So, how do we fix this shithole? It's full of underage memesters. It has barely music discussion

Reddit is even worse tbqh, so don't send me there.

Be more like Turny, the resident grumpy old git

Everything on this board is related to:

>Death Grips
>Grimes
>Radiohead
>Nick Drake
>RYM top 20
>Misc. Fantano circlejerks

What we really need to have is better genre specific discussion. For example I'm a huge house music fan, and I haven't seen a single discussion about that anywhere.

Everyone will tell you to go to /bleep/ despite house being as old and varied as hip hop or metal its just lumped into the chaposting general.

This post could have been written in 2013, 2010, 2008, etc, and it would still hold.

I don't think it's time to change Sup Forums; I think it's time you realise that THIS is how this board is and has always been. Adapt or die.

basically this.

This board is babbys-first-day-outside-billboard-charts, after 3 months and working through the general essentials and a few main charts you should have a basic understanding of a bit more variety of the last 50 years of music, albeit a very rockist one.

After 3 months you realise just how basic this board is and once you've finished laughing at people calling themselves ''patricians'' because they have a a library full of p4kcore and TheNeedleDrop favourites instead of chart music, you should either leave and start actually exploring music or stay and shitpost (or both).

Don't forget Kpop General

Yeah, pretty much this.

I've been in this board since 2011 and it's always been this way.

>grumpy old git

Turny listens to some of the happies, most upbeat and fun music on the board though.

Sup Forums isn't designed for long form discussion. Aside from that music is really hard to discuss when you can't listen to the same song at the same time with the person you're having a discussion.

The only thing this board was ever good for was the reaction to new releases/news and for a quick way to sift through shit to find good releases.

Other than that unless there is significant musical news or releases out (or the board decides to pull together a project that isn't a dumb meme album) then there is no point in posting everyday.

So what do you recommend? I've seen a couple of decent music subreddits, but they're few and far between.

Sometimes it's nice to get an unbiased perspective on things from regular people rather than some douchebag who writes for one of the major music blogs; especially when it comes to some major release where groupthink is really pervasive (e.g. Frank Ocean's new album).

You shouldn't need to. If you have sound reasoning behind your opinions and can express it accurately, the other persona wouldn't even need to hear what you are discussing

I'm not so much concerned with the context of people's arguments or the philosophical implications of songs; all I want is a place where a wider variety of content is mentioned.

There's so much more music out there than K-pop, Grimes, and Death Grips; but those threads always get ignored until they 404.

you guys should just come and relax at the kpop general with us

Well, what are your favorite artists and genres?

Nah man, I've been trying to avoid softcore porn lately.

I've been really into house music lately, trying to educate myself more about the Detroit scene by listening to
>Andres
>Moodymann
>Kerri Chandler (I think he's from NY though)

With regards to more recent stuff, there's a lot of really good shit coming out of Australia I've been listening to
>Harvey Sutherland
>Mall Grab
>Andras Fox

On an unrelated note, I've also recently discovered R. Stevie Moore and have been listening to him nonstop for days on end. I love how whimsical he is and how awesome his tracks sound for being self-recorded.

there was a house thread yesterday
there's often a house thread
if you cant find one just start it yourself

I don't know what any of that shit is but you find boards that stem from those genres/artists, and post on their general board.

I think its more music relatable now
goes to different thread and finds Sup Forums trash thread
Yeah maybe anons right

invitation interviews like on what.cd

Well, where is the place that isn't like that on the internet, Mr. Enlightenment?

haha
I occasionally pop in and lurk for a bit, but music discussion tends not to be foremost on my mind when I do
