I honestly think Swans are Dead is better than any of their studio albums

Excuse me?

Most of the songs on this album were leagues better live desu

nothing wrong with this

this. Though IMO, the live version of Even Flow by Pearl Jam is slightly better than the studio only because of MUH ATMOSPHERE. Though yeah, most live mixes are just shit

>Implying Priest...Live! wasn't Judas Priest at their best.

>crowd starts cheering in the middle of the song

this is not how he really looks like.

I love live versions, but this shit ruins the song. Live at Pompeii GOAT Live

>Live at Pompeii

this

it's not bad quality but the recording makes it feel more lo fi and ambient

>tfw one of your best songs doesn't have a studio recording

>Symphony X
>Thousand Foot Krutch

What video is this from?

Look up Ben Affleck Sam Harris on YouTube.

>mfw there's a better version in the new boxset

what song though?

mfw the boxset is $700

There's literally no reason why this is a bad thing

Sometimes live versions are just better. Especially with bands that are more about jamming.

In The Basement TKOL is fucking amazing while the studio album is dogshit

TKOL is their best album though

Ummmmmmm MTV Unplugged.....

This album definitely has the definitive versions of much of Boingo's catalog.

Pompeii may very well be Floyd's best album.

I quite like TKOL, but I'm not gonna act like the basement version isn't a hell of a lot better.

fuck me, forgot the image.

you're a massive pleb faggot

The guitar solo is really good, but I think I prefer the vocal improv part on the studio version.

Daft Punk.

There are several bands I can think of who have better live versions of their songs than the studio recordings.
-Any Era Vulgaris song by Queens of the Stone Age is better live. The live versions have more energy and the studio versions are over produced. In particular, I love the live version of Misfit Love.
-Any Noctourniquet song by The Mars Volta. Same as above, better energy and the studio versions are over produced. In addition to that, the live versions break out into jams and just add to the atmosphere. Listen to The Malkin Jewel live as a perfect example.
-Deadbolt by Thrice. I'm not super keen on the song, but the ending is infinitely superior live. Instead of the usual piano outro, they keep it heavy with some intense vocals and it's a much better ending. Similarly, Deadalus is better live because Dustin adds extra vocals to the end that just make the song more emotional. Now that I think about it, all of the songs from the new album are better live because you can hear Teppei's guitar playing a lot better. His leads are mixed way too low on the album.
-Some of David Bowie's 90's material is much better live because it's being played with real dreams instead of a shitty drum machine. (Hallo Space Boy, for example).

Those are just off the top of my head too. There are surely many more.

It really depends on the material.
Some songs' live recordings actually trump their studio counterparts.
Sometimes a live performance is improvised instrumentally and/or vocally, and it sounds more satisfying to somebody's ears.
Sometimes it's not even an improvisation, only the sound quality that'll make it sound satisfactorily different from its original version.
Most artists I've ever heard are unable to emulate their own studio sound while live, much less surpass it, so it's very rare that I prefer a live version over the album one, and even then it's usually only a song, or a few.

bill maher is the most smug asshole in the world. skin crawlingly smug.

The live version of All Lined Up is so much better than the SFTB studio version.

Come on Dylan is GREAT live (Not now but you know what I mean).

How do the gooks do it? This sounds even better then 90% of stuff recorded in studio

>phenomenal live performance
>piss poor recording quality

Fuck you live at olympia

It's like you've never heard KISS live?
Robbie Williams is actually listenable live!

Just to clarify:
I'm not saying Robbie Williams is in KISS, kek

I refuse to believe a studio version of Fear of the Dark exists

Donington 92 or bust

Travis Scott live videos are lit af

What about Portishead?

The Name of This Band is Talking Heads

really the most impressive thing about hitchens was how well he could paper over bad arguments with forcefulness and rhetoric
the guy's seriously one of the most effective and articulate debaters i've ever seen

what is jazz

Peel Sessions version of Love Will Tear Us Apart is the best JD version of the song.

(sboiler)/ and Swans' covers are even better [broiler]

Careful With That Axe, Eugene tho

This

I also like King Crimson's live 1973 version of "Exiles," since the singer doesn't go flat.

Not something your typical meme lord would enjoy.

You're not old enough to be here

Domination by Pantera, the one they did in Russia. Was dope.

But the superior version of Life During Wartime is the live version.
>you will never have moves like David Byrne

An actual square

Painting With by Animal Collective is completely transformed live

The tinny drum machines are replaced with a Zach Hill lookalike and the songs are given room to breathe and are more experimental, Golden Gal even had a Danse Manatee-esque noise jam before the bridge on the last leg of the tour
