Because for many there's a fundemental difference in attitude to the threads, this was created out of a shared interest in posting images of waifus and then discussion and chat came later as it was the same people posting. As it moves away and new people show up purely because they see a community and have no interest in the shared thing that sparked it, that's when it changes and becomes damaged.
This isn't all newfags obviously and even from those that have no interest there are cool people like Hand-kun, but there's still shitheads who have no interest and no regard for it, usually also bringing in other cancerous behavior that's when you get people hating on newfags.
Trying to explain anything without the letter e could make a fun game.

I get what you mean about the basis of it changing. I think the chat thing would have happened regardless and i think you agree with me on it. I could definitely see how a bunch of new people coming in for the circlejerk could leave a bad taste in older waifus mouths too. I cant say im not guilty of it myself, but all seeing how to community was with each other did for me was make me more confident in posting and interacting with friendly people rather than this need to be a part of something bigger. The other big reason i came here is that i dont know enough about modern anime, i only know what i grew up on as a kid, and i want to watch a lot more anime. To me i kinda see it as a two birds with one stone thing. I get to meet more new people and i get to learn about modern anime and enjoy this massive thing. There are so many different claims so to me thats different shows i can enjoy. I never got the chance to watch any in my teen years and i felt like i missed so many amazing shows. Idk man, at the end of the day im just glad that i started to post and that people have been so open and let me into this. Everyone gave me way more than i expected so im happy about that. Im done rambling, sorry for all the text.
