Give me one legitimate reason as to why Reddit isn't better than Sup Forums currently and of as recently?
>not bait but an actual discussion towards Sup Forums shit content right now

the fuck is reddit

You're right, Sup Forums Is fucking cancer right now. It's been going down hill for years, and the summer fags just make it worse.
Reddit is still really shit though, with the exception of a few subreddits. There is actually very little real discussion, because all opinions that are not the norm are down voted and never seen by the majority.

bumping for sake of sth new

Fair enough
I still feel I'd rather have my content based on a "like system" and have a chance for varied content, unlike Sup Forums currently which has the same exact threads every fucking day

With a 'like system' like Reddit, you would see the same exact threads every fucking day, because as said, anything that's not in the Reddit 'mentality' gets downvoted to all hell. I'm not saying that Sup Forums does it right either, it's all just kind of shitty.

It didn't have the same thread ad infinitum before, been here for over 6 years. It's that the obscurity's been lost, lots of irl normies, edgelords and whatnot thinking they're in some club of cool people.
I mean, srsly, the first 2 rules WERE to not talk about Sup Forums.

I currently browse reddit and albeit I do see repeat posts I see nowhere near the amount of "the same kinds of threads daily" as we do on Sup Forums
I do agree however if your not with the majority you'll be downvoted to oblivion

Sup Forums isn't a like system, you're right, but it is a system based on what grabs attention, and that's the real key to free and open discussion. Just because you don't like an opinion, doesn't mean it's not valid. You should be explaining why it's not valid, it's literally your word against theirs, the opinion with the most evidence comes out on top.

I have been searching for a better chan for ages, that actually has some real discussion. The problem is, all the decent ones are filled with cp and "models" which is something I don't want to see.

I've been browsing Sup Forums since 07/08 not as long as other anons here obviously, but long enough to see a noticeable decline in content and oc

I agree with you there, I was just saying that if you look at the scale of Sup Forums vs Reddit, then on Sup Forums with a 'like system' in play, you'd see the same threads over and over again. It would turn into somewhat of a popularity contest which is really what a lot of Reddit is from what I saw when I did use it. Was on Sup Forums for a long while, now I browse every once in a while, but I won't go on Reddit because of how their mentality is. That is, of course, my own opinion. Bottom line for me is that, neither are really that great, but I'd rather spend a couple hours on Sup Forums than on Reddit.

The quality has gotten so watered down, because now all you get are faggots complaining or trolling on r9k, attention whores (male) literally on every board, porn/trap/furry/sexual shit.
I can't remember the last time I've seen an MS painting, random images clipped together explaining conspiracies, new memes (other than on s4s).
m00t had said that the Sup Forums system is such a system works only if you don't feed the trolls, reply to bad content by making a good thread, OC etc. Nowadays everybody's just digging the hole deeper.

And to clarify I did not mean Sup Forums should have a like system I rather meant I would deal with reddits like system than the content currently being posted on Sup Forums now

Oh, my mistake, I can see what you are saying now, thanks for clarifying.

The Russian version of Sup Forums 2ch.hk is good- has lots of boards, all of which have some kind of movement, they're not slow, they have they're memes and etc, but I rarely see porn or furry or whatever bs there, they actually use text to communicate.
It may be in Russian, but never forget that's what Sup Forums boards are for.

I agree
Especially these past 2 years oc has declined significantly if you filter your threads and exclude fur and nudes and all that other shit there's usually only 1 or 2 threads

m00t had once said that the traffic stays pretty much the same throughout the year, i.e., no influx of newfags during summer, but I believe that the mean age of posters has seriously gone down.

Agreed. All the newfags just want to circle jerk. There is a huge fundamental lack of OC, because why post it if the only few replies you will get is "faggot" and "don't try and start a new meme"? That was such a big part of Sup Forums. Not to mention it's like half the anons think this is the only website with porn ffs.

This.

>m00t
too bad that cuck didn't take his own advice

Czech'd

Nice trips m8

Why do you think that is?

This
I remember when you could post this and Sup Forums generally had a good time doing , you know? Random shit
Now probably less than 60% of people browsing would understand this joke without having to google it

Are you comparing a whole website against one shitty board?

upboated

It's as if that 60% genuinely enjoy living in the shadow of older anons, leaching off their philosophy for online interaction.
Tbh, i don't think a lack of understanding of these jokes is a fundamentally bad thing, just that there are very few OC jokes like this created anymore. That's where the cancer really stems from

>I want real discussion
>But I don't want free speech and icky stuff
You're the same as the rest. You just want people to agree with you.

>2016
Sup Forums is Sup Forums and reddit is reddit

...

Can't see this shit on Reddit

Fuck off. Is it really that much to ask for a site like old Sup Forums without an overabundance of cp?

It's not even seeing it really, it's more fear of getting v&.

>It wasn't the Redditors who killed Sup Forums

Please fuck off back to your shitty hugbox, faggot. Your hurt feelings aren't wanted.

