The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

is Pantherjump to Agadir the greatest band of all time? >set out to cover prussian marches in the style of black metal >four guys, three of whom never played an instrument before >the one who could play drums was not allowed to play drums >every gig they would play with different instruments they haven't previously had in hand >played exactly two gigs >released exactly one demo which consists of a 1 minute field recording of a demonstration soundcloud.com/pantherjump-to-agadir/pjta-demo1
Easton Torres
I liked it so much I just listened to their entire discography
Really, really solid. Very few outwardly impressive moments, but it's impressive from a technical and compositional standpoint while still managing to be super accessible, smooth, and all-around cool. The title track is by far the best track, Duke Pearson makes a 15-minute long track filled with repeated motifs feel like 3 minutes, and all the solos are exquisite, Green obviously being the standout. Green is a much better guitarist than he his a composer, so "Jean de Fleur" seems a bit stale in comparison to Pearson's works, with the great "Nomad" closing out the album. It's bookended by two absolutely stellar pieces of jazz, but the middle two tracks are a bit too standard. Still a very good album.
3.0+
Talulah Gosh - Backwash (1996) >twee pop, C86, indie pop
They're not the best twee band in the world, but they've got enough cute, sappy melodies to be lovable as hell. The compilation format doesn't really suit them, however, because their sound is so samey and repetitive, an hour of it is too much. Melodies change, sure, but the basic sound is just hashed out over and over again, making this inherently lovable sound and band seem irritating by the record's end. Some constants are welcome, mainly the shockingly experimental guitar work and the hyperactive, energetic drums, but I'd love to see these aspects taken in a different, more bold direction.

I'm starting to think you anonpost and bully people to balance out your trip persona.
The first time I did them I listened to Psychic TV with headphones and walked alone through a forest at night. 10/10 would not do again. This album will be perfection, though. Hopefully my buddies are down for the music choice.
Hunter Peterson
Also @co definitely casually asked me for acid when we met :^) I told him I was gonna post this.

I wish I posted at all anymore, let alone anonpost. It's only during awkward family gatherings that I even have time to post on the side (mostly because I can't speak spanish)

>good morning my friend, i hope russia isn't wearing you down too much Nah, I'm back in Riga this week and hopefully not going back to Russia for the next 1000 years. It's wonderful being here, although the room still somewhat bothers me. >i played jandek at the bar the other day, while a couple was sitting in the corner breaking up. wonderful atmosphere in the room This is what patrician feels like.

clipping. - Splendor & Misery (2016) >industrial hip hop
Their best effort so far, mainly because it doesn't have any flat-out irritating moments like CLPPNG has, but it's still a very hit-and-miss album. They experiment with so many different styles, industrial, noise, and even spirituals are thrown into the mix, but they constantly prove themselves to only be good at hip hop. They've certainly got a lot of good ideas, I like the a cappella spiritual tracks and the industrial beats are appropriately dark and evil-sounding, but every experimental flourish seems near-amateur and their over-reliance on drone gets old quickly. They're never better than when they go for a more standard (well, relatively speaking) hip hop sound, because Diggs is a /great/ rapper (and it's surreal seeing him get so famous), and I love his flow. These tracks are few and far between, leaving the album to be an uneven, overambitious mess anchored by only a few good tracks.

Morning Dogman! What Jandek album is most like European Jewel? I liked that song and I'm intrigued enough about him to explore further. Got a good laugh from that pic btw.
