hey no problem
Claire said in some interview (can't remember which one) that for guitar tones she "may or may not have smoked some pot" and tried a bunch of different settings
hence, Claire Kusher or Kucher, always pronounced Koo-shay
Jordan Bennett
literal autism

I mean not to talk shit on the guy who posted that but this is Sup Forums this is a light fan act at most
Jose Martinez
I'm reminded of that talk her mom did that serves as the only painting of her relationship to her parents. Upon flashing an image of Grimes on the screen, she had this to say >And this is the girl who didn't get to see Marilyn Manson because she got stoned, which she's still mad about...
It's not exactly unknown that Grimes enjoys cannabis, having posted recently on her instagram a picture of some kind of edible with the caption "The perfect editing companion", as well as the picture of her smoking a joint in the utility room of a venue, as well of that picture of her and Hana chilling on a unicorn sculpture with one of them holding onto a blunt.
Daniel Nguyen
>It's autistic to be nice Just because you are on Sup Forums doesn't mean you have to be an asshole, you know. You don't earn any cool kid points for it, bud.
John Sanchez
she and her parents seem to get along, but kind of spitefully her mom once said "she has more of a platform to complain about her bitch mom" or something like that

The greatest

Supposedly after she lost her mind and completely rebelled against them, she dropped any and all pretenses of having a relationship and maintained this attitude of alienation well into her time in Montreal.
In her own words, she didn't really have a relationship with them until she started being successful as Grimes. I think there's more tension there with her mom than her dad, seeing as her dad has played a larger role in her career (driving her around on her first tour, helping her set up her gear when she played shows in vancouver, appeared in Christmas Song II)
it's kind of sweet, actually.
Gavin Cruz
she identifies as a woman
she could also be described as "gender fluid," like many pop and rock stars and even many hip hop stars, and many writers and artists in general. a gender fluid person doesn't accept traditional essentialist ideas of gender, and seeks to deconstruct gender as a fixed idea, or doesn't even really try to but naturally ends up doing that because they have a unique way of expressing themselves that isn't stereotypical of the norms of all the normies of their sex.
she is a gender fluid female who challenges some traditional assumptions of femininity. she was raised in a household with several brothers and she said this accounts for why she never doubted that she should be able to do anything boys could. she is also interested in many traditional aspects of femininity that feminists have rejected, and got shit from them for that, just like she got shit from mras for her androgyny. she is basically opposed to any and all essentialism and stereotypes, and whatever box you try to put her in, she will break out.
Liam Harris
thats what makes her so cool
anti-essentialism is the essence of grimes and it's the essence of cool. ergo, grimes is the essence of cool.
Hudson Russell
DUDE WEED LMAO XDDD

Evan Nelson
not to nit-pick but I'm pretty sure she posted some kind of hash oil
The way that you try and portray the idea of genderfluidity as some sort of rebellious act against the norm, acting as if gender actually dictates who you are as a person is beyond ridiculous. Being genderfluid is another way to portray yourself as a special snowflake who thinks they can be somewhere in between. Be yourself, address your sex (boy or girl), and end the conversation there. A boy can wear a dress and act as girly as possible, and still be a male, with there being no problem. He is simply a male. But the second you try to jump between the two genders like some sort of statement against gender stereotypes is just begging for attention.
Also don't try and label rappers, writers, and other people who don't identify with your absurd terminology as genderfluid, when they themselves would never call themselves that. You're just making assumptions based upon their character and then labelling them based upon that. Its cooler to be a dude and rock dresses then to proclaim you're some sort of other-worldly gender-crossing special snowflake.
Brandon Carter
not to super harshly deviate from the general, but in that vein
>am straight dude >have long hair (undercut but still) >act feminine, half as a joke, half as a way to feel pretty >being a man or a woman is the same as being an adult, just using stereotypical masculinity and femininity as it may fall >to use masculinity to advance yourself as a woman or vice versa is to be absolutely based and real with all >basically do what you wish as long as you're not hurting others or yourself >say what you will but if you are actually against this just know there are people doing better than you because they're not wasting time on whining
Jack Parker
I'm not really against it, if you want to feel special and different then go for it, I was 16 once too, but I just am aware that there are people that concern themselves with labels like this way more than they are on actually just living their fucking lives how they want.
Kevin Hill
yeah nah I feel you
I feel like being transgender is slightly taking it too far, but that you can do whatever you wish to do You can be a a super feminine man/boy and still not call yourself by some other crazy label
Kevin Wright
hey tumblr
Jack Wright
>I feel like being transgender is slightly taking it too far You're a hypocritical faggot.
Jeremiah Morales
you're a stupid numale hipster
Christopher Sanchez
By that I mean fully getting a sex change (which I guess would be called being transsexual) Meaning you believe that you can only really be something if you are the sex that the binary would assign it to
I can't tell anyone to be or not be something, it's mostly how I feel about myself
Anyway Grimes is great and I hope something by/about her comes out soon
Oliver James
Please, STOP this bullshit discussion. Stay on topic and discuss about Grimes.

