Everyone below this post got trolled.

not doing your fucking homework

Can u not

Tell me one way your equation relates to reality

log(12*sin(32))

ehm, all jobs that count nowadays are math-heavy?

-12 biotch

Dis gon be easy nigga
4+3-(5*(2^2))+2-(((4^(1/2))-3)^2)
9-(5*4)-((2-3)^2)
9-20-((-1)^2)
-11-1
-12

-14

4+3=7, not 9.

“P or not-P, that is the question”

I collected the other loose +2 in the 9

(-1)^2 is +1

This

-12. Next.

It's -12

Next round. Getting harder.

I always sucked at the functions, can someone maybe explain ?

it's -12

Well, given the starting point, we can find all the values for ascending odd inputs starting from 3:
f(3) = 5
f(x) = f(x-2) + 1

f(5) = f(5-2) + 1 = f(3) + 1 = 5 + 1 = 6
f(7) = f(7-2) + 1 = f(5) + 1 = 6 + 1 = 7
f(9) = f(9-2) + 1 = f(7) + 1 = 7 + 1 = 8
f(11) = f(11-2) + 1 = f(9) + 1 = 8 + 1 = 9

So are we allowed to assume that the function is continuous and linear? If so:
f(x) = x/2 + 7/2 = (x + 7)/2

And hence:
f(4) = (4 + 7)/2 = 11/2 = 5.5

4 + 3 - 5 * 2^2 + 2 - (4^.5 - 3)^2
4 + 3 - 5 * 2^2 + 2 - (2 - 3)^2
4 + 3 - 5 * 2^2 + 2 - (-1)^2
4 + 3 - 5 * 4 + 2 - 1
4 + 3 - 20 + 2 - 1 = -12
ez

its -12 in my brain. that will do.

7-20+2+1 = -10

PEDMAS
4+3-5*2^2+2-(sqrt(4)-3)^2=
4+3-5*2^2+2-(2-3)^2=
4+3-5*2^2+2-1^2=
4+3-5*4+2-1=
4+3-20+2-1=-14

-(-1)^2 = -1 => 7-20+2-1 = -12

Learn to arithmetic you stupid cunt.
4+3-20+2-1=
7+1-20=-12

I bet you can't this time.

Full image would help bro

-(-1) means it has to be added, not subtracted. Many seem to miss that part.

0.8033909538

you literally just told me what to put into my calculator. Gj man that was a fucken tuff one you are rain man

a square is always positive. Many seem to miss that part.

-(-1)^2=-1

squaring the -1 makes it positive, which you missed

thats a stupid way someone who didnt learn american solutions please explain

Glad other people are getting -12, the rest are autistic

7-20+2-1= -12

Everybody not knowing that is an insanely stupid wanker.

and the negative sign before the brackets makes it negative again.

Which you missed

am i good at math if i can do this in my head?

FUKEN SCHOOOOLED SON

>4+3-5*2^2+2-(2-3)^2
>4+3-5*4+2-1
>4+3-20+4-1
>11-20
>-10

It's a pretty easy question, anyone who's moderately intelligent could do it in their head.
Unfortunately there's a lot of people who probably couldn't do it in their head.

Mate, I'm glad you got the right answer, but root of 4 = 2, thus 2-3 = -1, and -1^2 = 1

>just

Lel

Oh, the poor fool.

so youre saying im a math god

yeah thanks, i realised that would have been easier shortly after I finished but oh well

It can be explained like this:
>Americans

you're wrong, you fucked it up completely on the third line

-12 is the right answer.

you are right

That's some assumption you're making there. Can you prove that's the case for all recursive functions of this type?

He's saying you're merely average, wank stain

-1^2 = -1
I think you mean (-1)^2 = 1

I'm a fan of these maths question threads, would anyone be interested in more if I made them every now and again
maybe even other topics than maths

-12

Yeah we all love doing basic math and feeling superior because most people are shyte at it.

haha look at the filthy cunt who couldnt solve it in his head.

I am your god now math peasants bow to my almighty powers. I am rain man without the retard

pretty much this lmao

Right I'm gonna make one now. Hope some of you fags know how to integrate

Not this time Sup Forums.

The function increases by 1 for every 2 x
Assuming it's linear, it increases by 1/2 for every 1 x
f(3) =5
=>
f(4) =5.5
Easy.
Neeeext

>That's some assumption you're making there. Can you prove that's the case for all recursive functions of this type?

Not that guy. Also not sure how to prove it, but fairly certain that the only solutions to f(x) = f(x+a)+b are the linear functions with the appropriate slope.

can you prove this and post pic. Havent done functions in years

28+21+12= 61
Next

Sorry, was wrong.

What i did was read the info and comprehend it really.
It's more an issue of understanding than proving.
But i'll try to explain
f(x) = f(x-2) +1
This means that increasing x by 2, increases f(x) by 1
f(x)-f(x-2)=1
In other words
f(x+2)-f(x)=1
If x=3,
f(5)-f(3)=1
Divide both sides by two
(f(5)-f(3))/2=1/2
Realize the first part is really f(4)-f(3)
f(4)-f(3)=1/2
f(4)=f(3)+1/2
Insert value for f(3)
f(4)=5+1/2
You can take it from here
Fuck i accidentally proved it.
Oh well

>(f(5)-f(3))/2=1/2
>Realize the first part is really f(4)-f(3)

That's where you're wrong. Or where your implicit assumption of a linear function is hidden.

EVERYONE IS FORGETTING THE FACT THAT THE SQUARE ROOT OF 4 IS +2, OR -2. SO THE QUESTION HAS MULTIPLE ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!

It just clicked
f(x)=f(x-2)+1

this means that increasing x by 2, increases f(x) by 1

thanks mate

I did just now
frtyd.com/go/gQ0i_bAaEj/Pizzapls

This is true, made the mistake myself

yes but he can see it is linear because if x is increased by 2 f(x) is increased by one.

>THE SQUARE ROOT OF 4 IS +2

No, you don't define the square root like that.

hes an absolute madman!
a math genius right here lads and gents

-92

but you square it dipshit

Nope, √4 = only 2

How do I get gud at math?
I mean math, not calculating things.

I've basically forgotten all of my A-Level knowledge from High school and I wanna go to University.
How do you learn math in an effective, fast way?
Getting the concepts and mechanism down, abstract concepts in a way you can understand it, ...

Maybe there is some math wizard (Math graduate) in here.

>that's where you're wrong
My first post clearly states
>assuming that the function is linear
You stupid cunt

>yes but he can see it is linear because if x is increased by 2 f(x) is increased by one.

That doesn't make sense.
IF you assume a linear function, the answer is correct. I can give you a lot of other functions that fulfill the given criteria which are not correct.

For example, take a function periodic in 2 and add it to your linear solution.
f(x)=1/2*x + 3.5
is your solution
g(x)=1/2*x + 3.5 + sin(pi*(x-1) / 2)
is another one.

khanacademy

salman khan is math wizard you seek

well then the question is fucking impossible without being specified

>My first post clearly states
>>assuming that the function is linear
>You stupid cunt

> My first post
Not the one I replied to. Meh.

I'd recommend going to the AQA or OCR or whatever website and downloading a bunch of past papers and mark schemes. It'll all start coming back to you quickly

Nope. (-2)*(-2)=4, so √4 can equal -2

>well then the question is fucking impossible without being specified
Yes. So what?

I get 1 / (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + ... + N + ...), but I can't seem to simplify it any further. Any help?

-12

How about this?
