Are there any Sup Forumstards who were or currently are in the military? What country/branch do you serve in? Do you regret joining or would you do it again?

I can't serve in my country because of terrible eyesight, (vision tests are mandatory even for non-combat roles), and when I was a kid it was kind of a dream of mine to join the air force.

German military, 8 years now.
Spent more then 2 years in Afghanistan, good money, couple good memories, a lot more bad memories and a mild PTSD.

Army here. Still in. Was worth joining.
Pros:
-was engaged to a cunt who cheated, stole my $, and claimed i raped her or a friend.
-now that im free of her I went from 4 partners to over 30. Dog tags drop panties.
-trained to be a killer
-good benefits
-difference in attitude and drive

Cons:
-hurry up and wait
-bull shit officers
-bull shit rules of engagement
-bull shit pc bull shit. somehow girls want to fulfill all the same roles while an 18 yr old girl has to meet the standard of a 59 yr old man. and they like to scream sexual harassment over everything ruining careers

US btw

is the training difficult?

United states navy
5 years
Regret it pretty sure the denge fever drugs they gave me caused health problems.
G.i. bill is good, plus learned a trade

Ranger, SOF?

In my country there's a dengue epidemic every year during the rainy season when the mosquito breeds. The government keeps saying they can't do much about it because there's no known vaccine or remedy for it.
Either my government is lying to me or the US Navy is to you.

US Army infantry, will take questions for any Sup Forums tards

>trained to be a killer

Im all for the military but some of you guys cant fight worth a shit and are better off at pushing a broom.
Thats my personal experience though.

Its not hard depending on if you like being physical and active. If you arent a fat fuck and once you learn the game the Drill Sgt's stop fucking with you. Honestly I would do basic all over again because it was the most fun Ive had. I wrestled for 4 yrs and was still in decent shape. didn't join till i was 22

Nah. CBRN within an infantry unit. just got slotted for air assault. no date yet.

what type infantry? im interested in learning more

Your country sucks

Current 4C0X1 Mental Health Tech, regret joining but being medically boarded out. Probably going to get >50% disability payment after 3 years of being in. Not getting GI bill but having higher than 50% is going to be fucking great.

I agree there are some people who shouldn't be in and cant fight at all. and they let a lot of fatfucks continue to stay in. Most of the women Id say shouldn't be front line combat. but there is a few I would totally support.

I'm in a heavy weapons company so we're motorized. Mob around in hummves and laugh at the others that have to ruck everywhere.

Army is a fucking joke.

there is just infantry. once you get that blue cord it doesnt matter if you are airborne or mechanized. you are an infantryman

Im blind in one eye and ive been in for 9 years. I 100% know you can get in for shitty eyesight. I got in, blind in one eye and 20/90 in my right eye. Fucking idiot

poor legs.

Retired submariner 24 years. Would do it all over again.

one of my coworkers was in 10 years spent 8 as a submariner. he made hella bank

I'm wanting to go Marine Corps infantry. I weigh 290 but I'm also losing weight and getting in better shape, should I join? I'm good with following orders and I'm ready to take the life of a raghead

Left the Navy Seals for delta force. I like it better.

lolz

yea lose like 110 lbs if you are around 5'8'' and join.

6'3"

Was USAF. 3C0X2 then 3D0X4 after the comm career got fucked with. Programmer either way. Single duty station for all 6 years I was in. No TDY, No Deployments. Felt like a corporate job where I didn't have to think about what I was wearing. Good experience, above average from what I've heard. Leadership is comprised of those that didn't get a better opportunity elsewhere at least where I was. Glad I got out though. Trained in programming with no college debt.

you been deployed?

ye id say hit like 205 to 215 then join. they are wierd about standards. you can actually be flagged for being underweight

Don't air assault have to do SERE?

I'm looking to earn a commission with the United States Air Force or the Navy. I'm interested in Intelligence, Public Affairs, Security Forces, or anything else engaging that will let me travel. For Navy I'm interested in becoming Surface Warfare Officer. I'm overweight and the recruiters won't talk to me until I get down to the qualifying weight, but aside from some DQ'ing factors I may have to fudge to get through MEPS I think I have a good shot. Any advice about the USAF or Navy in general?

