Sleep Paralysis Thread:

Sleep Paralysis Thread:

How many of you have experienced SP? What kinds of things happened to you?

Do you really believe what medical people say, that it is all just hallucinations? If this is true, then why is it that people from all different parts of the world, and from different cultures experience the same thing?

Shadow people, the hat man, the old hag, and other similar stories seem to be cross-cultural. So how is it that so-called experts can just poo poo it all away as the brain making this shit up?

Your thoughts?

I bet you also believe in a paradise and Gods

Go to the paranormal thread , they will have more opinon , here is just filled with newfags and cunts

The old hag? I had not read that that was common..

Used to have it real bad with hallucinations but now its pretty rare to have it at all.

Worst one was a dream where this old crazy woman was chasing me and people I knew around a warehouse with a kitchen knife in the dark, then I woke up paralysed and she was at the end of my bed and started running at me screaming. Shut my eyes until ti stopped..

Is that the old hag?

The figure I seen in my sp was like a static fuzzy skinny and blurry. I couldn't make out the face. I wake up drenched in sweat all the time.

let me put it this way : Ever experienced Déjà-vu? you'd bet you DREAMED of that scene like a month ago or something right? other people across the world would think so too, but in the end its just a fucking déjà-vu brain-trick. stop believing in fairies...

Happened to me a few times. Not a good feeling.

Once there was this creepy statue doll thing just outside of my vision range that kept getting closer.

I tried to have a lucid dreaming through sleep paralysis, but it's scary as fuck and hard to do. Haven't had one yet.

Hallucinations? Fuck no.
Was just stuck and couldn't move, felt like you can't breathe and you scream internally but nobody can hear you.
If you're seeing black figures then stop being so fucking scared of the dark.

What about figures who look like static on an old TV set?

Do those count?

These so called experts are not some think tank in a lab. It's like one or two scientist who wrote something about it because one of their patients had symtpoms. Most things like this are just brushed away by doctors and other professionals because it's not relevant or important enough to dedicate serious time to. I mean, it's not lethal and most people who talk about it are into paranormal stuff and conspiracy theories. It's the same with aliens. No government is going to dedicate serious funds or even ask his superiors for the money to investigate fucking aliens. It's like asking to be demoted or fired. I know there are a few US based documents on aliens but they didn't find anything significant so they're funding was cut and asking to start a new one is a career killer.

>Me, when i was 11.
>Wakes up arround at 3 am.
>Can't move anything
>Wtf.jpg
>Tries to yell. Doesn't work.
>See's a black, creepy looking humanoid with long claws entering the room.
>He seats next to me.
>Puts a claw on his lips, as a way to say silence.
>Lays a hand on my chest.
>DoesntFeelsGood.gift
>Try to shake my body.
>He notices some movement and runs from the room.
>Can move now.
>Runs to mommy.
>Never seems him ever again.

That static is called Static Snow and many people have it when they wake up. To see it around a shadow is normal. Humans like to make things seem familiar if they don't make sense. Like the face on mars. We try to see faces or human figures in random objects. That with static snow will make things look like static creatures or men. Try rearranging your room or leaving a night light on. Those both help static shapes.

Not in this case. These beings were an actual light source. They were bright, and lit up the room around them.

>be me, don't remember age but I think around 13
>wake up, open eyes but can't move
>see a woman with pale face and no bottom part just floating in my room
>felt like my mouth is being forced-open
>try to scream but can't
>for some reason can move only my tongue so I try to block my mouth with it so nothing gets in.
>after few hellish seconds managed to move, cover myself with blanket
> take it off, everything is gone

Just dreams op. I watched shitton of horror films and saw someone nearly dying when I was young, its no surprise my mind came up with this weird stuff.

Either that or a ghost tried to face-fuck me.

When you fall asleep your body produces a chemical that paralyzes the body. That way you don't go running off somewhere or hitting someone while dreaming. Some people do not produce enough so they sleep walk. Others produce too much and are paralyzed more often than others while they wake. Of course the bodies still in sleep mode so you dream. It's not unfathomable that you have and nightmare when you can't move and you're trying to.

Maybe set up an alarm clock when this happens most so you can try to force yourself awake. I don't think there are static monsters in this dimension so maybe asking your doctor for medication to help you sleep the entire night could be helpful. Sorry your having such scary visions but I'm sure there are methods to reduce such episodes. Sometimes there are no cures though or doctors simply do not want to help. I know that feeling well since my wife has endometriosis. Very hidden VERY painful desease.

