Justin was traded to the Padres since he was in a contract year and the Braves couldn't afford to keep him. The Padres were willing to throw prospects (Fried, Mallex, Jace and Dustin Peterson) at the Braves to get him so they took the deal. He signed with the Tigers in the offseason.
BJ/Melvin was also traded to the Padres. The Braves wanted to get rid of his contract and the Padres were willing to do that if Kimbrel was included and the Braves took on a couple bad but shorter contracts (Quentin, Maybin). The Braves also got Wisler, a 1st round draft pick, and some prospect that I think they traded later for international money.

He struggled when he was first promoted to the Majors but it looks like it's finally clicked for him over the past few starts.
