Whats the most worthwhile trade to pursue...

Whats the most worthwhile trade to pursue? I literally have the requirements to make it into any trade but i have no idea which ones are the least pain in the ass or pays the best. A little background info is that i live in Alberta Canada so oil and general structural development is a huge thing here. help me out?

Prostitution

That precious black resource pouring out the middle east... slaves

Don't pursue oil in AB right now, the way to go is sustainable energy tbh

Welding. Especially in oil areas

its down right now but when i finish school in a couple years it should be coming out of the shitter around the same time.

Or we wil move mostly into renewable energy in 5 years

Fellow canadafag here.

Currently getting paid 27.50/hr to ride ferries around the sunshine coast and deliver narcotics in an unmarked discreet van. However I don't think this is a permanent gig and I can already see it coming to an end as the contract is up for bidding

I'm getting my air brake licence in September, there's a ton of money in logging in BC, and it's surprisingly sustainable as wood is rising in price since most places don't allow much logging anymore. This is forcing companies to go to more rural and hard to reach places.

Tugboat drivers, heavy equipment operates etc etc

The biggest money is in heavy duty mechanics, automated systems specialists and anyone who works on machinery or assembly/materiel processing lines

1. Well you could become a contractor and remodel homes or work for a company for like 2-3 years before you go on your own. Big bucks here at least in my area. 2.Become a tile guy they make lots to but its boring work you could make bout 500-2500 in a weeks times which adds up. 3. painter. All general labor shit but becoming a contractor and hiring people to do shit for you would be the best bang for your buck because you wouldn't actually have to do shit besides order people around

Here's a protip: find a job that won't be automated in 20 years.

Find a job that works on the robots that automate everyone's job

Dedicate your life to something that makes the world a better place or you will never do anything worthwhile

>thinking the Saudis are closing the tap any time soon.
Petro in NA is fucked, and OPEC likes it that way. I worked in the industry and got the fuck out before implosion, tech is way better. Green is the future.

Oil hopefully will be a thing of the past.
And any sell out that wants to fuck around with albertas dirty ass oil needs to an hero.

Electrician.

Sparkies are lazy and don't have any real difficult work at all. When you want to move into really sick bank territory, get with your IBEW about becoming a lineman.

how long do you think itll last?

Steamfitters make good money, effectively you weld pipe, on pipelines, oil rigs, commercial mechanical systems, shipyards. I know plenty of them that are pulling low 6 figures, which is a lot of money for a tradesman.

Anyone got the one where the blonde is pointing to the booty?

Instrumentation I make 42/hr+benefits+20% bonus

reverse image search and theres a full set including nudes

This.

Any kind of coding/development if you're already decent at it. Plenty of places to learn online for free and you can work from home. Mind you I'm in California, but I get paid $20/hr doing web development, and that's with me just starting out.

Even with those "site generator" websites, people who know how to code will always be in demand.

Ontarian here. I'm a licensed crane operator. I suggest getting into the trade. Pays well and you learn a fuck ton of skills. It is hard work so if you're a beta pussy then be an electrician

Cheers mate

We're moving into an era where anything that CAN be done by a computer WILL be done by a computer.

If you don't want to be a programmer or a data entry clerk, pick something hands-on like nursing or carpentry.

Become an electrician, and get certified for I&C and automation after you get certified as a journeyman. It's clean work, you'll be working on the systems that make (or process or package) all the shit we use, your job will be transportable into any area where any industry exists, and you'll be making at least $75k a year a few years after your certification.

This ^

I'm an internal inspector for a residential construction company and our superintendents make buku bank.

Enjoy your 3 years of employment.

My cousin is an underwater welder. Makes well over 100k per year from just that. Supplements it with welding and electrical jobs and being a dive master in between contracts.

If you have multiple skill sets, you're better off.

Maintenance of any sort. Property, facility, machinery, millwright, etc.

Go learn a worthwhile skill and become a tradesman for a maintenance crew.

Maintenance will never be automated, and will never go away. Somebody has to keep things running.

This. I worked for an old sparky in California doing a lot of jobs for celebs and he made almost a quarter million in one year no bullshit, I made about $35,000 as an apprentice

I'm a welder.

Non-welders (i.e. you) need to shut the fuck up about underwater welders.

Normal people don't want to die at age 30, after spending a vast amount of time surrounded by ex-con dudes on an oil rig.

