So what constitutes a Best New Album? Is it just everything with a score of 8.0+?
Jayden Lewis
>fuck pitchfork
wish i could to be honest famm
Matthew Price
right now its anything above a 9.1
Andrew Wright
>Is it just everything with a score of 8.0+?
more like 8.3+, but there are a few 8.2 BNMs (and lower from when they first started the tag; iirc there was a 7.9 BNM) and a few 8.4+ non-BNMs (metal albums, lol)
so i guess the current formula is a score of 8.2 or higher and being either trendy or from an established band/artist Pitchfork liked in the past and hasn't become "uncool"
Ethan Lewis
Nick Cave 8+ no BNM
Thomas Perry
Nick Cave will get BNM, likely 8.5-8.8
Alexander Ross
no way it doesn't get a BNM
Nathaniel Jones
Dead Sara - Pleasure To Meet You 8.3 BNM

Jaxon Thompson
>Steve Buscemi reads the cut-up passages of William Burroughs while backed by the drones of Elliott Sharp. It rarely works. It sounds interesting enough where I might need to hear a sample
Anthony Wright
You are joking, right? In these instances, especially with the weekend, when they wait longer than expected to review a release that had no pre-copies sent out the score is usually quite high. I'm guessing a 9.1/10, although I think it deserves a 9.6
Wyatt Green
8.5

I don't get what's the deal with the metal 8.4s. Either give it a BNM or give it a lower score, or at least give some sort of explanation. Like, if the editors think it's an inherently inferior form of music, come out and say it.
