Back to kpop general with you

Illmatic is a very very good 90s New York rap album that doesn't really represent what rap sounds like outside of New York in the 90s.
listen to it, enjoy it if you like it, don't hold it up as a template for rap you listen to after.

Fuck off with your cultural appropriation, whitely

Listen to The Predator by Ice Cube

I dont listen to k pop

No, it's shit.

Listen to superior black electronic genres like Techno, House or Breaks

Ready to Die is also a good place to start. Nice beats, nice flow, decent lyricism.

NY state of mind will leave you empty. It is simply the greatest rap song of all time

Biggie is so boring. OP listen to section. 80

Nobody gets into hip hop these days by listening to the classics. Listen to well received modern albums and then work backwards based on the themes you like from modern stuff (gangsta vs conscious vs abstract etc.)

Pic should be official entree point for hip hop

...

It probably depends where you are coming from (musicaly I mean). I find deltron 3030 very accessible while being very good

...

what do you currently listen to OP?

...

...

start with the 80s and go from there
by all means necessary/takes a nation of millions are good starting points

Posting 80s starting points now

...

...

These are some good hip hop albums for 95'. I think it provides a good sampler.

...

>superior

kek

All good places to start OP.

...

...

This is a good one, OP.

some of wilco's older stuff; yankee hotel and summerteeth.

ready to die
enter the wu-tang
do you want more?!!!??!
aquemini
illmatic
reasonable doubt
midnight marauders
black on both sides
late registration
modal soul
madvillany
cosmogramma
exmilitary
good kid, m.A.A.d city
black up
a toothpaste suburb

this should be a pretty good start. its roughtly sorted by year but i left out a bunch of artists and subgenres i dont like but this is still pretty varied so you will probably find something you like and can then go look for similar

hmm, idk why but i feel you'd like some new york shit. try joey badass - 1999 and B4.DA.$$ are his best projects. then work backwards to the classic 90s stuff, nas biggie etc

You don't start with Kool Keith there. You want to start or with pic related, then go to Sex Style, then that album.

illmatic is probably the greatest rap record of all time but it wont really mean anything to you if you dont already understand hip hop or the context of the albums release

Pic related did it for me.
Right mix of being poppy enough to be easy to listen to, but also good lyrics and depth that made me want to pay attention to and appreciate them.

Exmilitary might be a little challenging

Pic Related and Tommy Wright III are easy listens

What's the best hip hop album to listen to for Halloween?

Gravediggaz - 6 Feet Deep
youtube.com/watch?v=no2PunnLdTQ

Earl Sweatshirt, I Don't Like Shit I Don't Go Outside
really good overall give it one good play through before you judge it

>all of this samey old school crap for nu male poseurs

fuck just that song, listen to the whole album

definitely mix some old and new stuff if you actually want to enjoy the music and not just listen to it as a curiosity thing. id say start with good kid mad city and 36 chambers but thats highly subjective, i just like those best personally.

'95 was the best year of rap hands down G.O.A.T.

Try the new shit:
Lil yachty, Lil boat, Lil steamboat, Lil frigate, Lil man'owar and their gang moniker fleet mob

>exmilitary

please don't toss this bullshit in there, nothing to do with the rest

Surprised not to see pic related mentioned, Sup Forums has changed
