What

Danish language is some unsolved mystery.

Danes don't come to 4channel

And it's not even the worst thing in Danish.

and Danes have the highest HDI of all those countries
makes you think
flexing your brain every day pays off

>a rational expression in everyday counting
yeah. that might be the case.

how can we strive to get equal representation for danes on 4chin?

the Polish language should go one step further and use pi as a base of counting 2bh

americans count everything using pie and all it gave them is diabetes

It should be 7+(0.5(5×20)) tho

>using decimal system
>having more than 10 symbol to express number
lol so plebs

that's 57

We do it the same way as the German one. And when you have to write numbers along it often goes wrong because first you write down the seven.. and then the person says 90.

This is what happens when Scandinavians and Slavs have babies together.

It's Monday, so they're all busy getting their manboobs reduced.

>Somali mathematics

How are numbers in Norwegian? Are they retarded like in Danish or easy and logical like in Swedish?

The latter

how is that ever 97?
am I retarded and just not seeing it?

also, if your language doesn't say it as "90+7" then it's a nigger language

Fin sucking sweden

Wow

we have same system as britain
islanders smart
german and swede ones retarded
fuck them

>we have same system as britain
except according to OP's picture you literally don't.

I am more suprised that Krautz do it the retarded reversed way. What the fuck.

To be fair, what is "ninety" if not "nine tens"?

you could say that about my language aswel, but it really isn't.
it's more like the swedish one from OP
or is it?
I don't even know anymore
fuck you for making me doubt

They say it like Arabic

really makes you think

>german and swede ones retarded

We have the same system as you, actually.

90 = nittio = "nine-ten" = 9x10
80 = åttio = "eight-ten" = 8x10
...
...
...
30 = "trettio" "three-ten" = 3x10

...

how's that retarded?
it's backwards, but it's still sensible.
unlike the french and the danish.

this better not be the actual system

Because when someone is telling you a number 97 you start by writing 9 not seven.
So when you note down something like 1453756 you dont have to rethink it revesed when noting it down.

Same system here

you have to be pretty slow for that to happen

good point, but does it really make a difference?
if someone dictates you the number, they can just go digit by digit instead of saying the entire number.
and if someone tells you a big number and you have to take note but they're not dictating, then you have to remember the entire name anyways.

Well our numbers have the same logic as the Swedish numbers. 97 is ninety seven and not like four times twenty and a ten plus seven

Sorry, but not everyone has that kind of magic.

I hate people doing that when you have to note down something. Just say it like 1 2 3 4 5 6 and not 12 34 56

7 + 90 is how we put it, just like Germany.

lies

can somebody pls tell me if chinks go like "nine tens seven" or they have a word like "ninety-seven" that means that?

japs go "nine tens seven"

Well according to your rules the correct way to say it would be 6 5 4 3 2 1 for 12 34 56

I'm fed up with this retarded meme

thanks bro.
then that's not like the british.
just like I suspected.

The actual meaning for the 10s is looked over the average dane, and we instead use abbreviations. The logic is mostly not taken into account and we instead just "label" them, much like the basic 0-9.

90 is "halvfems" in Danish, but that's just an abbreviation from "halvfemsindstyve" which translates to "4½ sinde (times) 20."

updated version

are you talking about the picture? it's just a funny image m8, that's all, relax.

explain

Counter numbers and rhymes and stuff like this are a useful linguistic tool. They can tell us a lot about hidden dialects and languages that lie subsumed under present-day languages.

>123456

Sto dvadtsat' tri tisyachi chetiresta pyat'desyat shest.
Cтo двaдцaть тpи тыcячи чeтыpecтa пятьдecят шecть.
A hundred twenty three thousands four hundred fifty six.
t. move along

Whaat? No, when somebody tells you a number I don't like when they speak out the numbers like 12 34 56 because thats harder for just writing in down.

Thats even worse and not very useful.

123456 = Einhundertdreiundzwanzigtausendvierhundertsechsundfünfzig

12 34 56 = Zwölf Vierunddreißig sechsundfünfzig

1 2 3 4 5 6 = Eins zwei drei vier fünf sechs

90 7
дeвянocтo ceмь
devyanosto sem'
ninety seven

I'm pretty sure he asked why are there two scratched numbers before the 90+7

According to german rules it would be one hundred three and twenty thousand four hundred six and fifty

So (100 + 3 + 20 )* 1000 + 400 + 6 +50

typically numbers are read like

"7 x 10 + 7 " "ceмьдecят ceмь"
"8 x 10 + 7" "вoceмьдecят ceмь"
ceмь = 7
вoceмь = 8
дecят = 10

but 90s are read like

"9 to almost 100 + 7" "дeвянocтo ceмь"
дeвя (дeвять) = 9
нo = glue two parts of the word together
cтo = 100

If i remember correctly there was a proposal for a language reform to fix this.

дeвянocтo (devyanosto) 90 sounds like дeвять нo cтo devyat no sto literally "nine but hundred"

thanks

>Counter
-> Counting numbers

In Arabic it's like German "7 and 90"
But depending on the position of the number it would be either "سبعة وتسعون"/"sab'aa wa tis'uun" or "سبعة وتسعين" "sab'aa wa tis'een"

Don't japanese have some fucked up shit for counters when inserted in sentences?

Sto dvadtsat' tri tisyachi chetiresta pyat'desyat shest.
Cтo двaдцaть тpи тыcячи чeтыpecтa пятьдecят шecть.

(100 + 2 x 10 + 3) x 1000 + 4 x 100 + 5 x 10 + 6

If the take words apart, then yes.

One hundred and three and twenty thousand and four hundred and six and fifty
