this happens usually imho when the system is overheated during prolonged usage. just get an average every day garden hose and give it a quick rinse. fyi be sure to shut the power off and ensure the power cable is disconnected from said wall and also ensure you let it dry before switching back on because as you know. water + electricity absolutely whatsoever DO NOT mix. dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
