You should side chain your kick to the melody so it pops more but thats just my opinion.

oops i forgot

Thanks! I'm a complete beginner regarding drum production and basically everyone has been suggesting exactly what you're saying. I'm going to use better and more dynamic drum samples for the finished version and learn how to do sidechaining.

Damn it im high as fuck

What DAW do you use?

I use Logic Pro X, but apparently you weren't actually talking to me lel (I'm OP).

Just an EP i worked on with a friend. Please let me know what you think!

Use Ableton

Well for starters make sure your using good equipment condenser mic with a pop filter and an interface if you can afford one. Make sure you get one that will let you lower the gain on the mic if you can.

>Record in edison
>Bounce to playlist
>Link to mixer track
>Low-pass
>Slight verb
>Even slighter delay
>Multiband

In that order.

Yeah unless your not retarded.

I use this mic right now: rode.com/microphones/nt-usb

Is an interface still recommended? I know this probably sounds extremely dumb, but what really are the benefits of an interface vs direct mic recording?

DEEP House

It's all about the pre amps. It's what differentiates a usb mic from a NEVE console
