what desu
I don't believe you
the thing that matters is price per square foot
that looks like a decent sized plot of land
no, the situation is actually as bad as OP describes, if not worse.
Chinese buyers are flooding Vancouver's market and rocketing up prices. He is not meming you
>square feet
KYS

All I could find is this shack.
zillow.com
That is $1785 per square foot - not that much compared to Manhattan. Is he trying to act like that is expensive, because Manhattan has places in similar conditions that that are much more. That house is a knock-down. We have no idea what kind of area that is or what type of zoning the lot has.
Bit of canadas fault also, the population is so small and 90% of them live along the US border and mostly all concentrated in cities.
it costs about $350000
i can't find a proper example of a house that costs $2,5 m 2bh
Yes, the value of being in Manhattan is obviously a huge factor. Manhattan is the wealthy district in the financial capital of the planet. Vancouver is a large but much lesser city than New York and has a lot less to offer. Walk outside of that Vancouver home and you have a shitty neighborhood and a ways to go to get to downtown. Walk out of a closet in Manhattan and you are smack dab in the middle of it all. No comparison.
Plus, you're trying to compare typically extremely wealthy areas (Manhattan) to places that are """supposed""" to be for lower income brackets.
The Chinese are a clear problem for Vancouver. Comparing it to more expensive places does not negate the damage they are doing by gentrifying all Westerners out of a Western city.
>the damage they are doing by gentrifying all Westerners out of a Western city
To be fair, they're not really gentrifying anything. Wealthy Chinese families buy real estate to launder money and/or divest themselves of the declining value of the yuan. The few that do live there, live in isolated communities.
It makes me angry.
It is one thing to have westerners kicked out of their own cities by rich foreigners.
It is another thing if most don't even bother living there. It's like they are indirectly turning it into a ghost town.
Vancouver recently came to its senses and implemented an annual 1% tax on the value of homes that are owned but vacant, but that doesn't seem like that much to me. Or it will work and they will all pour into here.
it's probably the standard 33*100 foot lot
but on that you could put a 3 story house with a basement suite, and turn the garage into a secondary home
so even a little plot of land ends up having 10 bedrooms on it, with 3 filipinos in every room
the most important city in the world has real estate prices higher than an irrelevant canadian city?
oldest building in Vancouver is from the 1860s
no, the isolated communities are the specific mandarin/cantonese only ones, whole city is full of chinese, indians and filipinos
in general there's more whites the further west, but that's the area with the best schools so the chinese want to buy them
Same shit is happening here. Going to be interesting in decade when the boomers start dying since everyone with a brain in my generation has realised owning a house isnt something we can do anymore.
where will all us millennials go
In central London you'll probably get a 1 bed flat in a ex council block
Chinese and Arabs buying up the place

The problem with these McMansions is, they don´t fit into the landscape AT all.
I´d rather have a smaller more comfy house
i just want a nice french chateau 2bh
This one needs to be redone - same size, price, cost - but in the Hollywood Hills. It is being used as an office by a showbiz type.

Good then this free market meme can die for good.
Russians are known to be tacky. People in London, NYC, LA will all laugh at the tastes of the Russians. Here is a commercial that is a parody of Russians.
Isnt that where the prostitutes and drug addicts are? Along the canals near your train station.
I live in the interior of São Paulo, the best place in the country and where you buy good houses for a good price, or at least it was.
Canada bro your parents should be selling up and providing you with an early inheritance. If they dont they have literally sold your future to the Chinese.
this one is 2.4 million
>the new white house
Looks like a Russian oligarchs house.
pretty repulsive desu
looks absolutely gorgeous except from this angle the roof makes the room look a bit claustrophobic

rated value of 2.5 million NZD, which is about 1.8 million USD. This is just down the road from me kek
this is 'modern' wannabe tripe. not many houses look like this desu, traditional style is still favoured by most.
blame grand designs
In my hometown $2.5 million will buy the three most expensive houses with some money to spare. All three of them. The most expensive house by itself in my hometown is $750,000.
Why do modern large American houses always look like someone joined several small houses together with a million different roofs on them?
nederlands needs more Lebensraum
Mcmansions are just undetached town houses with the seperating walls torn down.
Good news, I finally found a detached house worth $2.5 million, and I only had to do two hours worth of driving to a neighboring city of the capital for it. Prussian kings and German kaisers had residences in the city.
where are all the 1871-1914 era mansions and chateaus? surely there must be some left standing
The reason I said detached is because multimillion dollar prices usually buy you half a street block.
that is not an american house kraut
it is a minnesota house
house style is very regional
That one was in fact built in 1870. King Frederick Wilhelm IV apparently liked such an architectural style and the upper class surrounding kings always follows their lead.
Yes but not always for sale
Are they? I mean, I know they used to be, and I know that the empty flyovers prefer single floors to double floors, but do new houses still look different across the US nowadays?
If you do not want a detached house this condo/flat is in a great area of LA and you can walk to go do most things.
redfin.com
Are walking distances in LA not still day long treks, and will they not get you shot?
No?
Amsterdam isnt one big red light district
it is awefully expensive to live there
Everything you need you can walk to except the beach, also no one here gets shot in nice areas. LA is a very safe city.
2 500 000
>tfw not a houseboat owner
>tfw no houseboat culture in Germany
+ 10.000.000 invoice for repairs
+ 10.000 fixed costs/month
This one is actually in very good shape, it was restaured by the previous owners but it's true that these old chateaux have very high maintenance costs.
You can get almost anything in the country.
24M SEK (2,6M $)
263m2
2400m2 land

it's located in the municipality with the lowest taxrate in Sweden

Arent these just a pain in the ass because of their size and bad isolation?
>tfw you grew up at this address in Vancouver

This is more a SOCAL style house in a very nice area of LA - Studio City. Those Rube flyover style only exist out in the desert suburbs.
redfin.com
They need a high maintenance budget but you get to live in a fucking castle
>have money
>buy expensive house
>3,8M down the drain

WHY?!
can i live there with my turkish boyfriend
A house in a whites-only area:

Or a luxurious apartment in the middle of the city:

Justin Bieber recently bought the most expensive house in the Netherlands.
A large apartment on Dam Square in Amsterdam for 24,4 million euros. I believe it's one layer of that glass roof on the right side.
Dam Square is the city center, where also the royal guest palace is located.
It's located next to a five star hotel which does the room service.
The red light district is also just around the corner.
Boomers die. Houses go to their children. Children still expect big price for the house. Market remains the same.
Most expensive house on sale probably. Because surely the castles and palaces are more expensive.
>make over 6 figures
>can't afford a house in a decent area
lol, time to live with the mexicans on the south side
it's Vancouver
don't rich people in your country go to places like st. tropez in the summer and switzerland in the winter?
Vancouver is like that for chinese. Even though they have nothing to do with the outdoors.
Cannibalism is bad you know.
No, only white people live in that area
around the same price
