Society isn't humanity in it's natural state. It's a construct of rules based on an idea of "good". Breastfeeding in public is comparable to any other deviation of social norm (farting, not greeting another etc).
It's impolite as fuck. You're free to do it and I'm free to voice my disgust towards it.
