I want to teach myself how to like punk, so where should I get started?
So far I have Green Day and My Chemical Romance, but they're really mainstream. I really like the upbeat stuff like American Idiot, Basket Case, and Welcome to the Black Parade.
>inb4 edgy faggot Yea, but I have grown tired of hip hop, I keep listening to the same things over an over again. It's all Illmatic and Mm.. Food, no other artists have meaning.
Bullets and octane were cool, offspring are mainstream, the flatliners were aight.. Shit dude I'm not seventeen anymore I can't remember anymore..
Connor Martinez
Nofx. Dillinger four.
Cameron Foster
Can't say whether or not this is punk but it's close enough, Tears Don't Fall - Bullet for My Valentine Drown - Bring me the Horizon Still Waiting - Sum 41 There is - Box Car Racer again, might not all be punk but i listen to a lot of punk and i really like these
Dominic Turner
Wew, I mean "meaningful" punk. I like the drums, to be honest.
I'm not edgy enough to listen to Nickelback
Mason Murphy
Dead Kennedy's
Owen Green
>im tired of listening to a shitty genre, so ill move to a somewhat lesser shitty genre and become and edgy faggot

Isaac Watson
Tbh I don't know why people hate on Nickleback so much, the music is usually decent if not good.
Luke Moore
MILO GOES TO COLLEGE
Joseph Wood
i hope you consider suicide every day
Hunter Gutierrez
>bring back horizont >Sum 41
Nathan Mitchell
This is seriously all you need. To start, anyway. Changed my perspective on music forever, and every single song they wrote is at least 8/10.
Jaxon Evans
>decent if not good Yes, spend your fucking life listening to decent if not good music and then kill yourself.
Dylan Turner
Try surfer punk, its a nice segway into the genre my personal recommendation would be fidlar
Jace Myers
Nah fuck punk

Isaiah James

Nolan Jones
Engaged mate
Jacob Hernandez
Pixies are not "punk" Pixies are just good old rock music. Pixies are like wayyyy too good musicians to be considered punk.
The world punk literally means "noob". Punk was created by novice musicians that only knew a few chords but still wanted to write songs. The Ramones are a good start. Then there's the Clash, operation ivy, the misfits, the adicts...
Sebastian Martin
Find this and give it a listen.
Levi Davis
Kanye west
Henry Jenkins
This thread gave me cancer. There is no punk here.
Blake Sanchez
Violent femmes or the stooges if u wanna get to the core
Drown - Bring me the Horizon Still Waiting - Sum 41 -- These songs are similar to what I'm looking for. If these aren't punk, please enlighten me to what they are so I can find more of it.
Also, The Ramones was a great suggestion, love 'em.
Logan Sanders
Dead Kennedys. Start with Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.
Pennywise. My fave is About Time.
NOFX... because you gotta, the tragedy of them is that after they came around everyone wanted to sound like them and it's why we have dozens of samey sounding punk bands.
The Clash. Punk is attitude, not a sound.
and fuck the Sex Pistols, they were a phenomenon, it's too late to enjoy them, all you get when you buy their albums is shitty music from people who don't play instruments.
Julian Mitchell
So glad Ian left that pleb tier band to start God tier Fugazi.
Anthony Bailey
Blink 182
Angel Mitchell
SITTING ON THE WAITING ROOM
Noah Price

Gabriel Young
start with buddy holly, who wasn't punk but whose music was one of the blueprints for the ramone's sound, along with the beach boys
iggy pop and MC5, important pre-punk
then ramones, often said to be the first punk band.
after that, sex pistols (although they're overrated) the clash wire suicide television
punk sort of morphs into new wave and post-punk with Blondie, Talking Heads, the Cars. alongside them were legit punk bands black flag, bad religion, dead kennedeys, and slash/punk hybrids like suicidal tendencies.
that shit OP is talking about is just shit. people using the label punk to sell records.
Evan Rogers
Rancid - out comes the wolves
anything operation ivy
uhh. Transplants are pretty cool.
casualties are fun.
GBH is fun as well
DRI is fun.
big d and the kids table is fun as well.
some of this is ska/punk so bare that in mind but its punk. there is no actual definition of punk you dont have to listen to punk music to be punk but the genre itself is rich except when you look at all t he stupid as fuck subgenres.
Dylan Diaz
The Dead Milkmen
Aiden Edwards
Eh, Fugazi is okay. Minor Threat is just pure awesomeness though all the way through. Fuck the straight edge movement though, even Ian's sorry that happened.
Hunter Ross
Look up pop punk then, neck deep, knuckle puck, modern baseball. Might like those user
Lincoln Richardson
>pop punk faggot here go listen to blink 182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte and New Found Glory I'm pretty sure you'll like them. records from the early 2000 new stuff is shit tier

Angel Taylor
I forgot Rancid, but somebody mentioned them. More importantly, I forgot Operation Ivy.
Jose Ramirez

Cooper Sanders
Samefag detected
Jace Powell
plebs can only like one type of music.
"going punk"
It's not a fucking lifestyle commitment unless you're an epic tool. Most well rounded people like many styles of music, and don't let it define their entire existence.

Daniel Reyes
>that's a paddlin' My fucking nigga.
Brody Ortiz
Limpwrist
Joseph Rogers
OP HERE Also, pop punk is more understandable and the drums are more syncopated correctly--not the semi-offbeat "I just hit shit" on the drums, even though I get it, it's the punk attitude.
All of this shit is fucking terrible. Fall Out Boy is probably the worst out of all of them.
Not bait.
Connor Rivera
MCR is not punk neither is green day
Cameron Gomez
Going punk seems like a change on the lifestyle at least that how I read
Joseph Jackson
LISTEN TO AVENGED SEVENFOLD, PANIC AT THE DISCO, PARAMORE, BRING ME THE HORIZON, FALL OUT BOY, ect doesn't matter if mainstream if you think they are good then great
Jack Rivera
The Adolescents, Fugazi, The Clash, Sham 69, Crass, Circle Jerks, OFF!, Suicidal Tendencies
Jacob Ramirez
what would you consider them then? They are so punk.
Ethan Diaz
Hah, I found it impossible to take you seriously OP but I guess many didn't. Or maybe people into punk want to be helpful. Anyways that's some nice bait I suppose.
