Not him but even taking into consideration of half a century ago that's not true. The Ottomans were pretty rapidly and the Mughals were at their peak. The Indian subcontinent and the Ming Chinese Empire either directly controlled or had vassal statesterritory from parts of Iran to China to large parts of S E Asia.
With the Ottoman empire eventually being dicks and blocking European access to the Indian and Chinese trade it pushed the Europeans to find alternative routes or as you know it- the age of exploration.
It wasn't until the 1600's by the Spanish conquest of South America did things slowly start to change. Only around 1750-1800 did it reallycement.
So it's safe to say European domination began about 200 years ago, when the British acquired India and their industrial revolution began.
