Guys, I've learnt the easy as hell kanas and I'm about to start learning the hellish kanji. I've heard that it's good to start with the radicals as it makes remembering the kanjis easier. Is there any point in actually learning the pronunciation of the radicals, or can I just learn the meaning of them?
Jaxon Brown
Hi pretty girl

Can いざ act as a synonym for 今?
Nicholas Evans
I don't think you can, but I could be mistaken. I know you can use いざ in things like いざという時 or いざ! as an interjection (e.g. いざ、参る!).
Hudson Lewis
A lot of radicals come from kanji themselves. Just learn to recognize when they're used to give meaning or pronunciation. e.g. 蔵 ("container") is pronounced ぞう and 肉 ("flesh") is abbreviated to 月 when it's used as a radical. So you can guess that 臓 ("guts, organs") is a part of the body and is pronounced ぞう. You might even use that to create a mnemonic to remember it like, the FLESH that is CONTAINED in the body is the GUTS
You can do this for a lot of kanji: >人 ("person") + 動 ("move", pronounced どう) = 働 ("work", pronounced どう) >水 ("water") + 毎 ("every", pronounced まい) = 海 ("sea", pronounced かい) >金 ("metal") + 失 ("lose", pronounced しつ) = 鉄 ("iron", pronounced てつ)
