Easy listening is really unenaging. Some of the weirder Space Age Pop and Exotica can be interesting, but in general, it's not worth listening to unless you're a 50s/60s upper class guy who owns a lounge.
How do you get hair like young Stalin, by the way?
are tiki bars still cool?
would it be lame to open one today? also would it be offensive to open one on an island in polynesia?
Skip Afrobeat and just listen to Yoruba traditional music
only exotica is mediocre from that list desu
that funny because thats the one im most into right now
>Any of these genres, especially rocksteady, reggae, and dub
>Mediocre
Enlighten me as to your taste, then. I don't know why I'm surprised by this opinion after browsing Sup Forums for awhile.
>dream pop
>shoegaze
>noise
>drone
>post-rock (sometimes)
>vaporwave/future funk
>whatever genre all those nu-male pitchfork bands fall under
>shoegaze (it had potential but every post mbv band just butchered it and turned it into a copy paste genre with no new innovations)
>neo-classical (hacks like reich,cage)
>classical
>baroque (its just counterpoint wankary what a bore)
>black metal (lets distort everything to the point that we don't need to be skilled at anything)
>rock
>hip hop
>post rock
>punk (wow its rock and roll 2.0 but the musicians can't even play this time)
>ambient
>synth pop
>jazz
yeah your taste is probably too advanced
>"my taste is too advanced"
>doesn't like Jazz, afrobeat, salsa or cumbia
aight
I know EXACTLY what you're trying to do here, OP you motherfucker.
"Don't have to be skilled"
As someone who listens to all kinds of technical music, you're a fucking idiot. Study more, you fucking coward.
It's like this post was designed to trigger me specifically.
>soul
It's more a singles genre than an album genre, but you can't ignore the genius singles of the late 50s early 60s. If you can't appreciate Motown or Gil Scott Heron's first album, I'm sorry, you don't have a soul. Same goes for RnB
>Jazz
Is this like an autistic thing? Does Duke Ellington do nothing for you?

>Rocksteady
>Dub
>Reggae
Yeah, those are kinda mediocre, and I don't think Dub tries to be anything but retreading the same sound effects and production styles. Influenced a lot of good music, tho.
>synth pop
Take On Me? Art of Noise's self title album?
>punk
In it's purest form, Punk can be pretty boring, but a few artists (Husker Du, Minutemen, Crass, Cramps) have taken it in some interesting, mind bending directions.

>shoegaze
You're pretty much correct on that.
>hip hop
I'm sorry you hate fun.

And you all fell for it.

I get it, it's because they have not white people
II agree with all that except salsa and ethiopian pop
