What a refined connoisseur you are.

i like sam smith

Because it sound all the same, and i dont get why they call it "soul"? its just fucking boring cheezy shit with degenerate lyrics, very animalistic if you want it.

thanks

>with degenerate lyrics

There's that word again

just wait for the n one, it's coming out very soon

well yeah, im christian so, my soul its not confortable with all thiss thing that they want to sell me, sorry.

like loving god, keeping faith and not letting yourself down when hard times come by ?

>Because it sound all the same

Objectively false. If soul does, so does rock, jazz, hip hop...

>artists in the same genre have the same sound

Well done for working out what defines a genre

>hip hop
no, because it just use samples, but the rap thing its follow the same rhythm and stuff
>rock
not the same, just look at The Rolling Stones (they even fusion Disco. Each album are different from anyother) and Le Zeppelin(i just know a few songs but they are totally original)
>jazz
i just dislike jazz :S

And, i think you guys are mean since its popular music it tends to have the same formula... But yeah, they totally sound the same, you wouldnt even difference the songs of the same artist.
Other examples? Deathbrutalcore, goregring stuff
what

Imagine making a post like this without feeling completely embarrassed.

> soul
> degenerate

4/10 Retard try again.

>mfw it's not bait and his actual opinion

oh my goid

>Le Zeppelin

There's soul in the Sup Forumscore chart. What more do you want?

do some people genuinely believe this?

If this isn't a troll then I have so much pity for you.

If this is a troll then you are successful because I've been triggered.

so what, im right -_-'

Soul music's key characteristic is the emphasis of the blending of the artistry of singing along with the emotional aspect of music. Hearing a great soul singer at work is a cathartic experience and moves your soul. Kind of just like how the Blues is mostly about the feeling, Soul is too.

>This is a discussion board, right?

lmao

You need to listen to more soul.

reccomend me some soul albums
neo soul works too

this is a animeme board and don't let anyone tell you different

this isn't

A Motown greatest hits is essential. Before scoffing at a greatest hits collection, you have to realize Motown prioritized singles. It was branded as the hitmaker, afterall. So you get a better sense of listening to their singles more than any albums they put out, at least early on. This is the background that lead to Marvin Gaye releasing What's Going On, the most essential soul album.

Some more stuff to check out:
Sam Cooke - Night Beat
James Brown - Live at the Apollo
Nina Simone - Pastel Blues
Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On
The Impressions - This Is My Country
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis
Otis Redding - Otis Blue
Isaac Hayes - Hot and Buttered Soul
Al Green - Let's Stay Together
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
D'Angelo - Black Messiah

That gives you a bit of the essentials of the main movements that happened in soul.

>dude why don't you listen to more soul lmao
>you want to listen to more soul? fuck off
truely the spiceyist mem𛲠

It's completely cheesy vocal pop music designed for people with no idea what subtlety or restraint is, it acts on animalistic impulses. Come one, guys.

Do you want me to follow you around and remind you to breathe in and out too?

Sounds just like indie and emo.

Why is subtlety the be all and end all? There's room for the whole spectrum, and that's where soul comes in. Do you also feel the same way about Van Gogh's paintings or Orwell's writings?

Otis Blue is one of my favorite albums of all time. Otis' voice is so intense.

This is a good chart for a first foray.

Not who you replied to but: Orwell's writing, yeah. I've only read 1984 and it repeated itself too much and in that, got heavyhanded.
