Depends on the player and the club.
If you're a top player playing for one of if not the best club in the world, it doesn't take much loyality to stay.
depends on the team you play in.
and what is your background at said club.
Loyality. It's actually so rare in modern football you can count loyal plays on one hand. Messi, Totti, Di Natale, Iniesta...??
>Di Natale
Gerrard la'
Maldini?
zanetti, almost
Where do you go once you get to Barcelona? It's not like there's somewhere that he would make more money or a have better shot at more trophies
Olivier Deschacht la'
Barcelona paid for his treatment when he was kid least he could do was stick around and win them a bunch of champions league titles.

it is bad for the sport
the best player in the world should help grow the game a la gretzky
I think people in autistic hobbies like speedrunning do more to help grow their games than athletes, and most of them do it

Loyalty can be a heavy burden

Does going for a comfy paycheck in Qatar/MlelS really ruin your status as a one club man? He spent all of his meaningful career at Liverpool, like Xavi did at Barca
What is the situation with Reus? I assume he's had lots of offers to play elsewhere, is he just sticking to Dortmund out of loyalty? Then again they are a pretty great club, better at the moment than most English teams (yes make any jokes you want about us), so maybe that's why he's staying?
yes
dortmund would be first in any other league except la liga, he's just been really unlucky that bayern keeps getting all of his teammates
he's shit now, and was pretty poor the last 2 seasons at >us
German bro, great picture and comment. 1 upvote for you m'lady.
He's from Dortmund and apparently he gets homesick or something and doesn't want to leave. It's kinda weird cause he left when he was way younger. Some say it's cause he doesn't get any good offers because of his injuries but Bayern already tried to get him twice and the last time they did Dortmund were 17th and Reus still signed a contract extension, so maybe he's really loyal and it's a childhood club thing.
nah it doesn't
nothing outside of Europe counts
>1st in any other league except la liga
>Literally got knocked out of the Europa League by the team that finished 8th in the EPL
It's fine. Sure there are players who'd rather be big fishes in small ponds, but if you're already at a top flight club and you're comfy, what's the point in moving?
Also, I can totally understand and approve of players that understand their own level and prefer being comfy and starting in a mid table club to being on the bench in a big, like Di Natale.
Coming from a Liverpool fan that game was a fluke and we both know it.
>the beautiful game
>fluke
ya dun goofed m8
Class of '92, mostly.
A 1-0 or 2-1 win can be a fluke, not throwing away a 3 goal lead.
Possibly the worst sports meme of all time desu

Loyalty. Something most yuros know nothing about.

Anytime the game is won in the dying seconds it's a fluke. Liverpool had 90 minutes where all they had to do was make sure >dirtmund didn't score and they let them score 3 times.

>Team A has 48/60/90 minutes to beat Team B
>Team A fails to establish a clear cut win until 45 seconds from the final whistle
Tell me how that's not a fluke? I'm not saying it isn't exciting. But objectively the better team should have made the outcome clear before the final minute.
That's middle school emo phrase tier music man
Is the bromance between Lewa and Reus over?
;___;
>better team
Nobody cares who should have won, it only matters who wins. Ever hear the phrase "that's why we play the games"? For instance, the Thunder eliminating the Warriors in the playoffs this year.

I know it pretends to be a general question, but it's obviously not, so... It's a mix of the following that makes Messi stay:
- He feels gratitude (and loyalty as a result) to Barça because they payed for his treatment when other clubs turned they back on him. He would've been a midget for the rest of his life if not for Barça.
- He plays alongside players that grew up and developed together with him. Aaaand they're also world class. It doesn't get any better than that.
- The fans idolize him. He's a god for every Barça fan. Who would treat them better than them?
- He gets to compete in every major cup/league/tournament, and win a lot of them. Actually, dominate ALL of them more than any other club in recent history. And that's collectivelly. Add to that, that Barça's football has also allowed him to break any conceivable record and win any possible individual award a footballer could ever dream of.
Fuck you can see the sadness in his eyes ;_;
FUPA pls
I love Messi haters with the another league prooving thing. They are so desperate to find a flaw. Why the fuck would he leave arguably the best football club in world where he's a religion and play for some arab or russian oil money club full of strangers. It's not like he needs money. And he got all his friends and family in Barcelona. He changed the history of Barcelona and thats what sportstars should do, not changing clubs like Ibrahimovic, Anelka etc to earn a milion more.
It's easy to be loyal when you've played for one of the richest clubs in the world for your entire career. If Messi had started his career at Sevilla or Betis, there's no way he would still be there today.
this
He started career at best club, so no need to move to best club.
It's easy to comprehend really.
Op is butthurt arsenal fas becasue wenky should have signed him but missed the chance la
The concept of loyalty in sports is dumb. Every time loyalty is mentioned it's in the context of a player who's too good for the club, when a club is too good for the player he gets booed and shipped off at the first opportunity.
Fuck loyalty.
I guess half the basketball games are flukes then.

The fans will usually admire it providing you play for the shirt.
On the topic of loyalty, with exception of moving to your clubs rivals, you should be able to move as a player.
The man can't be a pundit to save his life. Can't fault his loyalty though.
Pep will bring him to city

Also, where's the best player in the world, probably in history, going to play...?
A) Some shit team fighting relegation
B) A team full of top and some world class players
So, what do you think all the kids here would say if Messi decided to switch clubs...?
>"Implying he's proving himself surrounded by stars"
Which is also why I laugh when they pretend like CR did "prove himself at different leagues".
That's has happen many times, and invariably it went like:
Club President: You should go ahead and aim for bigger things. We all in the club love you and wouldn't want you to stay here to rot anyway. And yeah, we really need the fucking money too.
Fans: Go on the big stage, play the CL, etc... The move will be good for you and for our club. It's ok, we'll even root for you; thanks for everything.
He's thinking about the future
what would he honestly gain from transfering? The world transfer record? just 20 years ago that was held by Maradona for 8 million Euro, an absolute joke today. And 20 years from now I bet players will transfer mid-season.
Messi will be a historical legend for being in 1 european club his entire life and spending his last months playing for Rosario in Argentina.
He has nothing to gain from moving, he speaks only Spanish, he has his family in Barcelona, his children are growing up nicely in nice climate, and best of all his family likes it there.
Also why would anyone leave 4 champions leagues. Reminder Barcelona only had 1 CL before Messi turned professional.