Height? Fat or at least some muscle?
Anyhow, too fat mate.
Expect to run 15-30 miles with another 60-120lbs equipment on your back. can you do that?
Also, what if you get wounded? do you expect your whole squad to drag you arround if that happens?

no. we get limited slots for the unit for schools.

Nope. Every single one that I've been scheduled to go on either got cancelled or given to another unit.

I've been out of the army for 4 years now. Let me give some of you current queers some advice:

+Have a plan when you get out. Seriously. Get a job lined up, a real one, and make sure it's a secured deal that you have the job once you ETS. Don't get out and chill on money you've saved or whatever. You'll be in trouble.
+Dont make being a veteran your whole life. Civilians find it cool for a while, they may ask some questions or treat you a bit better, but they generally don't give a fuck much past that. Also, they don't *get* the stories and shit, either. We use too many acronyms and use equipment that they've never seen before, much less handled. They cannot understand the stories just through the "language" barrier alone.
+Get your wisdom teeth pulled out before you ETS. Just do it.

I'm 5'3", good amount of muscle
Working on that fat issue
Not in the current shape I'm in, but in the end, yeah I'll be able to
I'm not expecting anybody to drag me around if that happens. If I can't get up to walk on my own when I'm wounded, than I'm better off dead in that moment

Typo. I'm 6'3"

Ever wish you went airborne? Just signed papers with airborne option, OSUT soon enough. Any tips? Going in E4

British Army
Intelligence

>Paratrooper
>Brazil

Pay is shit so I don't want to follow a military career when I'm 28+, but I definitely don't regret joining. Learned so much and became a completely different person. I look at my old school friends and I'm glad I chose this life for now.

US Army POG here. 68k, medical lab tech. It's pretty good, getting an associates degree from my AIT. Will take questions

What exactly do you do? Recon?

Unless you are attached to a Pathfinder Coy you won't be doing any reccy, plus the pay is exactly the same as far as I'm aware so there isn't the incentive to do it.

Beforehand I was just operational intelligence, sending out the Estonians to smash up Helmand cause they didn't have bullshit ROEs, now I'm in Signals Intelligence, completely different field but interesting nonetheless.

>What country/branch do you serve in?

IDF. Out now, did my 3 years conscription, then another 3 because fuck it. had no idea what else to do with my time. now i'm in the states.

>Do you regret joining or would you do it again?

Don't have much of a choice. I'm not haredi and you need to do your term if you want any place to hire you

Wasn't too bad overall. would probably go back in.

no homo but every young israeli guy seems fit as fuck, is that because you all have to serve or is fitness culture big over there regardless?

Army - 10 years in

Don't think you're hot shit because you're coming in as an E4 especially when you get to your unit. You're not the same as the specialist that has been in for 2 years. Might try to go airborne when I re-enlist.

basic training is a decent workout. not sure i'd say its a big fitness culture overall

maybe its less shitty food or because everything is either default kosher or halaal? i've never given it much thought.

meant for

I ship to MCRD:SD on Monday June 13th

Are you nervous? You feel prepared?

Its a drug to prevent infection look it up. Does not work well was experimentalm watch how you talk to me sandrat.

I was active duty for 6 years, (12B) and I can confirm this is indeed true. So much fucking PC bullshit.

I forgot to add...so glad I got out before females could do my job. Until they make PT standards the same, it's a fucking joke and everyone knows it.

death by powerpoint is absolutely infuriating. "dont rape" sharp brief like every 3 months

I had to deal with so many sharp sharks. they all wanted the dick and i wanted left alone. and everyone knows its a joke all the 11b's are pissed as fuck

what this guy said. i went into bct as an e4 and got the shit smoked out of me because of it. after the first week i quit wearing my rank just to blend in with the e-nothings.

My eye just twitched a little.

also if you're smart but just naturally kind of a fat fuck, they'll stick you in comm/intel or maybe medical corp.

knew one girl like that. parents were russian immigrants and she was kind of chubby. she did intel.

German Military,
unit most compareable with US Marines,
been here since 9 years, participated 6 deployments, totally worth it

>got the shit smoked out of me because of it
elaborate?

