passenger of shit

radiohead

idk if it's Sup Forums approved, but I enjoy dnb

Goldie's Timeless is, well, Timeless. It's phenomenal when you listen to it alone

Nosia's new album Outer Edges is great, I've listened through a few times, and I think it captures a lot of what made Noisia them when I first listened to them.

Squarepusher's album Hard Normal Daddy is more IDM, but it's still dnb. He does a mixture of live drums and programmed drums. I think he just chops up the drums he recorded on the album. It mixes together really well.

How similar is DnB to big beat? Fat Boy Slim is my guilty pleasure.

Big Beat/ Hardcore is slow dnb basically

Dnb is anywhere from 160-180 BPM. I'm not entirely sure, but Big Beat sounds like it's in about the 100 BPM range. So it's basically just half-timed.

Ive seen a lot of producer people I know getting in to making some 90's sounding big beat. I have a taste for it, but I've never dived into it.

also, a hardcore/big beat track I love that no one seems to have heard of

It's not really. Big Beat mostly refers to the punchy acid house style breakbeats. DnB is based around breakbeats as well, but draws from jungle beats and is usually at a higher bpm than big beat.

Fatima Yamaha - A Girl Between Two Worlds EP is a good intro to the more minimal side of edm that Sup Forums would probably approve of:

latest Aphex release is fantastic and also quite approachable, especially for him.

Pic related type of music was super mainstream during the late 90s/early 2000s and while a lot of it was garbage, this mix is great. Don't let the dumb cover make you think otherwise!
