Running in the 90s!
Killing Joke
The Birthday Party
I like your taste.
(good band)
I have a wide-ranging list of criminal records to my name.
and have done sick, perverted things in 80's music clubs.... Like willingly dancing to phil collins. for an entire song.
Oliver Cheatam
Siouxie and the Banshees: Christine

"now she's in purple, now she's a turtle, disintegrating"
The only good thing about the 80's was George Michaels.
And George Michaels sucks.
Somehow I weirdly agree with this.
From Wham to Freedom 90. wtf.
80's music is terrible; it can't compete with today's greatest hits.
Yazoo (Yaz, in the US), "Situation"

personally, I prefer "Nobody's Diary"
something very different for its time:

one of the very first commercial House records; MARRS: Pump Up the Volume.
this really did sound like nothing else out there at the time.
It spawned Death Metal.
a year later than MARRS, this was another shock to the system, (and that's a good Billy Idol track, albeit from the 90's)

the KLF, and Paul Oakenfold, "What Time is Love", the Pure Trance version.
(My ex was in one of the KLF's videos: their 1992 "America" track.)
staaap
OK, so the 80s weren't great, but there was Kiss, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Grateful Dead, Uriah Heap, Whitesnake, Ratt, Journey, Def Leppard, Head East was still around, damn! There WAS a lot o' good muzak!
I bought "Floodland" in 1987 on cassette. 29 years later, I'm still listening to that same album...
Sisters of Mercy: Lucretia, my reflection.
The Cramps: What's Inside a Girl?
One of the biggest hits of the 80's:

I like pump up the volume. Nice track. Interestingly it's one of the songs featured in the club scene in American Psycho. As for its unique sound, I disagree. Marshall jefferson and frankie knuckles had made similar tracks by that time. Acid Trax ( youtube.com
Queen: the "live aid" charity concert.
youtube.com
Is this the greatest performance in live music? Probably not. But its perhaps the greatest recorded live performance.
And what a time and place to perform it.
Even if you don't like queen, this was a master-piece of stagecraft.
I keep remembering...
Styx, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, the Travelling Willburys, The Who, Aerosmith, David Bowie, Autograph, Poison, Kansas, Men at Work, Michael Fagson, can you tell I'm reaching for straws here now, Sup Forumsros?
And don't even get me started on the punk scene -- Wendy O. Williams & the Plasmatics; no, don't get me started...
Or maybe...
The Cult: She Sells Sanctuary

I used to dress like that. God, we looked like fucking idiots....
just bought spiritual healing and once upon a cross fuck yeah
Too much for my own damn good. I am a 90'S kid but I was always in 80's. My soul belongs there.
Mmm. Wendy O, with Lemmy.

Though I was always more partial to Girlschool / Headgirl:
Prisoners of the damned
Find another land
How about these three dudes...
plenty of others too. Prince. Purple Rain was a fucking masterpiece. Michael Jackson before he became just "wacko" - Thriller, Billie Jean, even Bad, were un-matched at the time.
metal, well, the entire NWOBHM, Goth (Alien Sex Fiend. Marvellous band), Einsturzende Neubauten, Front 242, New Order rising out of the ashes of Joh Division...
so many others to list, and not just one genre.
80's Norwegian Black metal?? come on
Emperor formed in the 90's.
Animotion's obsession sums up the 80s for me
Yeah But Mayhem and other 2nd wave shit formed in the 80s too and correct me if im wrong emperor is part of that wave
lol I was about to post KJ
Decades project fag
Animotion - Obsession

True, but the majority of the second wave shit formed in the 90's.
why? are the 80's cool again? agedfag here... got to grow up in front of early MTV, when they still played music...
anyway, do you want to know about the crap, or the good stuff? The 80's were full of commercial crap and a wonderful scene of original art which was opposed to it. Some of the worst(mostly) and the best come out of that era.
Anyway, I always liked this guy's post punk compilation: youtube.com
yeah, some of that is from the 70s... fuck off kid.
Heart -These Dreams
m.youtube.com
its all aspired though from then none the less good shit
holy shit
There was a lot of fucking god tier music to come out of the 80's, but 80's pop fucking sucked and that's what most people think of if you mention 80's music. Not even trying to be a hipster fag, that's just plain fact.

less "shame" as much just plain amusement at it, really.
I still have fond memories of dancing to that song in a club in brighton with a gorgeous half-afghan, half-lebanese girl in a corset that was one cup size too small for her, and flashed her nipples at everyone each time she raised her arms.
I got many envious looks, that night.
anyhow, have another absolute fucking classic.
