The way I see it, if two sides hold strongly opposing views, than the truth is somewhere in the middle. Which means that in reality, the US has done very little to directly influence Europe, rather European countries desire to be under US influence, that includes sharing its good and bad bits.

Even if trade deal did not directly undermine worker protection, it can do so indirectly by making trade easier and therefore promote goods from countries with worse protection. On the other hand, US workers are not entirely without protection and are paid more than European ones. Especially eastern europe could actually end up ahead in such deal, which would eventually mean higher gdp and lower amount of renumeration from western europe.
