I can't boot Deft Linux or Puppy Linux from USB on a Windows 10 computer?

I can't boot Deft Linux or Puppy Linux from USB on a Windows 10 computer?

What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to get into my sister's computer to see nudes

Why install linux when you can just get into her computer?

>She got a password
Really?

you gotta change the BIOS settings to boot from USB, I had the same problem on my computer

I don't know but when you get the nudes you have to post them.

Yeah she has a password...

That's why I'm trying to boot Linux from a usb

I did

1. USB Removable Disk

I will post some

Can you do that through boot menu still? I thought 10 changed it.

OS doesn't affect boot menu dude

Yes.
OP here

Hold shift and then press restart.
Keep holding shift until you see the boot menu.
Go to advanced options
Then go to UEFI firmware settings
It will ask you to restart. Restart.
Should bring up some weird screen with a tab that says "boot"
There you go

My problem is I've downloaded puppy linux then used pendriveinstaller to install the file to the USB.

When it said complete, I removed the USB from my computer (after of course pressing the "safely remove hardware and eject media")

Then I put the USB into her computer (that is turned off)

I turn it back on.

I go to boot settings and change the boot order to USB removable disk.

After that...It just boots up the same fucking way...

puppylinux.org/wikka/UEFI

me again
that's odd. have you tried other distros? what about the way you're loading the image to the usb? If you can, load the os from a DVD, if the computer has a DVD Drive. Also, try using a 32-bit distro.

I tried Deft Linux
(But I suspect pendrive installer or Rufus couldn't transfer that correctly )

Now I'm trying Wary Puppy 5.5
That seems like it transferred correctly to the USB, but I can't get the computer to boot from the USB...

Also, correction, I think this computer is Windows 8

I don't have a DVD or CD.

32 bit distro?
I thought I did

Just an assumption.
Maybe you should Disable UEFI and Enable Legacy Boot. Maybe that could work?

I don't even know what this is talking about

Maybe I'm a little bit confused here, but if she has nudes on her PC, running a different OS won't let you have access to them right?

I thought about it.
That won't fuck anything up on her computer somehow, will it?

Go to BIOS.
Turn Legacy Boot on, turn something like [something IDK] Checking (I'll look for the something) off.
That'll do it.

It might change the bios startup, but you can always turn it off later

No, you can undo that at any point. It just changes the settings of the BIOS only.
Turn off Secureboot in the BIOS, that might be it.

It shouldn't do anything bad, but if does go with idea

Ok I'll try it

Her laptop just died...I have to let it charge for a little

So I guess I'll try
Legacy boot
then
Secure boot off

Is this true?

Also, another question...
Can I save the pictures to the same USB as the one I have puppy linux on? Or do I have to plug in another seperate USB?

You should be able to still have access to them.
I'm on a Live USB boot right now and I can have access to my hard drive without restriction.

bullshit

>Is this true?

I install Linux all the time and, whenever you use the disk, it lets you run a liveboot version of the distro or install it over the current OS. That means you don't have access to any of the files currently on it.

If you have access to her computer, just install some reliable spyware / keylogger from a USB.

I would love someone to correct me if I'm wrong here, but I've never heard of anyone installing a new distro and accessing old files unless they did some kind of recovery.

I'm trying the legacy boot now
Will say if it works in a couple minutes

UPDATE
The legacy boot...
Idk if it worked or not...

A screen came up saying that SYSLINUX could not find kernal image

What the fuck.

I just want linux on a fucking usb and it be fucking right. I've done this 3 times and fucking peninstaller has fucked me over.

What type of Linux do yall use?
And how do you get it onto a USB to where it fucking runs?

Fuck now the computer won't boot normally
How do I get it to go back to normal?
Idk how to access the boot menu from here

I use Linux mint and I use Universal USB Installer
pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/

It depends on the computer, I'm guessing it's a dell, so try pressing F2 or F12 during the BIOS screen

Thanks F2 worked

whew...

Alright I'll try Linux mint I guess

Anyone ever try to use Deft Linux?

Can I get a download link?

OP just follow the six minute video.
It should help you with installing linux on the usb.
youtube.com/watch?v=S0gLlSIqKwU

Should I use 32 or 64 bit?

ITT: op won't deliver

32 Bit

pendrivelinux.com/downloads/Universal-USB-Installer/Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.6.4.exe

It's 1.4 gb though...

Give him time, he doesn't know how to use a computer

tl;dr make sure you mount the ISO to your USB.

I use poweriso to do this. It is very fast, and very easy to use.
>create bootable USB drive
>select ISO
You're fucking done.

Is space an issue? How big is the USB?

Why is that better than Rufus or peninstaller?

It's going to take me 3 hours to download at least

I'm not saying it's better than any other program, it's just what I use and it is very simple to use. That's why I did tl;dr.

I also tried to use Konboot. But that didn't work.
I can't tell if her computer is Windows 8 or Windows 10

Get Damn Small Linux.
It's 50MB but I'm not sure how good it is.

Download and run a dictionary password cracker. If you sister is a dumbfuck, her password will be simple and you are in in seconds.

Anyone know how to get Deft Linux to work?
Peninstaller couldn't put it onto a USB

It's a pin.
Numbers for the password.

Its very fundamental. Bare minimum.

How many numbers?

Can I browse her files from it?

Idk.
At least 4 probably 8 maybe more?

The point is I can't get into her computer to download a password cracker because I'm not in her computer...Fuck

I doubt it. Windows uses a file encrypter for each user, and simply using another OS will lock you out. Depending on how long her pin is, you could crack the pin.

Torrent the geek squad tools. They have some pretty good password crackers/bypassers

Do you not have a computer yoirself?

This. You could also go with BlackArch.

Yes

Crack the pin how?

Like what?

I can't remember honestly. It's been a couple years since I've had to use them.

Then go download geek squad tools, boot them from usb and run the diagnostics and password cracker.

If you're going this far just remove the drive and hook it up to another pc.

Link?

I dont have it, im at fucking work. Piratebay that shit.

exactly what I was thinking lol.

Wouldn't it still have a password though?
I'm also afraid she's going to come home soon.
So If I hear the front door open I just want to be able to shut down and yank the USB out instead of frantically stuff an entire drive back into her laptop and screw in screws and shit

Windows encrypts the files, making them inaccesable unless you have the password.

I'll try

This is what I said earlier in the thread and everyone else just said I was full of shit.

orly? I've done this plenty of time on computers with password protected accounts. Not once have I had an issue.

I'd say stick with Linux, if you still have a USB with Linux, bot while holding F12 and select USB device from legacy boot

I did...

This is what happened

Windows WILL encrypt the files if the user so chooses. If the password is changed, the files are inaccessible. But the user has to say 'yes' when it asks before encrypting.

So does Windows encrypt it automatically? Or does a user have to tell Windows to encrypt it?

Would a normie girl know anything about encrypting her files?

Have you tried loading the ISO to the USB with a different image burner?
I've had this problem where one image writer is shit but another is fine

I tried loading Deft Linux with Pendriveinstaller (whatever the hell it's called) and Rufus.
Both couldn't do it.

Puppy linux loaded up fine (I think) with pendriveinstaller but It wouldn't work when I tried to boot the laptop with legacy boot.

Now I'm 2 hours away from having Linux Mint installed.

fuck man. I'm gettting really fucking frustrated

If the hard drive is encrypted