>happened to me when i was 11 or 12.
>i woke up and couldnt move, it was at night.
>then somebody entered the room.
>looked so much like my dad's best friend that i tried to say hello but it felt as if my mouth was duct taped.
>somebody who looked exactly like my dad entered the room also. i tried to yell at him to help me but i just started panicking.
>the mysterious figure said something to my "dad" and came closer and it felt like he choked me.
>i kept my eyes locked at the ceiling.
>he laid on top of me for a good 15 minutes. i was terrified and in shock.
>the mysterious figure leaves the room and my "dad" seemed to cut my arms and legs free from tape. i must've created this image in my head because i always felt like no matter how bad it gets, my dad saves me.
>i was so thankful it was over.
>i woke up naked to my dad knocking on the door.
>throws me new clothes and leaves.

im pretty sure it happened once or twice earlier as a kid as well.

you actually got molested lol

When I was younger I had an incident. I woke up to hearing laughing coming from the hall. I couldn't move or scream. A sleeping bag came floating in and I could see an indentation of someone sitting in the middle. It (whatever it was) sat on my chest and I couldn't breath, it felt small like a dwarf. I called it the invisible man. Scared me up until I was 17.

Another time I was 18 in my room I woke up. I thought I could move and when I went to pick my head up I seen the back of my head and heard the weirdest sound ever. Like imagine a weird distorted dial up sound. I laid back down in my body and woke up. When I woke up there was a big black figure in the corner of my room. I put it off as me waking in rem sleep. Thats two weirdest times its happened to me I have had probably 10-15 times throughout my life.

only once but it was horrifying. i could see spotted shadows moving across the room and i could hear inconceivable whispering. i somehow managed to hit my head on the bed frame which snapped me out of it

If I sleep on my back i will experience sleep paralysis multiple times a night almost instantaneously after falling asleep. only experienced a few things that were actually unsettling. Scared the fuck out of me though when I was a child. If I sleep on my side it wont happen so i just do that. its just so much mroe comfortable sleeping on my back though.. so it kinda sucks. but yeah.. just random shit I find things that are actually in my room will take on different forms or my brain just cant process everything thats going on because its like half asleep so like my Tv will turn into some random mess of polygons and ill hear weird noises. the other night big shadow flew over my head and a giant moth was flying around in the corner of my room. a week ago this animorphic frog slippy lookin motherfucker was at the foot of my bed just opening his mouth. idk i hear shit all the time when sleeping/waking up. but yeah a lot of it is just ur brain not being able to process things or things take the shape of things because your brain just puts it together. like a green cup on my desk turned into a lil pitbull barking at me.. shits weird man... scariest thing was this shadow flew over me and then went under my bed I looked to the side and it came out and stared deep into my eyes and it was just this faceless void and started fucking me up and i couldnt look away and then i blacked out.. legit harry potter dementor shit was fucked up man.. cool stuff. idk what to think thought i lost some of my souljizz or something after that. AMA

I get it often. It's a stress thing for me.

I can tell its going to happen right before I fall asleep. It's hallucinations, nothing paranormal.

The paralysis itself doesn't bother me as much as what I see and the dysphoria that accompanies it.

lmao with my dad in the room? sure keep believing that bullshit. he wouls've fucked him up.

he supervised it, but your brain kept you from trauma its funny

Had it once, it was this dark gloomy shade like man standing in my room, but that was it. It wasnt as scary as it was disturbing tho

It's quite clear that he was pimping you out to his friends.

Only had a few SP moments. Nothing supernatural, but really fucking spoopy. I'll share in a sec

trying to fuck with my head obviously. i remember everything clearly and i would've know if there was a cock in my ass lol. also to add my dad was a great dad, always let me know he loved me and hugged me a lot.

He did that because of how guilty he felt for letting his friend fuck you for a month worth of rent. It's ok user it can happen to anyone.

Have experienced many of these.

Had a giant werewolf hand reach up from the end of my bef and grab me. I've had a skinny little man kneeling in the corner of my room like a praying mantis shaking his head unnaturally fast and making this screeching sound. Have had two little dark beast jump around in my bed, could feel and hear the matress creek with their weight. I've often experienced something trying to pull my covers off of me. I've also had out of body experiences where i floated away from paralyzed body and into wonderful lucid dreams. Falling of my matress gliding through a hole in the floor, blanket and all sliding with me, drifting down through a tropical canopy. I've had my ups and downs with these things.

thats laughable. everythinf about my description describes sleep paralysis perfectly.
>couldnt move or speak
>saw dark figures which had familiar faces
>panicked and was scared shitless

and the reason i was naked mustve been because it happened during summer and i often took my clothes off when it was unbearingly hot.

not convinced.

