So you are only slightly less pathetic than all the adult kindergarten Finns ITT

We have professional soldiers, you know. We just have large reserves.

I sort of wish we had national service here.

But I'm also really happy that we don't.

Conflicted lads.

Yeh, not very useful in civilian life on its own, employers do like a service record as a complimentary thing though... still had to go to college to get anywhere though.

It's the kind of thing you hated when you had to do it, but think about with nostalgia later. It's bunch of late teens, early 20s guys forced to live in a tent in the middle of winter for two weeks in a row. It's cold, wet, shitty and you get maybe 2 hours of sleep a night. It sucks but it's still kind of a life defining thing you will never forget.

Yeah I can definitely see the benefits of it. But when I was 19 I took a year off before uni and worked in a doctor's surgery and saw and did a lot of interesting stuff.

So it takes away peoples' freedom and own choice for a bit, but pretty much guarantees a unique and interesting experience. Which I had, but not everyone does. It has its pros and cons.

Capitain Leutenant

Sure but it's also the first time most guys get the "freedom" to live away from their parents. I met some spoiled brats in the army and they surprisingly didn't grow up in any way.

The real question is, how would you. You have 30k active manpower and no formable reserve on that. You have some serious equipment, yes. but no trained manpower to even maintain it. Kekd

>they surprisingly didn't grow up in any way.
that's a shame, that's the main thing I'd want people to take from national service

Currently an e-1 airman basic, in a year I'll be a fourth year cadet though

Are you stationed at Ram/Spang? I'm headed there in February. Any tips?

the majority of conscripts mature a bit for the service, it's just a few useless fucks who will always be useless no matter what you do with them

Thinking of joining the military. Sort of directionless NEET right now looking for work? What branches are good for someone who knows a lot about the middle east?

>Australia
>Full Track (Corporal)

looking at rejoining as an officer in the Reserves.

Are you going to kill yourself against the Russians, OP? Is Sweden really going to war against them?

>What branches are good for someone who knows a lot about the middle east?
Know one gives a shit about that knowledge, the more important thing is can you speak any other languages?

Master Corporal

I thought shit would improve once I got promoted to jack, instead it just got worse.

obviously you didn't boot-fuck them enough.

Basically this.
Also when I went in there was a guy in the same company who did nothing but cried the first few nights, they sent him to mental evaluation and then home. I don't understand why you would even go to service if you can't stay even few nights away from home without crying. There's always civil service.

OR-1 Szeregowy

Cancel your fucking orders and save the headache. The novelty of Germany wears off pretty fast with the poisonous leadership and apathetic attitude of the entire base. You'll either find a German slut to snuggle with or sink into alcoholism in a year. If you're coming to Ramstein, have fun burning out and ending your career here. Trust me, you will.

sicario , specialize in cooking

That really does fuck all. Shouting is just blah blah blah. What builds character and what makes a team is doing some hard shit together. And not because someone told you to but because you want to see what you can do. Some people don't want to and no amount of shouting is going to change that.

Technically i was a cadet after my military service but i never even stepped a foot in a barrack or wore an uniform, or did anything other thn registering for military service and picking up my release sheet after two years

Did you have to administer morphine to dying men?

What exactly do Americans stationed in Europe do all days? Just sit around and wank?

I'm going to Ramstein. My mother is a German national and lives there so this is kind of the perfect assignment for me, I'm pretty familiar with life in Germany. Just not sure how the base is.

You're a soldier of a foreign nation, cuntface.

Chavs or posh cunts
What file you on?

I don't see the problem here

Nah, never had to do that much. Never saw combat. We got sent to the Baltics and Poland a lot to just set up and poke Russia with a stick.
Pretty boring enlistment overall, but the Army as a general organization is so shitty, nothing could have made me reenlist for more.

If they invade then yes, I'll have to. I'm not active duty anymore, but I'm young enough to be called up if that happens. I'll do it too, actually more excited by that prospect than what my service has already been about. It's not like I wanted to go poke Afghans with a stick because the government wants to play in the big leagues internationally, but I did it anyway because I said I'd serve. If they tell me to actually defend my own country instead I'd be proud to do so, at least it would mean something.

But I doubt they would. It's not like we have anything except iron ore, lumber and hydropower, most of the country isn't even that strategically important (the far north may be a target in order to get at Norways north atlantic coastline though).

>all these snownegroes thinking they are capable of stopping Russia

kek fucking cute blond faglords

Literally no one thinks we would win. You think the Danes thought they could win when the Germans rolled in? Of course not, or the Norwegians. You shoot back anyway, that's how it works.

ok i can't make fun of that

respect for not just fleeing and standing for your nation

i'm in a similar position..
