Haven't heard any of 'em
Haven't heard any of 'em
I have that The Unicorns album downloaded but I think I tried to listen and got bored before the first song ended.
I don't understand the praise for 36 chambers but it's okay.
I've only listened to selected ambient works to fall asleep to, and that was when I was 16 or 17. It served it's purpose well then.
ITCOTCK is legit. I remember when I found out about them I asked my mom or grandma if they'd ever heard of them and they hadn't. I owned it on CD at one point. I talk to the wind was kind of a bonerkiller after 21st Century Schizoid Man but otherwise good job, Mr. Fripp.
I really need to listen to an At the Drive-In album. One time when I was at a wrestling camp in another city I asked the guy at the CD shop if they had any death metal and At the Drive-In was what he recommended, which was pretty funny.
I think I listened to Don't Break the Oath and it was pretty cool.
TMR is an 8/10 for me.
The Powers That B is probably my least favorite DG album I've heard.
The Anthropocene Extinction falls short of their last two.
Absolutely Free is 8/10

Worst taste I've ever seen.

The first track on the Unicorns album is possibly the weakest track on the album. It serves more as just an intro to the album and its theme. You should give it a try. It's something a lot of people love it or hate it, so I can't guarantee you'll enjoy, but you might love it so why not.

36 Chambers is one of the rawest and grimey productions to come out. In the context of the time it came out in, West Coast hip-hop was dominating and really took the flame away from New York, where it all originated. 36 Chambers brought attention back to NYC rap and defined what it would be, that noir sound that would come to dominate East Coast hip-hop for the rest of the 90s. Not to mention the colorful cast of characters who come out with a lot of killer verses throughout and laying down benchmark for what a good posse cut should be. It's fine if you don't like it all that much, but I'm just trying to explain why it gets the praise it does.

most of you guys have a mix of stuff I like a lot and stuff I don't like

art of fighting is a cool name for a band what are they like

have you heard bucket full of teeth
or
deepslauter

...

not what they sound like. slowcore dream pop type stuff.

youtube.com/watch?v=rk-xBrWh-EM

ohh yeah totally not what I expected lol
it's nice not really my style but very pretty

ive always been kinda hooked on the idea of naming bands after snk games idk why
my band in high school was fatal fury

tell me about vast

...

Nine inch nails for people who dont like nine inch nails
stellar production, beautiful strings and acoustic guitar, amazing sampling, and the singer doesnt constantly write about how hes dead inside

eh, good but wouldn't hit home with me

nope, nin is real fun though

are you a professional music critic?

>Solo Violin Improvisations
>10/10

Post your 0.5's.

Let's see if we've got anything interesting, besides generic pop.

I plan on listening to it, but I'm not in any kind of hurry.
I was 3 years old when 36 chambers came out, so I don't relate directly to any of that context. Innercity Griots came out a few years before 36 Chambers and I like it more for that kind of big group 90's hip-hop, but even then I think only gave it like a 7 or an 8.
No. Charlie is one of my 4.5s though.
I haven't re-listened to cell-scape since getting RYM , but "If it's the deep sea (I can see you there)" is one of my favorite songs by them.
Bubblegum Octopus' (one of my 5's) favorite band is Melt-Banana. He has a lot of other influences but you might be able to get into it. Here's a track.

I don't rate lower than 2.0 but:

i've got dirty heads - lay me down and a five finger death punch record. eh.

meh

kind of gross

>sprint
mah nigga

red pandas are the only good thing about reality

>Hows nbbmn been?
Honestly, the past few days I've been listening to Robyn, Nothing, Nails, and MBDTF. November sucks anyways

I try to stick trying music that I think that I will like. If I just listened to purely random albums there could be a lot more, but as it is, I don't encounter too much music that is (un)worthy of such a distinction.

Fucking Disgusting Taste.

I'm glad you didn't like my list either. But this is just embarrasing t-b-h. Shame

...

bangerz is great, though?

>jeffery
not hatin but why

which one are you so i can laugh at your shit taste again

I legitimately love every single song on the album. I honestly can't find a single flaw. The beats are great, the mixing is impeccable, and Young Thug is amazing as always.

I doubt it's a 10/10 for most people but definitely for me.

1/2

++Laughing Stock
+Campfire Songs, Pygmalion
-Sweet Trip

++Kid A, TVU&N
+TPAB, Illmatic, ITAOTS, SILY, OKC
~Innversions, MBDTF
-Voodoo

Love the concept and executed pretty well. Actually one of my lesser listened to albums by them, but the album has a great atmosphere to it and I still enjoy it a lot. Doggy is probably a top 5 all time AnCo song, at least top 10.

All of my 0.5s are biased as fuck. I just give that score to tracks/LPs/EPs that fit my criteria of being awful AND me hating them.