>be 16
>gonna go to prom with 9/10 crush tomorrow
>go to sleep happy as fuck that night
>dreaming about prom
>all of my friends are there
>dancing with crush to favorite song
>slow song comes on
>say something along the lines of "I must be dreaming"
>music stops
>everyone stops dancing
>everyone's just staring at me
>look at crush
>her eyes are pitch black
>everyone starts walking towards me slowly
>eerie music starts fucking playing
>everything's on fire
>try to wake up
>can't
>maximumspook
>crush bites my throat
>felt so fucking real it woke me up
>realize I pissed myself
>didn't go to prom
>didn't talk to crush or friends for a while

SP is a point where Consciousness may leave body. It is called OOBE or Astral Projection. Same thing.

Fear is the main problem and it reaches into darkest corner of our souls. Or subconsciousness whatever You like.

thats a nightmare

Is there anyway I can induce this? Ive heard sleeping on your backs helps but nothing ever happens :(
Wanna meet hatman and shadow cats

i get this shit atleast twice a week it sucks

Also spent the next few hours paralyzed. Mom found me in tears and pissed jimmies. She thought I died or had a seizure in my sleep and called the paramedics. I was able to move right before they got there. The whole ordeal was really fucking embarrassing

>Wanna meet hatman
Trust me..... you don't.

Try OOBE hemi-synchs or Astral Projection tehcniques. You will be suprised.

Go to sleep in all your clothes. That always does it for me.

With me it's sleep deprivation. Every time I stay up for days and try to wake up a few hours later via alarm I get sleep paralysis

I met a little thin man with a hat and moustache. Is that him?

Yeah you edgy fuck.

Could you see his face or was he wearing a silver mask?

I've had it a few times and I've never had any visions seen anything. I just wake up (or at least feel awake) and can't move.

The specifics of hallucinations are not at all cross cultural, so there's that.
What and how this is experienced has changed a lot in the US in the last hundred years as well, from ghosts and sprigs to 'hat men', aliens, old ladies with distorted faces.

It's just hallucinations. The brain fucking up because most of yours systems are supposed to be asleep, but for some reason, some fuck up in your brain, your eyes open up and your occular synapses go live.

No mask, but he was pale and his eyes were black holes.

I think that just being aware that hallucinations may happen in this state can be enough to trigger them. Enjoy.

I do everynight
I really really do I wanna make a deal

Maybe stop leaving the TV on bullshit channels?
Its just you still dreaming even though your eyes are open. So if this is a recurring thing I'm betting you see something that is static on a daily basis?

The people who contribute more to Sup Forums than porn are typically newfags who haven't filtered to a board more fitting their interests yet.

Go explore the site FUCKER.

I can teel my strory when i had it.
>be me drinking with friends
>get semi drunk
>go after Party to my friend as planed
>we sleep together nohomo
>i wake up because i hear something
>see my friend going in cirles
>wanted to say the fuck dude but couldnt
>i didnt know about sp before so i thaught it has something to do with alcohol
>im pretty relax i though that it was a bad
prank
> hear my friend move and talk in the bed behind me(he said he talks a lot in sleep)
>He was sleeping by the wall
>never felt such fear
>the fuck is going on.jpg
>my "friend" stops and starts slowly going to me
>i could only close my eyes
>i feel my tears coming out
>screaming in my mind
>having the feel that im going to die
>"friend" goes on me
>realize its not my friend its something bigger
>my friend is pretty small
>look
>see probaly the most scary thing in my life
>wake up at normal time
I think that i got so scared that i passed in my sp out.

>then why is it that people from all different parts of the world, and from different cultures experience the same thing?
Why do people from all different parts and cultures of the world have experience warmth when they sleep with blankets?

OP, you are one retarded faggot.

It's not paranormal tho.

mite b cool

Had it happen to me once, was waking from a crazy lucid dream that was creepy in a way and that dream lasted all of about a minute flat. I laid back down on my bed in the dream and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I got stuck, no control over any part of my body except my eyelids to blink. Right next to my bedside was a most ominous dark figure, enveloped in velvet blackness. It's hands were on my chest, they were cracked and flaking char, pinning my body all while uttering a deep echoing growl. I screamed internally and willed my body to move after what felt like forever but when my arm came up to grab the creature, it faded away into the shadow. My neighbors came by to see if I was okay 10 minutes later, said I'd been screaming bloody murder for 15 minutes straight. Shit sucked.

