bump

>fedora jazz

Charles Mingus- Black Saint And The Sinner Lady is a decent option

it's just regular avant-jazz, not dark enough

Dave Brubeck Octet - I am The Black Wizards

Bohren and der club of gore is jazz played at a glacial pace. Walks into dark ambient territory. Does that work?

They have a reputation for being kind of Fedora-y but Bohren and der Club of Gore sound like what you're after

youtube.com/watch?v=6Zl5vpy__dQ

yeah this kinda. Bohren have their own thing going on.

Matana Roberts - Coin Coin Ch. 1, is pretty gloomy and emotional at points

Escalator Over The Hill has this whole menacing vibe going through it. The whole album is like 3 hours but the opening track gives you a good overview of what's to come.

5:10 onwards is where it starts getting pretty freaky

>fedohren and der club of bore

Forgot to mention the best bit

At like 7:44 the most intense, tortured saxophone solo I've ever heard comes in

This is good, is it worth the whole 3 hours?

"Dark"

Albert Ayler "New York Eye and Ear Control"

Bump

Dark Magus, it even has the word "dark" in the title

Miles Davis' Get Up With It. Not even just the first track, the whole thing has a huge weight to it.

Live Evil

oops, was getting mixed with One the Corner, specifically this track:

also, Bitches Brew is pretty dark

I recently found this, not dark but eh.

Albert Ayler Spiritual Unity makes me feel like I'm losing my mind and I'm about to die.

It's a bit intense for an unbroken 3 hours, there's a point where the style changes to more of a fusion thing so that could be a good spot for an intermission.

The rest of the album has a load of really surreal lyrics over it, I wanted to post the title track because that really captures the whole feel but it's not on youtube.

holy shit that saxophone literally just sounds like tortured screeching at some points. This is very good user, will definitely check it out