Nice dubs.
The internet doing it's thing I suppose. In a book recently read on the culture and all that jazz (in German):
>internetmeme.de
Getting more general people into the scene, make the obscure memes, rites, leetspeak, etc more accessible to the general public, but the conclusion it stated that just as knowyourmeme tends to do the same thing as encyclopediadramatica (though in an understandable to the layman way), the creative OC creators will find new ways to obscure their stuff and huddle it away from everybody else, new places to form communities and coalesce.
Problem is, I don't know where the creative people are right now. Reddit's a giant circlejerk as well, even though it has some good things about it too. somethingawful forums are money-gated and heavily modded.

BBS systems like these are quite the anachronism these days; almost any other website ties you to an identity - the culture and the technology of sites such as Sup Forums and the like in this manner are something that needs to be preserved. I was real sad when Yik Yak basically forced everyone to adopt usernames.

Reddit's moderation is even worse than Sup Forums's but apart from that I don't see it either. There are sub reddits that are actually interesting or useful. It's really a matter of how you use it, but all this stupid newfags are blindly shouting muh 4channel and miss out on the fun.

Your part of the issue with Sup Forums
I try to post a legitimate discussion, do you really enjoy those tranny threads that much faggots?

>Lurking Sup Forums
When you understand something about gopd threads, you'll want to stay in Sup Forums

...

Sup Forums is awful right now; nothing but trap, furry, loli, ylyl, cock tribute, cringe, and faces threads. Barely any raids or original content on here anymore. Reddit's like system is a retarded circlejerk but the site has far more variety and less edgy teens who just figured out how to type slurs on the Internet. Been on here since 2006.

I think there is a bit of a romance (for lack of a better word) in being the underdog, the outsider. The thing is, this used to be, and still is to an extent, a refuge for the outsiders. People want in, but I don't really know why.

reddit has asians going wild which puts it over anything here.

>From the conclusion of zhe book (thanks to googletrans for the almost decent job):
Protection of the obscure in certain Internet subcultures function such memes as "shibboleths" (see Chapter 11). Their than (correctly perceived) using defined group membership their ignornace bared newcomers and strangers. The result is an interest to keep certain memes Obscure: Your popularizing it devalued as local currency. Popularization is perceived as vulgarization and loss of creative potential of a meme. Various graphics circulate that characterize this process as a gradual descent quality of a meme about different popularizing platforms (see Fig. 116). From the perspective of memetics by Dawkins and Blackmore, the most popular memes are the most successful; from the perspective of such Internet-cultures lose Meme on the way to popularize their essential qualities. KnowYourMeme overlooking a wide audience on the other hand produced costly meme-explanatory videos that avoid profanity and no significant prior knowledge presuppose. This book also deciphered obscure memes and explains the particularities of their cultures of origin for a uninitiated audience. The measures led meme-cultures will survive it: as creative as they produce new memes, they also produce ever new methods, curiosity and collection attempts to ward off from the outside. The burning old secret language vocabulary follows the invention of new. An unpleasant level of interest and sympathy by the public is necessary answered trolley, shock-images or dodging in new secret rooms.ms.

This is like the opposite of Bateman. It's actually promoting discussion

We see the same fuckin threads on here all day

Was meant to be a 'still' in there.

If you've been here that long you should really know how to filter those threads. You never have to see them if you don't want to. It's not hard.

I do like these subreddits

m.reddit.com/r/ImGoingToHellForThis

m.reddit.com/r/WTF/

And yes Sup Forums is invested with cancer, to much dicks, lolli, fap and sauce threads and of course fuck all original shit

Where are the quality rekt and meme threads

Reddit doesn't allow loli's.

that's all I need

I wonder if the time for imageboards has past, or at least this one's; which leads to the question of what's to follow? Where will the people coalesce to form what Sup Forums once was? It's going to be small and obscure for sure and damn sure people aren't going to ruin it by talking about it here like, for example, how wizchan got flooded with people for r9k.

Both are filled with a bunch of faggot pseudo-intellectual types who pretend they're all better than they really are. At least people on here admit they're fucked up more often

Agreed

All those loli and shotta

This guy leikd pizza

I sure wish you weren't on spot, but sadly you absolutely are.

Newfags will never know how much this guy loved it

not trying to sound like a Sup Forums blowhard, but i have never actually used reddit and wouldn't know how to. I'm not trying to be some sort of elitist, im just a really heavy duty internet-inept pleb i suppose.

reddits been better for a couple years now
thats why theres no more reddit hate threads
unpopular opinions/interest and censorship are the only reason people stay here
and porn
porn webm's are the only reason I still browse Sup Forums

Nice dubs
With governments wanting to censor the Internet and give us all online ids, this truly is the time of the end of imageboards. Anywhere online you can be user really. It's just how long we can hold onto this, it's entirely up to us, while we still have some scraps of freedom left online

not letting this thread die so fast
