Climate and half our cuisine are.

Not geographically since Ceuta sided with you in 1640.

>strong Islamic influence
>brown
>lazy
>a history of fascist dictatorship
>shorter on average than certain pygmy tribes
>prefer disgusting sea reptiles to the noble beasts of the forest

all of this checks out, but they aren't loud and religious like other Meds, so I am torn on the issue. What do you think, fellow Meds?

>but they aren't loud and religious like other Meds
In a way we're even more religious than Spain and Italy. We just keep the moral ideology/behaviour without going to church, though.

>prefer disgusting sea reptiles to the noble beasts of the forest
What do you mean?

>strong Islamic influence

I meant fish

and I was just joking, I think Portuguese women are exceptionally beautiful

maybe you can errr post some so we can decide if they look Mediterranean

mate there is like no muslims in portugal at all

unless you're talking historically then half their names are muslim

>>prefer disgusting sea reptiles to the noble beasts of the forest
>What do you mean?
He means you prefere bacalao instead of a cow. I prefere both mixed.

I think that was pretty rude to be honest

Ethnically we're not very different from Spaniards, so you'll get similar results. Our women are fucking uptight as all fuck, though. Playing on hard mode here.

>fish
We eat a lot more fish than any Mediterranean country, true. I think only Iceland and Japan eat more fish than us.

Our diet is half Mediterranean, half Atlantic, half Imperial (spices). It's so good it has 3 halves.

We mostly alternate every day between fish and meat, ideally.

We don't have many muslim names at all. Most of our moor genes came from the Christian soldiers raping the muslim women, not the other way around, so at least the surnames are mostly christian. In fact, the moors and jews we had were forced to convert and change their names, just like in Spain.

i am greek

How can be a country Mediterranean if is not Mediterranean?

>strong islamic influence

>half their names are muslim

Sup Forums never ceases to amaze me

oxala brother, crypto-Islamic resurgence in Portugal soon

shut up you my slave cunt. we are your master

To be fair, we never claim to be Mediterranean. Mediterranean is the kiddy pool of oceans.

We like the big league:
youtube.com/watch?v=dtVQJCq2cCM

We just enjoy Olive oil, is all.

Cute. Even Spain is crypto-controlled by their Portuguese-est region.

In order to be crypto you must know about your former culture.
People don't know shit about muslim and jewish culture.

...

It will happen at the same time of the crypto-turkish resurgence in slovenia

They're British deep down, and we are Portuguese.

It's a shame you couldn't kill all the Irish for us.

We'd have loved to live in a green island where we could fish forever.

Actually i have an arabic name: "Almeida" wich means "plains"

Fuckin lame if you ask me but it was adopted by many portuguese nobles so it's cool

We already have the minho for that.
We should just annex galicia

Yes, but imagine that, on an island. Near where the bacalhaus live.

We'd keep the Iberian territories for wine-making, of course.

Some years ago, a friend of my father told me that he got lost in a Portuguese city (I can not remember the name of the city). He despaired and got nervous because he has no idea of Portuguese laguage. He sat down in a fountain with a sad face, and suddenly a group of Portuguese approached him and said "hey que pasa amigo", and they helped him, invited him to eat and they indicated the direction of a hotel.

That was on 80's decade.

Are the Portuguese still like this?

I'd like to think so. I think we usually come on top on friendly charts, but any self-evaluation would be biased.

Lisbon and maybe Porto are probably a bit different with the metropolitan attitude, but everywhere else people will probably help you out, even if you're Spanish.

>Are the Portuguese still like this?

In small towns yes.
In Lisbon it would never happen anything like that (unless they wanted his shekels)

However, it depends on the people

We're not even a mediterranean country despite we have a long coast with this sea. How can Portugal be a mediterranean country then ?

Only in smaller villages where people know everyone

I think only Lisbon and maybe Porto would be slightly different. At least in Coimbra we'd do it, but we are used to dealing with lost and drunk people.

Also, where is that?

Yeah you are. So is the UK.

pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vilar_da_Veiga

I'm sure it was in big city, probably Oporto or Lisbon.

Neat, never been. I mostly go to the interior when I visit the North.

