Right or left, the worst part about Trump is that he has this cachet of being "an outsider" and "rich, therefore incorruptible".
While he is an outsider now, that's pretty irrelevant. The guy has money, but wants more money. The only deep personal motivation that I can see him having in any of this is to increase the prestige of his own name, gain power and gain money.
In other words, he's just like every other politician, except without any experience. He'll just be a reckless pawn for whatever corporate interest du jour decides to backchannel him some money.
And don't get me wrong, it's the same with Shillery. My point isn't that Trump is any worse in that regard, but that he's the same.
And I'll be damned if I'll pay more in tax than I already do. I want the old republican party. Small government and conservative fiscal policy. Hell, I want the Libertarian party. Build me some roads and a grand military, and leave the rest to me. And get out of China's pocket.
However, I hate the "socialism" whining, too. I'm 36, own a house, and pay about $5000/year in school taxes. Assuming I don't move somewhere cheaper and stay in this house for 30 years, that's $150,000 in taxes to pay for other people's kids to go to school. I don't have kids, and my wife and I don't want 'em. Socialism indeed. We already have it aplenty.
And what do you think private health insurance is? Everyone pays into one large fund, and the neediest people receive the most benefits. Sound familiar? All mandatory insurance is a tax, just collected for profit instead of "for the people".
I may sound like a hypocrite, but I'm not advocating for a national health system or for publicly funded college. My only point is that the "muh taxes" and "dat socialism" arguments are retarded. We're already paying for all this shit.
Take a min to add up your federal, state and local taxes (income, sales, real estate, etc). Then add in your car insurance, health insurance, 401K payments, etc.