Welding is a shit tier career.

no real difficult work? bullshit dude try doing commercial work with big ass conduits and cables and shit and then tell me its not difficult

Buku = (lots) = beaucoup

Yeah, I knew someone that trained and certified as an underwater welder, then developed a condition where he had trapped nitrogen in his body, could not pass the medical and had to give it up

And what exactly did I say other than my cousin is one and makes a lot of money?

Go ahead, I'll wait.

Nothing? Good.

merci

wtf are you even talking about?

Afraid of the water lol?

Thats called "The bends".

Damn dude it sounds like you need to find another job

It's honesty like this that keeps me coming back to this shithole.

I have always been partial to Blacksmithing and metal work, but i don't think it pays too well.

I thought it was all the trap threads

Underwater welder. Name your price. Dangerous as fuck.

I just browse those while waiting for smartass comments like yours.

What does Sup Forums think of blacksmithing? I've been made to understand that it's still a viable gig if youre in the right place, making/fixing tools and shit

Trucking is a pretty good paying profession. Tons of jobs. If you can handle the lifestyle and bullshit you might like it. I've been in this industry about 5 years and make just under 65k USD after taxes. Didn't make nearly that my first year though. I run produce/reefer coast to coast for a team op.10 days off per month.

Sweet!

Yeah, DCS. Unless it's some rare thing, I don't see how nitrogen will stay trapped unless he refuses to go into a decompression chamber.

Maybe it's shit because you're shit at it. Git gud m8 and you'll get more out of it.

Sauce?

Cool but its a niche market doing custom jobs and what not so you would probably need another source of income other than that.

Reverse image search, cock sucker

Not the same poster - but I work for a tech company supporting Shell Oil and the Carmon Creek site by Peace river has been abandoned after putting $3bn into bringing it back online. Reverting back to greenfield. It's done for the foreseeable future. However, no one wants renewable energy either. It does more damage to the environment and people are starting to figure it out.

Wind energy? Apart from killing eagles it seems like good clean way of producing power. Same with nuclear

>more out of it
That's like saying you just need to get better at sucking dick if you wanna survive prison. Doesn't matter how good you are, you're still sucking dick in prison.

Im a heavy equipment operator in the states. Pay is descent and you need 0 school. Can find a job anywhere in the world. Just find a construction company or quarry or mine or something and dont be affraid to jump in anything. Day 1 they put me in a 35 ton haul truck. Scary af. Now i can drive 100 ton and bitch about it being too small. 100 tonner btw is like walking upstairs and driving your house. Its not easy work but most of the time u can find a heater in the cold. So thats a plus.

So maybe take some of your dick sucking time and devote it to welding.

>Pay is descent
Sorry to hear

kek

kek

Im a welder in Ontario making 23/hr 20 years old. school for 1.5 years and got thejob a few months after. Its not bad for your health unlike people say as long as you use your PPE properly and in Alberta you could be starting at $25- $30 an hour

I got a buddy with a tile business. If u do new home construction mostly u can jam out with a radio and hang out with buddies. Its pretty sweet but i cant drag my crippled foot around much or id do it.

>trade
you mean a fucking job?
or are you talking carpentry

Exactly what he said. Maybe you should take some diving lessons or go to pipeline welding because you can easily make money doing those.

Just because you're a basic bitch welder doesn't mean everyone else is into making chump change.

You at least need a CDL unless you work for some fly by night Philippinos that never pay you.

Air-conditioning . It's getting hot in here.

I know a lot of pipeliners. Welding school osnt that bad and welding is a good honest living. Just dont be a party animal and consider finding a less physical career before you are 30 or 40 and youll enjoy it. Work shit tons of hours and then can litterally take 2 months off if u want and do fuckall...

Too fucking hot. I built a foundry and its useless. Fucking burn my beard and airm hair and make fire tornadoes... fuck that shit.

...

pussy

What the fuck for? Its all on site driving at the quarries. Give. The first place i worked sucked zues himselfs dick. I got a sweet gig loading rock trucks by myself all day now.

This, basically most jobs that are blue collar, semi dangerous, and require a skill, pay very well. But they are hard on you, work as much as you can in these type jobs while you are able. An injury, even slipping in the shower and cracking your knee, can fuck you big time. If you are looking to go to college, and want something that pays very well. Dentistry. Dentists need much less education than doctors can basically make their own schedule, dont pay so much for malpractice insurance, and can demand money upfront.