That'd probably still happen, fyi. Just that it's not guaranteed. Nice people still live there.

The whole country is not mediterranean, but languedoc and provence are 100% med and latin.
Spain is reversed, a med country whom north is actually not med.

>Yeah you are. So is the UK.

Gibraltar.

Back home in São Miguel in terms Açors most everyone is like this. My cousin often goes out of his way for strangers.

I love that about back home...everyone cares everyone has a passion that I find people in North America are missing...

T. Future Italian territories

It's more of a small place mentality than a typically Portuguese thing, I thought.

Maybe it's because we're made of lots of small places.

The little Mediterranean island of Calaveras brancas, in the Maltese Archipelago is still Portuguese.

Did not you know that?

kek, what are you talking about?

By that logic UK is Latin American too, just what the fuck are you talking about

One of the smallest Brazilian states is larger than Portugal, xd

No, because the Malvinas and whatever else aren't part of their districts like Gibraltar is.

It was also a bit of a technicality joke, don't take it too seriously.

Gibraltar did have a vote in Brexit tbqh.

How is life there?

Well considering my home state literally only has one city and that city alone holds 1 of 4 people in the state, let alone my home island hold 1 in 2 people. I'm use to that very small home grown feel.

People in northern and central portugal are also very nice. I remember when I went to visit the tomb of Don Alfonso I and elderly lady gave us her umbrella because it was raining so hard.

What the fuck is that, Pablito?

Where is that on the map?

>Don Alfonso I

That town is called Guimarães and it's fuckin beautiful

>tfw live in Braga and I've only been to Guimarães once for a school trip.

That is honestly a bit hard to wrap my head around. Mercator projections don't help.

But not being able to conceivably cover your whole country in a day (even if you had great roads like we do) is a bit weird.

What do you mean? They had a vote, it just lost.

In Coimbra? That's pretty cool. Hope you had fun.

People in Alentejo and non-tourist Algarve are also pretty cool. It's just the touristy spots that end up more calloused.

Kek, you actually made me look. Good job. Is this an old meme, or are you making it up now?

Afonso I is buried here, in Coimbra, though.

Read that as "didn't".

Have you ever visited?

>What do you mean?

The residents of Gibraltar were allowed to vote on whether the UK should leave the EU or stay. They obviously voted, along with Scotland and Northern Ireland, to remain. England and Wales voted to leave.

No, but I'm spending three months in Malta next year.

I'll look for Calaveras Brancas.

Next time you try to pull this, call it caveiras brancas.

Nice. My aunt was there in the 90's. When was popular destination for bachelor parties.

Jesus, the autism..

>tfw live in Braga and I've only been to Guimarães once for a school trip.

Marroquino típico

>tfw a local called me marroquino when I told him I was bracarense.

>Calaveras Brancas

¿?

>that /fit/ man

Mirin those aesthetics, no homo

Funny how one homo comment killed this thread.

Porra tuga, faz isso não véi. ;3

> Zuera n acaba. Luv ya.

Goddamn, Dad's country looks /comfy/ as fuck, even the big cities.

I think about Portugal as a big "Ouro Preto", their architecture is very similar to ours, but way better, since we have no money to maintain them, making them look like pure trash 90% of the time.

Parece muito bonita essa cidade

A antiga arquitectura portugesa é mega comfy

>their architecture is very similar to ours
Well, otherway around, ain't it?

>but way better, since we have no money to maintain them
Well, neither do we, desu. Calceteiros are all retiring and getting expensive.

One thing I do agree, is that the proper lush green vegetation makes it pop out a lot more. The Azores also have this, but most continental Portugal has a dark green vegetation, so it looks more stoic and less lush.

Still pretty comfy.

Also, Brazil's historic architecture fits better together because it was build in a shorter timespan and most things look more complementary, whereas ours were basically built out of a need for renovation, so it was more gradual and patchy, and not all at once.

Baroque architecture is pretty popular in Portugal

1. Portugal
2. No

We should've kept this

They'd be more advanced than us, and we'd be even more of a joke, desu.

That's called being a good colonizer

Good point.

It's not like Toronto isn't half ours anyway.
