>it's an Americans think canada is socialist episode

duurrrrrr

Well, Americans are stupid. Most of the people I know think Socialism and Communism are the same thing.

In America capitalism with a welfare state means socialism
Even though they also have a welfare state

People specially refer to the scandinavian countries as socialist. Social democrats yes, socialists no. It's a big difference, like classic conservatives vs fascists.

Yeah, people apply it to you aswell. Canada is pretty liberal methinks

It's not just that, I can understand not knowing the difference between those 2, and I'm glad you're atleast educated on the subject, but Americans think a welfare state means we are all like the Soviet Union.

It's stupid don't you think?

Well, Europe certainly is MORE socialistic than America is. It's not "pure" socialism, but that's not a particularly useful definition since hardly anything is that black and white.

We're heavier on the welfare states but it's stupid when Americans say we're all communists.

>but Americans think a welfare state means we are all like the Soviet Union
it's ironic because we are a welfare state too

It's an "american thinks he lives in a free, democratic country" episode

>tfw America will never be communist

Socialism is just capitalism with a welfare state. "Pure socialism" is just rebranded communism. All countries are socialist to an extent

>reminder that given the chance Americans would've elected a literal socialist for president

Both are equal because both are thrash.

>it's a Dutchman pretends Netherlands isn't a socialist utopia episode to save face and avoid immigrants

Clever, but you can't fool me.

???

>not knowing the difference
because nobody gives a shit. communism is just a utopia that socialism can supposedly evolve into. so people are correct about not caring what the difference is. only butthurt socialist euros like you care.

>socialist euros
0/10 post

Low quality bait. Read this, for example, to understand what people mean by calling you socialist. Your fake capitalist system is shit.

forbes.com/sites/realspin/2012/10/25/european-socialism-why-america-doesnt-want-it/#15ffb34e3aca

1. Denmark isn't socialist
2. Denmark has a living standard miles above the US

It's important to recognize that those statistics vary a lot by where you are in the US. Inner cities in particular have the lion's share of violent crime, while suburbs are generally as peaceful as their european counterparts.

You have people living in near-third world conditions and anarchy in absolute shitholes like Detroit. It's like the US government has completely given up on these failed cities.

But here's the thing, you have to leave the suburbs in order to make a living, thus people are forced to expose themselves to danger and violent crim

Whereas in Europe you can walk down the streets of any city day or night without fear somebody will shoot you in the back.

Meanwhile Americans who've never ventured outside of their country make up stories of communist islamic rape death squads patrolling the streets.

>islamic rape death squads patrolling the streets
Wait, this isn't common in other countries..?

kek, why are you so in love with your autistic stats. it is no use to consider the whole country as some kind of an average number. i don't care what happens in ghettos. for the majority of us who have good education and a good job, we are way way better off that you you euro poors. that's why you are so butthurt

You KNOW this shit doesn't happen, not even in Sweden.

your incarceration, homicide, class divide, child death and HIV rate are Africa-tier

>have to leave the suburbs
i WANT to live in the suburbs because it is what the true 1st world living standards are all about.
most cities are totally safe too, if you avoid certain areas.

>most cities are totally safe too, if you avoid certain areas.
this is some dystopian shit yet you are in complete denial of how shit your country is
>yeah it's ok if you are very likely to get lynched in ghettos, just don't go there lmao

There are places I wouldn't go to after sunset, though.

wew

You realize that europeans cities have the same shitty neighbourhood where 90% of the violence happens ? therefore you're not special, and your explaination doesn't hold

oh really? there is violence in europian cities too? you don't say man. so what are we arguing about then. just do the same as i do, avoid those areas. /thread

But we are. The commies have won. Money is just paper now. Almost nobody questions handouts for literally nothing. Rules and laws outta the ass, population thoroughly disarmed. "Free" healthcare, subsidies, government controlled enterprise are all normal here.