Lol, why do you say that? My steel pipe crucible when full lights the grass on fire 6 inches under it. Ive shrunk my pants tight to my legs. Without proper gear there is no way to be a man about it. You come pour this shit and ill laugh at u. Faggot...

If you have the requirements as you say you do, be a welder for an aerospace company. i.e Boeing, Grumman, Lockheed. Easy as far as manual strain, climate controlled work environment and pays extremely well.

He does that for free

Well then wear the proper gear and stop bitching. Why the fuck would you build that and expect not to get burned up? Its hot metal dumbass!

If you want an easy trade, do communication technician. You install all the data cable (cat6, fibre) and run patch cords from the rack to the switches in comms rooms 90% of the time. You do a ton of walking around testing and terminating cable which is a breeze. There's the occasional pain in the ass pull, but I've found all the crews I've worked with are pretty cool and help the time pass. I work in Calgary btw.

Going to tell you once
DO NOT BECOME A CHEF

Hours shit, pay crap, stressful as all fuck, most under appreciated member of staff

Don't buy into tv bullshit, been doing this for 17 years and everything you see on tv they have an hour to make perfect, you have 30 mins to have 40 of them all plated

...

That depends. Which is most important to you, quick money or upward mobility?

I see good trade options as a spectrum between both those things. On the quick money end your best bet is welding. 2 years of school, and if you don't suck and get your certs, you're making $50,000 right off the bat, no problem--but you can't go much higher than that. Next are most mechanical trades--not as much money to start, but if you learn electronics, transmissions, or some other complex niche the money's very good a few years down the road. After that, look at computers. Very low starting pay and a lot of competition in most IT-related fields, but a whole shit ton of upward mobility if you learn to be a sysadmin or lead a development team or something, and you do good work and get promoted. Last are the sciences and medicine. A shit ton of school, a shit ton of competition, and hundreds of thousands in debt, but once you're done you have the potential to be making six figures easily.

Literally don't even consider any career other than the ones I've listed, unless you have a personal passion for it.

Oh, and sell weed on the side. I'm not kidding. Don't sell anything else though.

Country club? Worked at the one in Denver and the members were complete pricks about every little detail

Selling weed isn't profitable unless you have a cheap and reliable source, trust me

I know it's true, but it kinda sucks because I find cooking very fun as a hobby. I like to work quickly, and you can be getting a useful skill and having rewarding results at the same time. I have been cooking a lot lately, I keep getting tempted to go be a line cook somewhere because I'm having so much fun but I know it's a bad idea

It's just a little moneymaker on the side. And I meant growing it

>Country club
>members were complete pricks
Did you not know what a country club was?

>very fun as a hobby
I don't know how young you are, but I am old. I have learned that many times turning a hobby into a career will destroy your passion in that hobby.

Hotels and restaurants, some pub stuff where needed some time to relax from 80+ hour weeks

Yeah but best chefs are always complete tools, some of food shit gets insane, I've had my head ripped off for ahit like a literal speck of pepper too much and even if you are perfect everytime and do a good job no one cares, wait staff can be really faggots, worked in few where staff would come in tell us the customer like food and is giving a tip for it and rub in how our hard work makes them look good

Oh I know what you mean, and that's the way to do it but would that fly where he's living?

Speaks the truth, happened to me, no escape now but it's made me a very hating bitter person

Just out of college. And I'm doing it and it's fun so far--you just have to have a good boss. I'm doing it with computers, I'm in a small business IT setting and I'm still having fun because my situation allows--even encourages--me to play around and experiment with new technology and look for new ways of doing things, which is what I like about computers to begin with.

It was a job that's all, kinda expected it, just commenting

Shit man it can't be worth it but to just change careers isn't all that easy either

Go into sprinklers, its all sorts of fun.

It's not but got a apprenticeship when in 20s because liked cooking and couldn't even get a interview anywhere for years, now I'm just too old for anything else

Grow the ganja mon!

Isn't there an album for these bitches?

Alberta, Canada? Probably. Aren't they pretty lenient up there?

You can get away with having a few plants anywhere if you keep your head down and don't do anything fucking stupid. Just don't have faggot opiate junkies at your house all the time an no one will care what the fuck you do

...

Well crap! I hear you but I don't think you're too old until youre dead.
