How much would an ocean weigh Sup Forums?
bump i need to know
10 kg... at least
Less than your fat mom OP
the same as one magma
what happens if i put the entire ocean into a bottle? will the bottle weigh less or more than if it wasn't in a bottle?
this of course
More than a glass of water, but less than 2septillion glasses of water.
It would way the same.
Well, the water in an ocean weighs (neglecting salt content) 1g/cm^3. I asked Wolfram the volume of the oceans, and it spit out 1.332×10^9 km^3. This works out to 1.332 yottagrams of water.
Science!
Which ocean? Fish included?
Total salt water weight on earth = 1.3 × 10^21 kilograms

since a cubic meter weighs around a ton, the atlantic ocean for example would weigh about 310 million kilotons, or 300.000.000.000.000 kgs
idk math i'm probably wrong
a lot
Does this account for the varying strength of gravity with depth?
A cubic meter of water weighs 1 tonne, which is different than a ton.
a lot or water
No, i have only given the mass.
The volume of the ocean is an approximate, and should be taken as such.
I rounded to 1.3*10^21 because that's the accuracy i can be confident with.
Plus, i don't think you realize how little the difference in gravity on earth really is. Even if all the water gathered around equator, it would only weigh 0.4% more. And the water is not even close to being that unfairly distributed. There would be more difference due to tidal forces than that.