>i WANT to live in the suburbs because it is what the true 1st world living standards are all about.
Sure, but you can't WORK in the suburbs, can you? Nope, have to drive like half an hour (i'm being generous here) to get to a city, where you are exposed to maniacs with basically no restriction to guns.
In fact, I'd wager you're exposed to maniacs in the suburbs too, maybe they're just keeping it low key, like instead of shooting people out in the streets, they keep their victims in their freezers in the basement - in pieces. All the while being very neighborly and friendly.

>most cities are totally safe too, if you avoid certain areas.
How do you even know which areas are safe and which are not? Do Americans when they turn 18, get a pamphlet in school like a phonebook, funded by the government, telling them about local ghettos and areas they should avoid?

autism

>doesn't understand sarcasm
>accuses others of autism

whew lad.

Yes, czech user, we are definitely living under communism now, USA lost ;)

It's why you can find coca cola everywhere and the whole west has shipped all manual labor to China for big business profits

>USA lost

USA is getting more and more socialist each year and the government is getting bigger and bigger.

>coca cola

Ah, monopolies. How very capitalist.

t. dunno shit about history
USA in the 50s was more socialist than now. Before Reagan, the final tax bracket was like 90%. Unionization rate has plummeted. Neo-liberals dominate politics and economics, business elite and political elite are intertwined through lobbying. You're looking through a lens of bias because 'muh ebil socialists' when we're less socialist than ever. Typical Sup Forums cognitive dissonance, where you think that 'degeneracy' and such are because of 'damn commies' and not because of mass consumerism and the culture associated with it.

and coca cola is not a monopoly

Fellow burgers please.

thanks pal

What about this?
encyclopediadramatica.se/Socialist

>coca cola

wut

>replies to OP
>addresses "fellow burgers"
>explains obvious shit

nice

You fail to realize its not up to the government, but the cities and states themselves to not be shit. We aren't like Europe, cities don't get a lot of direct federal funding

To give some background information: I am a social democrat. I'm not a socialist or communist, I am even against it and that's why I think it's stupid when people refer to Western Europe as socialist.

Thank God we don't live in a democracy, democracy is cancer. If we actually had democeacy Hillary would be the president now.

...

>implying Hillary is a socialist
Hillary sold herself and the country out to big business and banking interests because she's neo-liberal scum

>USA is getting more and more socialist each year and the government is getting bigger and bigger.

People refer to it as socialist because it is a state controlled welfare system with only a minimum amount of capitalism regarded as a "necessary evil". Most people in those countries are "public servants" employed by the state. Taxes are high so private entrepreneurship is discouraged. Rich people are considered to be evil and the state taxes the hell out of them to support lazy fucks and shitskin immigrants. Hence the term "socialist". Do you really need anyone to state the obvious to you?

Yeah, and what's your point?

Netherlands is very capitalist, and the welfare state is being broken down as we speak. We're less socialist and more liberal than ever.

hurrrr

>be dutch
>drive a bicycle to a hair loss clinic

socialism in a nutshell

>hair loss clinic
explain this meme

That's social democracy.

Socialism is worker control of industry.

Your parents grew up under a Marxist-Leninist state. Talk to them about what socialist policies are.

>getting old
>still riding a bicycle

>only young people should ride bicycles

>it's a "Socialism is big gubbmint" episode

to a doctor appointment?

anything slightly to the left is communism for americans because they are so far right

t. PT voting favelado

>hair loss specialist
>""""""""""doctor""""""""""

ignore the ifunny crap, just found it from google.

Oh right, if you're really living the american dream you should be unable to ride bicycles at all once you're past your 30s because you're so fat.

If you're so uhealthy in your 70s that you are unable to ride a bicycle you've failed as a human being.

>pretends he doesn't understand the difference between riding for fun vs as a means of transportation because gas is too expensive

>the only reason you could ever possibly choose biking over driving is if you're poor
You are the reason why foreigners think Americans are all lardasses.

>implying gas is more expensive here than in the USA
You don't need a car for distances less than 10 kilometers

glad some of you are decent people

That is literally the only reason to use one other than as a means for entertainment.

