Iron Maiden. Live after Death. It fills both of your categories.

You will thank me later.
I know what I'm about.
beethoven, piano sonata 'pathetique'

You have good taste. What subgenres of metal do you like in particular?
Sand Partina by Oneohtrix Point Never (spacey)
Funeral Canticle from Tree of Life (Gregorian)
Through The Looking Glass - Midori Takada (Japanese instrumental folk)
Anything by Animals as Leaders
Go with Death Grips. It always works.
Chopin's Nocturnes
Bach's Cello Suites
Wagner (any)
Shouldn't this be on Sup Forums?
Animals as Leaders
Explosions in the Sky
Intervals
Protest the Hero
Blotted Science
Brahms
Liszt
Mahler
Rachmaninoff
Ticheli
Eric Whitacre
>subgenres
Come on man, don't be that metal guy. It's all fucking metal. It's all family.

Hair =/= Drone
Yeah because this
youtube.com
is the same as
youtube.com
Both are metal, but they are completely different subgenres. You might like power metal with its operatic vocals and harmonised guitar leads but hate the deep growls of extreme metal with its breakdowns and chugs for instance.
If you are referring to metal elitism, I don't care what subgenres you listen to. Subgenres are just a useful way to classify different songs. Metal is such a diverse genre so there is a lot of variety!
Maybe, but you have to admit the subgenres are inly being used for attempts at being special snowflakes. I get the use of it if you want to find similar bands to one you like, but music services already do that.

Only redpilled option is no music at all.
Yeah makes sense. Its just easier to recommend something if I know what they are looking for
>redpilled
>Swede
Fuck off, dirty sandnigger
Well, kinda fag
Fair point. OP should be a little more specific.
no music

LISTEN TO THIS MAN
>special snowflakes
I honestly don't think so. There is a massive difference in style, structure, content, influence, and overall feel between something like Earth and something like Twin Obscenity.
All music genres do this. It is in our nature to classify and organize.
Baroque and Renaissance era classical music are incredibly different.
Its not about ranking (although my subjective tastes are objectively superior). Its about classification. Metal isn't descriptive. Progressive Death Metal is.
For metal, any album by Gojira.

So far, so good...
Nice.

I'll give you some groups instead...
Old stuff like Anthrax is good for classic metal, but I find the lyrics lackluster.
I just heard some Gloryhammer the other day, I liked it.
Demon Hunter is a personal favorite. Christian death metal with great lyrics, heavy sound.
Wuthering Heights is new to me but have a good sound.
Virgin Black is an interesting orchestral/doom metal group.
This guy gets it. Well played my 'murican friend
Ghost
You should listen ONLY vidya music and covers.

Bach all day, brother
Messiaen
I'm a christian metalhead too. Demon Hunter are a great band! This is one of my favourite christian metal groups, War of Ages. Really fantastic lyrics and really well constructed songs:
Thomas Tallis 'If Ye Love Me'
Anything from Underoath's 'They're Only Chasing Safety'
Prussian March - Regimentsgruss
Dance Gavin Dance - Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise (12 year old post-hardcore, melodic)
Erik Satie (existentialist impressionism pianist)
Jefferson Airplane - We Should Be Together and White Rabbit
Hmm lets ask faggot leftist Sup Forums for some recommendations. I'm sure that was OPs intention. Gay.
Patrician? you aint even a slave you honkey
Sup Forums approved

ikr?
lol I'm done. Got some great recommendations.
Fucking Sup Forums mods.
Based user. OP definitely needs Quator Pour la Fin du Temps in his life.
Thanks all for the recs!

varese ameriques

Rather the opposite. Someone posted a Sup Forums thread on Sup Forums. The mods moved it.
Have you really never tried studying to good rap instrumentals? They are usually pretty hypnotic and background quality without being too obnoxious like some metal can be. Of course you need the right sounds.