Most generic taste ITT

2/2

great band too
you won't like them
actually we don't have any overlap at all really
but that's ok variety is the spice of life

whoa this is pretty bonkers
the kinda cheap sounding instrumentals with the nutso vocals reminds me of like kiiiiiii

Should have started with context, my bad. You can understand by the end of the post though.

>tfw you're getting tired of your favorite albums

your taste is sick and 50 times more fun than say, or

666, Michingan deserve it. Good taste.
Love TG & Schuzle work. Gonna check the rest..
Boring.

well i'm glad you like it
i like seeing people enthusiastic about albums

I thought a lot of the album was pretty unbearable to listen to. I wanted to like it, trust me. I like We Can't Stop, but listening to it with some quality headphones was even underwhelming compared to previous listens to it on car radio speakers.

And my 5.0s for comparison

It's on my immediate backlog to listen to, but I've already been bumping "Kanye West" nonstop the last few days since hearing it

I also can't wait to finger my girlfriend's butt to this song. She went to visit her family for the weekend :(

Go back. You gotta be kidding.

literally no one if retarded to that

good taste but you give out way too many fives IMO

visions of the country is not perfect
flood is not perfect
hounds of love is not perfect
heaven or las vegas is not perfect
blonde on blonde is close but i don't know about perfect
godspeed is not perfect
deathconsciousness is not perfect
red house painters is not perfect
spiderland is not perfect
daydream nation is not perfect
no swans album is even near perfect

the rest is pretty good though

yeah? you know what i think of that?

i don't actually

kk

I'll kill myself.

autism!

I know I give it to many 5's but I can't help it, I can't find a single thing wrong with any of the albums i've given a 5.

Also one of the albums you said wasn't perfect is my personal all-time fav, lol.

What do you think about that?

which one? just curious.

and honestly that's fair, if each one is really 100% flawless to you

...

Not him, and I certainly wouldn't say Jeffrey is a 5/5 but it's definitely his best work with some well crafted songs

Gee wilikers
Hmm
Triphop's shit, stop listening to it
P cool
Trying too hard
Fine but boring
Pretty boring lad

not bad at all
although i don't know how you can give long season a 5/5 when you've heard otokotachi, the live version is infinitely better

>still falling for the fishmen and lrd memes

>visits rym once

>implying 5/5 means it's perfect
it only means that it's 95% or higher

Pacman, my dude, you got good taste in dance singles yet your high rates(not bad tho)are so boring. What's up with that?

what?

learn your fractions my dude
5/5 = 1/1 = 100/100 = 100%

Pretty good overall.
I think godspeed is just ok, has its moments. Julia Holter too, but it's a solid album that's not quite to my taste. I can't stand Why? for some reason.

Buckley and Talking Heads are great but I absolutely cannot stand current 93 or even van morrison for that matter. The Smiths are boring but listenable.

All solid albums but still very mu-core

don't understand what everyone sees in fishmans
>current 93
low is a pretty album but I don't see what's so special about it
Mount Eerie always came off as cheesy to me, but the drumming is cool
Don't get the praise for pale cocoon at all.
77 live is awesome tho.
I need to listen to 0%, so many people love it all of a sudden.

...

4.5/5 = 0.9
if something is 0.85

but that's totally arbitrary
why not do 4.5 meaning between 90-99%?
that way a 4.0 is 80-89%, etc.

First of all can we agree that
>5 / 5 = 1.0
>4.5 / 5 = 0.9
>4 / 5 = 0.8
>3.5 / 5 = 0.7
and so on?

Ok, so if something is a 0.81 where should it go? To whichever one is closest - 0.8=4/5
What if something is 0.79? it should go to 0.8 = 4/5, right?

What if something is 0.92, it rounds to 0.9 = 4.5/5

If something is 0.99, it's closer to 1.0 than it is to 0.9.

Does that make sense? it rounds to whichever value is closest. That's not arbitrary, that's how rounding works.

who said we were rounding? you can use a 100 point scale if you want to. personally i use rym's 5 star system. i don't rate an album 97%... how the fuck do you give an album 2% over some other album? like how do you make that critical judgement? whereas a 4/5 or a 2.5/5 is just 90% and 50%. like that's what i'm rating the album. there doesn't need to be 55%.

+ Oneotrix Point Never, Boris, Unwound
~This Heat, Niicolas Jaar
-Coil

+Aphex Twin, Low, The Micophones, Fishmans
-All the jap shit
~Current 93, Mount Eerie

+Joy Division, MBV, Swans, Talk Talk
~Can
-Einstrurzende Neubatuten

+Tim Buckley, Talking Heads, The Smiths, Van Morrison,
-Current 93, TMR

Look, I'm just saying that 5/5 doesn't mean perfect. It just means that it's closer to perfect than it is to 4.5

>+ Oneotrix Point Never,
>~Can
>-Einstrurzende Neubatuten

kill yourself faggot

what if all my ratings are 5s

toast em and get hated