Cycling in the inner city is faster than driving
It's cheaper, doesn't mean you're poor if you bike
Lots of people have both a car and a good bike
It's healthy
It's useful for minors so their parents don't have to drive them to school and other stuff

the list goes on

>choose biking over driving
as a weekend warrior sport, sure.
other than that, no thanks.

>biking to a grocery store. top kek

That sounds terrible. Living like that must be hell.

Do you take the car to visit your neighbours?

Being so physically immobile you have to rely on cars to haul your fat ass instead of being able to bike must suck.

>decent people

no seriously, bicycles are conventient

>we're less socialist than ever

That's a load of bullshit. There were times in the US when there was no income tax and the power of the federal government was so limited it didn't even matter who'd be the president. But then came 20th Century and the everpresent idea that centralization is good and the government should care for the well-being of the citizen and it's its fault if the citizen is unhappy.

Same in Europe. Things used to be far simpler because there was no way to actually enforce the mountains of bullshit regulation we have today.

You can never do anything with your bike though, it's sad.
>have to wear ridiculous clothes
>get chaffing
>get cold
>get dehydrated
>get sun burnt
>get wet
>can't carry anything
>can't go long distances
>everything takes forever to get to
>can't have a conversation or listen to music/podcast/ebook on trip

The list goes on and on. It's just a terrible form of transportation.

I'm probably richer than you

that only applies if you're looking at a timeframe of hundreds of years but you referred to being more socialist RIGHT NOW while it's less than in the 50s

>have to wear ridiculous clothes
everyone hear bikes in casual clothing or business clothing, doesn't matter. No need for those weird outfits that tour de france runners wear. Do you think everyone here looks like that?

>chaffing
only if you're fat

>cold
not worse than if you would walk, or are you against walking aswell?

>dehydrated
jesus fuck, I'm talking about riding a bike to commute like everyone does here, not biking on for hours and hours

>sun burnt
no such thing here

>wet
only if it rains, applies to walking aswell

>can't carry anything
backpacks, baskets in front, baggage carrier in the back

>can't go long distances
What is 'long'? You can do 10 km in half an hour, but I bet you've only biked once and couldn't go any faster than walking speed

>takes forever to get to
up to a certain distance it's more efficient than cars cause you can get past traffic

>can't have conversation or listen to music
yes you can, bike with friends or put earbuds in

fatass retard

Tbh atleast here in finland the political spectrum is mostly saturated with different shades of left. It's no lie that were socialist in some aspects and such system was very beneficial for us, until now.

>bike with friends
this

>until now.
what happened?

Why are you getting so worked up about this? You've just cherry picked things to suit your ridiculous children's toy lifestyle.

Immigration and the somewhat inevitable incapability of the government handling the economy properly under crisis.

>hurr we are less socialist now than after the biggest government organized effort in the history of mankind

No shit, Sherlock. The twentieth century was the century of socialism and NO country emerged unscathed so in this regard, the socialists have won.

/leftypol/ here. Socialism isn't something that can exist by degrees. A country is either socialist or it isn't. Europe is dominated by social democracy, not socialism. Socialism is the democratic, worker control of the means of production and economy.

Here's what it looks like, lardass cuck

Notice the fancy houses, the well-preserved infrastructure (while you have whole cities crumbling apart and can't even get clean water), we also have expensive cars and shit.

We CHOOSE to bike because we're not lardasses.

>We HAVE to bike because we can't have a car.
ftfy

fuck me I forgot the image

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_vehicles_per_capita

We're still #30 in motor vehicles per capita, plenty of cars here, lardass. And that is even with the insane amount of bikes we have, we're #1 in bikes per capita, we have about as many bikes as people.

I am also here

what's this basket for? shopping?

Yeah, you can easily do groceries on a bike

Do you not realize that you just proved me right? Words and such?

So, memes aside, how often do you buy groceries to do it like that? We here do it once a week or even once a couple of weeks or longer for stuff that can be stored. That's a lot of shit to carry, especially if you have a large family. Do you buy tiny amounts of food every day?

I buy groceries once every 2 days. I actually walk cause it's 5 minutes walking to the nearest supermarket.

We aren't even close to countries that are actually poor and have a low car ownership rate.