Yngvie Malmsteen and Candlemass, OP. Yngvie is neoclassical metal and Candlemass has a very operatic feel to it. One of my favorite bands desu
Most of Sup Forums is faggy leftists but if you put metal or classical anywhere in the OP they scatter like rats.
t. Crossposter from 8ch Sup Forums since Sup Forums pol is a cesspool of niggardy
>Crossposter from 8ch Sup Forums since Sup Forums pol is a cesspool of niggardy
whats wrong with Sup Forums lad
Georg Philipp Telemann, concerto for two chalumeaux (whatever that instrument is) in F major
Johann Friedrich Fasch, concerto for chalumeaux in B minor
question for Sup Forums: does two hastags in teh beginning of the partiture mean that all semitones have to be played one semitone/tab higher?
Just go lurk 8ch Sup Forums for a while, you shall see. Quality of the board over all is so much better. Keyword=lurk. It is similar to Sup Forums Sup Forums but there are some nuances that you'll need to pick up on.
Pretty much anything Basinski has made, it isn't metal or classical though
Watermusic II is my favorite for studying
youtube.com
>8ch pol
>ever being good outside of those first few months back in 2014
lmao
8ch in general has been complete shit for years, once /intl/ died there was no reason at all to keep going to that shitheap of an imageboard
thanks friend
>Anthrax
>I find the lyrics lackluster
you haven't read Destruction lyrics...
Better than h a l f c h a n Sup Forums that is for certain, even though it has been in decline as of late. Kek if you post 8 c h a n or h a l f c h a n it is considered spam
Of course, welcome aboard brother. Remember to lurk! ;)
>the shit I took this morning was better than the shit I took last night
They're still both shit
Then where do you post, friendo?
metal is for retards and classical music is 'faggy'
hello Sup Forums
What do you listen to, niggerfaggot? Radiohead and Death Grips?
/gsg/
it's just as shit but the memes are better
Unfortunately a dead board, just like how pretty much everything outside of Sup Forums and Sup Forums are
Both solid groups, but I prefer Radiohead for obvious reasons. Death Grips are for cathartic energy and the only other band to bring that to a similar degree is Swans. Moon Shaped Pool is some Grade A stuff now that I've had time to digest it too. Most of the time I listen to post-punk, baroque pop, electronic music, krautrock, jazz and classical music, with a lot of exceptions since I enjoy a lot of different styles. Was this question supposed to be interesting?
>I prefer Radiohead
I piss on radiohead and sonic youth
If this is not bait: It was rhetorical, you fuck. I was merely pointing out how you are unsurprisingly a Sup Forumsdrone exactly like the rest of Sup Forums, falling for the groupthink.
How can a human being have such a boring taste in music
But art music is well loved on Sup Forums
alrighty kid
No, people just don't have taste as diverse as mine anywhere. You call me a drone for appreciating two popular groups here because you're a contrarian.
What would be interesting taste in music?
Welcome to Sup Forums enjoy your stay
>Sup Forums likes it so that means it's good
Do you require other people's validation about every other aspect of your life?
No, those posts were implying Sup Forums art music isn't liked on Sup Forums, so i corrected them as anyone who thinks so is clearly ignorant of the facts.
I've been here long enough to not gain a whole lot from staying. Its all stuff I've heard before, and 3/4 threads are on topics that are fucking stupid and/or shitposting. Other boards I use are slow though.
>people just don't have taste as diverse as mine anywhere
>using buzzwords like contrarian
See? You think you have branched out and are now the authority on music, when you blatantly ignore two absolutely massive genres, metal and classical. At least pretend to be a bit more humble, posters like you are the reason this board has become a massive circlejerk of pretentious 'intellectuals'.
Obviously it is widely liked by many here, what I am saying is popularity=/=good.
So now you don't like classical? Work on your reading comprehension
Did not say that once, and while classical music is considered art music, classical music is actually its own genre with a distinct sound, unlike the rest of art music which is a very broad genre. With 'art music' you don't even know what instruments they are going to use. Have a little more intuition, lad.
>when you blatantly ignore two absolutely massive genres, metal and classical
I literally listen to classical music daily. All I said was that it was 'faggy', because I was mocking another user. I also listen to metal, but it's about as often as I listen to hip hop.
>>using buzzwords like contrarian
The user I replied to used the antithesis of contrarian to describe me as taking part in group think, which is baseless, so I called them a contrarian.
>Try to be more humble
Not in this situation.
More of just a period in the tradition of art music, isn't it? And as i said before, it's liked on Sup Forums so whatever you think of this (admittedly mostly shit) board it's clearly an exaggerated caricature.
This entire post sums up my point about pretentious intellectuals, which is what you seem to be. I do not mean to be harsh user, I just want to see a change on this board.
Either way you understand my point, user. Perhaps I am exaggerating a tad, but it has truth in it.
Technically it's Romantic, but whatever
youtube.com
Interesting taste in music will be having your own unique select choices of music that you found out instead of having other bunch of people to circle jerk and copy their choice of music from
