Sounds like a work-shy attitude. Everyone has to start somewhere and for some that means doing an internship, whether paid or unpaid. It's up to you to be discerning and actually choose the best option available to you.
Not necessarily. I did a month's unpaid internship last summer (UK). It's a very broad term and there's not much standardisation.

Scotland is a strange place. 2/4 years do not go to final scores, unis arrange for paid internships..... A lot of courses here let you have a placement year but you still receive your student loan rather than actually get paid for it.