you guys know "gender fluid" is not the same as genderqueer, right?
genderqueer female gender: n/a (i don't believe in that) do they personally call themselves genderqueer: yes, it is their identity what does it mean: existing outside of the two genders personal style: could be anything, could even be 100% traditionally feminine in some cases example: amandla stenberg
gender fluid female: gender: female do they personally call themselves genderfluid: unlikely, unless they're really pretentious (or really young and don't know better), or unless someone else characterizes them that way, like say a journalist, and they're like, oh ok, i guess i am then what does it mean: being somewhat androgynous, or a tomboy, not always upholding traditional stereotypes of women personal style: likely includes a lot of "masculine" as well as "feminine" style choices example: grimes

how do you define grimes?
where does grimes end and claire boucher begin?
Justin Collins
gues out of stage she is just Claire

Easton Sanders
What are the difference between Grimes and Claire?
Austin Campbell
Your lack of identity is projected on her.
Nolan Torres
gender fluidity has nothing to do with lgbt or straight identification. "gender fluid" is just a description, like "outgoing" or "shy," that can be applied by oneself or others. it's not a fixed identity. unlike genderqueer, which is (or purports to be, in the view of its detractors). the ONLY reason i am talking about "gender fluidity" is because some user was confusing it with genderqueer, and asking if grimes is that. NO. if she was genderqueer, she would not be "she."
John Watson
Grimes is fictitious Claire. It's not realistic but only she can think that.
Bentley Fisher
claire sits at home all day maybe doing stuff or maybe just lazing around/annoying james
grimes does interviews, sings in front of large audiences, does photo shoots, writes lyrics, etc.
Julian White
Grimes is a character of her. Claire is just the human behind this role.
Jackson Gutierrez
Identity is never fixed, people are afraid it being so and you're the consequence of it. If you respected yourself you would be comfortable with who you are without deviating how to define yourself.
Adrian Bell
Oh hwy that one guy who posts that one "bad" picture of her isnt here i have nothing to do in this thread

What the hell is wrong with people. It's not even her best feature.

it's a combination of lighting, professional makeup and I think a little bit of retouching in photoshop.
what seperates grimes from the pack is that even in her makeup-less candid pics she's pretty darn attractive.
Adam Perry
identity is never fixed, sure, but someone who identifies as neither male nor female, is throwing off so many of the traditions given by our fixed-identity-obsessed society, that a new fixed identity is needed in practically to designate them (genderqueer), and most have embraced that. if they answer to neither existing gender pronoun, and can't check any box, they are genderqueer.
ALL I am saying is, it's a huge mistake to confuse this stance, this identity, with whatever Grimes is doing, which is nothing like that. Grimes is resisting against gender expectations (and even that, not always) from WITHIN the gender she was assigned at birth (and remains in), expending the range of what is accepted as "female." she never rejected femaleness.
even if you want to attack genderqueers as "tumblr special snowflakes," she is not one of that group. she never even self identified as "gender fluid," she only described a fictional vampire time traveling al pacino character in a song using the term. the term "gender fluid" has been used to describe some of her work and her personal style, and it's not inaccurate, but that's just a description, she never demanded to be called "gender fluid," she's cool with being seen as female, so long as she isn't stereotyped and essentialized.
"gender fluid" is relevant only because an user asked if she was genderqueer, which is only something one would ask if one was confused about its meaning... or i guess, if one never saw interviews or read anything about her.
Hunter Hill
It's more to add to the list of talents. She can be professionally attractive, or just casually attractive.
Adam Diaz
Why are people obsessed with their gender to begin with? Did they just find daddy's porn tapes for the first time? tumblrtards are projecting onto the whole fucking world. You can adopt contrarian personality traits that aren't expected of your gender, but this will never be related to your physical sexuality in any way. Her concern is with being sexualized. I'm not even reading your post anyway.
Jackson Williams
Because people are so boring they need an outlet to go to that makes them seem more interesting, utterly failing.
Levi Murphy
Bitch, it's not that I'm obsessed, you must've missed the earlier wrong-ass posts I was answering.
Someone asked if she's genderqueer. WHY i have no idea. Maybe shitpost, maybe not. They were told no, she's female, and could be considered gender fluid, and that word was only relevant because probably the user who asked that, if they were serious, got confused between those terms, one of which is ambiguous and descriptive (and does not rule out being female), the other describes a state of being neither female nor male.
The idea she's genderqueer is laughable if you know anything about her. It didn't need further discussion. But, someone randomly answered my post about gender fluidity with an attack on genderqueer people. Again, they were confusing the terms. But as a result, they created the implication that Grimes demanded some "special snowflake" status for herself.
This is false, and needed to be challenged because it is playing into ignorant stereotypes about her. I couldn't care less about having a political discussion, but I care about correcting wildly inaccurate ideas of Grimes due to someone like you being illiterate and misreading my post. Some bullshit has been said implying that Grimes is demanding special-snowflake gender status in some way. Untrue.
Christopher Barnes
You're gender illiterate.

grimes threads are not for politic
Robert Sanders
you're part of that tho, if you're siding with anons insulting and stereotyping her as part of groups they hate, that she isn't even part of, shouting down people calling bullshit, then posting feets pics.
Ethan Harris
She's kind of sexy here..
Isaiah Cox
you sad, sad little child.
Logan Jones
the first time politics was brought into the thread was when an user attacked grimes for trying to identify as neither female nor male (which was inaccurate) and stereotyped people that do that (known as genderqueer) in a negative way. why wasn't that user immediately told to stop bringing politics in the thread, if we have that rule?