I had a really weird incident and i've been having various forms of sleep paralysis since, although not any recently. I'd be happy to elaborate if anyone's interested.

Underrated post

Please?

The fuck dude, are you drunk right now? I didn't understand any of that shit, what does "goes on me" mean? Did he pee on you?

it literally does not work like that, the hallucinations are completely random

I was trying to type fast also my eng is bad. I dont know how to say it. I gues "he" went on me like he wanted to ride me.

I hate it. I use to have episodes FREQUENTLY because insomnia, and inability to sleep. I mean, I understand what's happening, but there's always the fear and helplessness. I usually just keep my eyes shut and try to wait it out.

Bump

people hear of "shadow people, the hat man, the old hag and other similar stories" and then think "ohh yeah, well taht kinda fits i guess" and continues the trend

It can go both ways. Next time, see if you can leave your body. Just imagine yourself getting up and soaring out of your bedroom window. After that you'll find yourself in a dream. Sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming are often connected. Try not to get scared though. It's when you try to resist the paralysis that the fear grips you. Accepting it will help.

But-but
.... you said no homo....

"...it is all just hallucinations? If this is true, then why is it that people from all different parts of the world, and from different cultures experience the same thing?"

That's because the fear part of the brain is activated. So people are fearing something during a SP episode. And yes, I have had SP b4.

>be me 19, drunk with friends
>3 of us share double bed
>fall asleep
>short time later, awaken but can't move. only eyelids work, and i see this tall dark figure approach the bed on my side.
>it looks down at me, and had red eyes
>it says "you know who I am" to me in a scary whispery type voice
>I am trying to scream but i can't
>scared shitless
>all of a sudden, i hear a loud scream from my other side.
>the girl next to me sits straight up and is screaming in shear panic mode.
>i turn on the lights and she is an absolute wreck.
>finally, calm her down and ask her what's going on.
>she said that a black cat was sitting on her chest and it had red glowing eyes, and was saying something to me.
>WTF.jpg
>
>none of us slept until the sun came up. this was too weird, and i thought it to be a strong coincidence that we both saw beings with red eyes. that part still chills me to this day.

I didnt saw what he wanted to do. But when i opened my eyes, he looked like the thing from Mama. It was a woman. So i gues no homo?

I have had it alot of times. Mostly when I drink excessive amounts of dark liquor. I quit drinking jack daniels and it stopped. Always saw the shadow people, once thought I heard breathing directly in my ear, always has a terrible vibe. As far as it being paranormal I don't really think so.

omg... i had the same thing - a black creepy thing with claws who hugged me with the claw as i saw it from my peripheral vision but coudnt move and was screaming inside.

Part 1 because I think it'll be a lot to type.

Well, it all started the night of the 20-something-th of October 2012, I was like 13. I woke up in the middle of the night for no reason, which happens sometimes, but I had trouble falling asleep again and I started daydreaming for a while. When all of the sudden, my vision started shifting colors and shaking violently with a loud buzzing in my ears, I obviously got scared shitless. After that all I can remember is an image of a figure leaning over me, it was weating all black and had a sort of short almost skull like white head with two large black oval eyes and no mouth, and I also remember looking down at my bare stomach at one point. After all of that I woke up in my bed and I was so scared I went to sleep in my parents' bed.

>be me
>visiting family in New Zealand
>jetlag.jpg
> family doesn't have enough beads so I sleep on couch in my grandfathers hunting room
>surroinded by animal heads and two sliding glass doors
>still up at around 3AM NZ time talking to my friends back in America
>start to doze off
>sleep paralysis hits me hard
>wake of to sliding glass door opening and man with fucked up face walks in
>try to scream but can't breathe
>wake up
>about to shit bricks so scared
>fall back asleep
> another sleep paralysis the same night
>wake up and feel something on my back
>think it's just the cat
>just then I hear "I'm not the cat whispered in my ear
>open eyes and see all the animal hear looking at me
> go for a walk to calm myself
Only sleep paralysis story I have

>all the time

How often do you experience SP? or are you talking about nightmares

>trips
>no one checked em

Checked

Then it was the hat man. The guy in the silver mask is entirely different.

Most people are afraid of the same things, that's why they see a lot of the same things
I have SP fairly often, it's fucking awful, but i never hallucinated the old hag or the hat man.

