Step one: look in classifieds and Craigslist for rooms for rent. Not full on apartments. You can move to an apartment once you've got yourself set up, most these places do leases on month to month.
Step 2: shave. Wear nice clothes and hit the streets. Apply LITERALLY EVERYWHERE. Also look up staffing companies, they can generally find work for unskilled people and pretty quick. Even small towns generally have a couple. What they are their for.
Step 3: consider the military. Seriously. Don't do combat arms unless that's really something out want. Try to do something in communications, intelligence, supply. those lead to good career outside the military, and you most likely never will go in combat if thats something you wish to avoid. Plus you can get a degree while in the military paid for and GI Bill once you get out is pretty cash. Worst comes to worst and you wash out you'll still have a couple months pay built up.