Can you say where those deployments were?

...

United States Navy Fmf Corpsman, did 10 years till the fuckwads medically retired me. I would rejoin if the asshats would let me. I have 2 deployments also.

mostly KFOR and ISAF and EUTM Mali once.
Will be EUTM Mali next too.

also checked.

Same canada armyfag here. Couple tours myself. Same boat Sup Forumsro. Keep your head up and dont dwell on shit or chase the bottle. Cheers.

which was the toughest deployment? any interesting stories?

I head to MCRD: PI in September. I'm definitely nervous. I need to get my running in check. But I feel like I'll never be ready, I just want to be okay compared to everyone else

because there were only 2 or 3 other e4's in our company and we got singled out for "thinking we were hot shit", which of course we didn't but the DS's will fuck with you for anything that stands out. they also know that you have a college degree coming in as an e4 (i'm assuming you have one or prior service) and will probably end up going to OCS so they fuck with you for that too. whatever you do, if you're a 09S, keep that shit quiet as fuck for as long as possible. trust me.

or were you asking about getting smoked? that's just having to do push ups, run, low crawl, sit in the front leaning rest position etc

US Navy, 4 years.

I do no regret it. Got me a a trade, work experience, a clearance, a house, and free college/ healthcare, free travel around the world, and friends for life.

My advice if you join: only take a technical MOS/ rate adn try and get a clearance. It is a complete waste of time if you go in and dig shitholes for 4 years. Get into something like IT, Intelligence, electrician, crypto, etc.

Marines, best time i ever had.

I did IFOR and SFOR, worked with you guys on both deployments. Unlike some of the other countries I had to work with, I liked all of the Germans.

How many Camel jokeys you've killed

how many times did you get cycled from green to blue?

Well... there is not that much to tell really.
Had about 23 Combat Situations in which 17 resulted in fire exchanges.
Rekt a few Dingos [german equivalent to HMMW] and got shot in the shoulder once.

Always asked to go to flash points since i dont have family.
Toughest situation would be taking fatal force against child soldiers the first time.
Everything else is pretty much the same.

I wish they'd let me shoot kids

little rock throwing fucks.

im not in the service, was just asking about getting smoked, that sounds rough man

Amerifat heir

Hast du ein "foreign legion"? Auch, hallo von freunde gegeneuber die see.

3 times I tried to stay in a green billets as much as I could

cheers mate, IFOR was before my time though

You haven't truly lived until you've done the dying cockroach and a few hours of "front, back GO".

wtf are those?

Canadian army

Do it OP, you'll have to work harder than you ever have in your life but you'll love it

I just wanna run around with marines and give people hang over helpers. Any way to stay with the fun guys as long as possible?

Finland

We have conscription so I pretty much had to go to the military.

Served in a navy branch which specialized in ship boarding and other marine spec ops shit.

Was really cool and tried to get into peace keeping but no dice.

It was easy living there for a year but I don't really long for it. Especially since we don't get payed well when conscripted and then wanted to get on with my life so I didn't stay in the military.

Haha well said. I do not understand the question though unfortunately, im sorry.
Greetings back, amerifags really did a great job and it was always a pleasure working with you guys

Edgy

British army

You just have to request the billet and hope

Do you (Der Heer) have a foreign legion? Does the Bund recruit foreign people?

I see. No the Bundeswehr does not offer such 'Legion' but there are discussions about it.

We do have some Offices that work with Black Water and such though

What trade bruh, me too

Fuck, from what my brother tells me about provider calls into tricare, the dependos on bases have to be the worst.

Got any fun stories about treatment/over reactions? You gotta have had a ham planet dependo do something stupid.

So xrays and stuffs?

That sounds neat, physically demanding though I assume?

>every country in the world share the same recruitment methods.

tfw wanted to join marines but couldn't because my shit vision only allows contacs to work and not BC goggles, why live

Darn. Well, the next questions are mostly uniform related.

What do you wear as a combat vest?
Do you still have the web harness?
How do you wear your winter hats "fur" hats? There is some camo fabric inside that appears to go over the ears, but I wanted to see if it was "reg/im ordern".
