being a Brit, the earliest memory I have of Mr Wilder is the occasional showing of Willy Wonka around xmas time - either that or Chitty Chitty bang Bang or Mary Poppins.
Either way, he was a part of my childhood, and it wan't until by brother got his first B&WTV in our bedroom that I discovered other movies of his, like Stir Crazy or Blazing Saddles ("Got more beans there Sherrif?")
Stir Crazy & See no Evil, hear no Evil was also another reason I became aware of Richard Pryor outside of Superman 3.
Mr Wilder enriched by formative years, I am so happy he's still with us, and still active, albeit behind the scenes these days.
