The most recent thing I've read that I've enjoyed is the Dresden Files Series.
Cirque Du Freak was good too, but to be honest, I've read ALOT of books, not really any of the classics, just anything I grabbed from fiction in my library when I was in school. Of Mice and Men, holy shit though.

Walter Moers is a german fantasy writer. Rumo is about the life of a Wolpertinger, a cross between a deer and a wolf who's living in the now lost continent of Zamonia. It's as crazy as it sounds. The book is a good 2500 pages and each page is a masterpiece. He's written several others which are all amazing.
