Hi, looking for albums / artists with vocals that really sound like they're wrenched from the pits of the singer's soul. Real agonized, shrieking stuff that makes you think "RIP vocal chords", like pic related. Another album that's similar to this, vocal delivery wise, is Admiral Angry - Buster, for reference. Any recs would be appreciated. Thx

Musically nb but nowhere near as good as Jane Doe, these vocals are nice though
Not really an album I listen to for vocals, The drums, bass, and guitar work are compositionally interesting and just sound good af. vox are an afterthought 90% of the time.
Today Is The Day - Willpower
Great album to start us off OP. Jane Doe is 10/10
I don't know of much that rivals the vocals on Jane Doe.
I'd recommend early Dillinger Escape Plan, but I assume you've heard it already.
Really? I agree that the instrumental work is great, but to me what really seals the deal of the mood and atmosphere of the album are the shrieks. It expresses emotional suffering in a really powerful way, imo
this is unmatched
this sounds more pained though

This album is awesome but it really drains me.
What. The. Fuck.
Yeah that's a great example

That's cool, but definitely a different feel than what I was looking for. I wonder how he made that sound
agree on both parts, but the fact that it drains me I think is part of its lure. It's one of my faovrite albums and Ican just jam to that shit on guitar and scream the lyrics and by the end it feels like I've run a half marathon. It's a satisfying feeling for me, like I've let out all the anger and energy and now can relax. I definitely see what you're saying, but I think that's honestly an intention of the record
you said
> Real agonized, shrieking stuff that makes you think "RIP vocal chords"
the singer literally retired from damaging his vocal chords
The new Norma Jean has moments like this, particularly on 1,000,000 Watts. The whole album is pretty fantastic too
rock jams w/ soulful vocals

What I meant was vocals that really convey emotional suffering. Those are impressive, imaginative, and inhuman, which I like, but I'm looking for more in the direction of stuff like this
Maths are maybe one of my favorite bands, and I feel like more of Sup Forums would like them if they knew.

Here's their full EP from 2011. It's called Ascent and is 11 minutes long.

really appreciate it man, Breach and Throats are just what i was looking for
anytime, I could do this all night.
Great band, one of the best around.
And that fucking vocalist!!!!!!
He's just as loud without a mic.
Hey I quite liked this
throat destroying stuff, maybe this is count as a contribution.
the vocalist of jeromes dream literally destroyed his vocal cords
just wait for the female vocalist to jump in around 20 seconds into the track.
She fucking destroys it.

90's metalic hardcore with absurd vocals

If you like Converge you might like Oathbreaker since they are in a similar vein. Last minute or so is pretty intense.

These fuckers obviously can't replicate this shit live at a show but if you want shrieks, they got you covered.
Here ya go, OP.
Also, this thread needs more Josh Scogin.
May not be exactly what you're looking for, but there's a terrific scream in this song.

It's amazing. Super talented group.
This is the best thing I can think of youtu.be