So you can get close enough to see this? Usually he hangs out some distance away, and his other 2 shadow figures are the ones who come close.

The hat man is in charge, but always stands in the background while the other two approach and touch you.

>be me, only 9 years old I loved shrek so much,
>I had all the merchandise and movies
>I pray to shrek every night before bed thanking him for the life I've been given.
>Shrek is love I say, Shrek is life
>My dad overhears me and calls me a faggot
>I knew he was just jealous of my devotion for Shrek
>I called him a cunt
>He slaps me and sends me to go to sleep
>Im crying now, and my face hurts
>I lay in bed and its really cold
>A warmth is moving towards me.
>I feel something touch me
>Its shrek
>I am so happy
>He whispers in to ear "this is my swamp
>He grabs me with his powerful ogre hands and puts me on my hands and knees
>I'm ready
>I spread my ass cheeks for Shrek
>He penetrates my butthole
>It hurts so much but I do it for Shrek
>I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water
>I push against his force
>I want to please Shrek
>He roars a mighty roar as he fills my butt with his love
>My dad walks in
>Shrek looks him straight in the eye and says >"Its all ogre now"
>Shrek leaves through my window
>Shrek is love, Shrek is life

Holy fuck, I've seen them too. Always in threes. They poke at me with a metal claw type thing, and laugh while they do it.

Scariest shit ever. I hate when it happens.

Seems not. But then, this guy wasn't so scary once he revealed himself. It was like he had been terrorizing me, moving things around, putting a kitchen knife into a chair, slamming doors and creaking the open. I was scared, and when i'm scared I get angry as a defense mechanism and I was shouting for him to come out and fight me. When I saw him his eyes went wide as if I caught him by surprise, and he ran away.

ive had sleep paralysis twice in my life. it is not that bad at all, and is way over hyped because of freaked out /x/tards.

both of my experiences with sleep paralysis were almost fun to me. once i realized i was in sleep paralysis, i started to try to move my body just to see how far i can move my arms and legs. i folded and unfolded my legs about twice, managed to rub my face with my hand, and flipped myself over onto my stomach. the most interesting thing i did was while i was flipped over on my stomach, was to try and imagine something coming out of my closet and touching my exposed foot. of course, something came out and touched me EXACTLY where i knew it was going to touch me. that is interesting because it pretty much just proved to me at that time that all this shit and freeky monstars that everyone writes about is all in your imagination.
if you keep from freaking out, none of that /x/ shit happens. its similar to "i think, therefore i am" in a way that when you realize youre in sleep paralysis, you start freaking out because you just know that those freeky monstars are gonna come out and fuck you up. youre steady worrying about it, so it eventually seems to happen. thats how dreams work, at least thats how they work when you realize youre dreaming.

>Be me
>spend 4 months waking up sweating and screaming because Freddy Krueger kept getting my ass
>soon to be wife moves in - Freddy's gone
>still wake up sweating and screaming

Sounds like y'all met with The Rake. He'll be back again someday. He'll always be there.

And 2 things started happening after that incident, the first being that I started seeing figures sometimes for a split second, sometimes standing alone, in groups, far away, just down the street or sitting on a chair in the house. They all looked more or less the same, wearing all black with a black and white mask with two big black circles for eyes, except fot this one time when it was wearing a blank white mask. Those didn't last for very long from what I remember. The second thing is that I started getting various forms of sleep paralysis, which I never had before. The first time it happened I woke up at night and I couldn't move, but there was also a very loud buzzing in my ears, and it would get painfully loud everytime I tried opening my eyes, I could also feel something over my stomach. After that I had times where it was pretty standard, just laying in bed almost unable to move, scared and not much else. I also had times when it would be as if i'm awake and moving, but with poor motor skills and all I could hear is a buzzing. It took me a few times to realize I was never really awake in those. That's about it, sorry for no immersive greentext.

medfag here, ama about SP.

I've experienced it once myself, was pretty scary at first but then I realized what was happening and it wore off a moment later.

>Happens like twice a week.

None of that seeing shit out of the corner of my eye bullshit, or feel like someone i sitting on my chest. My eyes are open but i can't move or make a noise for like 10 seconds. Used to scare the shit out of me, now I find it quite relaxing.

I was stuck and couldn't move and I saw felt myself fall on the floor off my bed but just floated just above the floor.

i remember thinking >ohgawdwhymemannn
>justmakeitquickandkillme
this was when i had my first sp and i remember feeling really frightful and wanted it to kill me fast for some reason...
