I know the memes are you guys are too close and everyone is touchy touchy. But my experience with Spaniards hasn't really been like that and I know people from the North, Centre and South.

Sure some of them have no concept of personal space, but a few of my closer Spanish friends are quite reserved and nothing like the memes.

Sure, it can be seen from the whole dos besos shit, even doing it to people you don't really like can be seen as strange to people in North Europe. But the similarities between us in this regard is closer than you think.
