Dvořák edition
What is his essential stuff? I've already listened to 9th and 1st symphonies from pic related and loved them.

Aww man I was waiting for the next /classical/ to ask what the essential/most relevant works of Schönberg were

do a bit of research yourself retard

youtube.com/watch?v=19VxHGpzJBo

>hello and welcome to /classical/, where instead of discussing classical music we tell you to go do a bit of research yourself, retard
/classical/ is one of the better generals on this board. Let's try to keep it that way.

Depends on if you prefer sucking cock or having your ass pounded.

Essential Lassus recordings?

Why don't you listen to all his symphonies

spoonfeeding clueless idiots is not music discussion

>/classical/ is one of the better generals on this board
lmao

every thread is mozart(shit)posting and complaining about >m-muh modernism X(

Ah excellent, I see you are another fellow who is too enlightened by his own superior taste to entertain the whims of the clueless sheeple. I tip my hat to you, good sir.

nice meme

Why exactly did the kikes decide to irreparably ruin music?

How come they hate beauty?

>muh beauty
go jerk off to landscape paintings philistine

>Why don't you listen to all his symphonies
Because I'm sure he did worthwhile music beside symphonies, and would like to hear it as well. Listening to every one of his symphonies before anything else sounds a bit boring, don't you think?

>on this board

but mozart really is the greatest and most modernism does suck

Why is baroque music so boring? Arr sound same. Muh counterpoint. Muh cadences. Are there any actual creative pieces or something that sounds unique?

...

>deluding yourself into thinking this academic wank is in any way substantial and not just pure ephemera
I wallowed in the quagmire of post-tonal music for so many years, it made me depressed and it made me hate music, I even quit playing and composing.

Thank Christ I was saved and can now open my ears and heart again.

Proč jsou dopíči jediní relevatní čeští hudebníci skladatelé vážné hudby?

Listen to their string quartets.

Ok, post something you think could stand up to Mozart and we will try our best to shitpost about them instead.

onte of the greatest recordings of all time, imo
flac available @ thepiratebay

Post your favorite Stravinsky piece. Now.

I don't really like Stravinsky that much desu

what are your favourite Debussy recordings?

I've only heard his memeshows, Firebird and Rite of Spring. wasn't a particular fan of either

Mozart Oboe Concerto > Your favorite piece of music

But my favorite music is KV. 453.

Everyone should put on a trip so we can start the old banter wars

youtube.com/watch?v=LBHhN9vniDc
I like this, fight me.

k

u r gai

My favorite is Michelangeli's recording of Children's Corner.
Others I listen to frequently are Hamelin's 2nd book of preludes and a collection of orchestral recordings by Jean Martinon.

What do you guys think of Weber?

>/classical/ is one of the better generals on this board
[citation needed]

>thinking about Weber at any time for any reason

Why would anyone do such a thing?

once you get what he is doing he becomes as catchy as any 20-21th century pop song

i like the konzertstück

Uneducated listener here.
Why is tonal academic music dead?
Isn't jazz a good enough example to prove that there is still something to be accomplished in the tonal system out there?

Why have we discarded it?

>Why is tonal academic music dead?
Because it's shit and boring. It's been a thing for centuries, let that shit die.

It's not dead because it doesn't exist. It's dead because minimalism exists.

String quartet no. 14

>tonal academic music
you mean ersatz neo-romantic music? because that's all it is.

Un-educated peasant here.
Why hath chorale mono-phonic music ceased to be?
Is not newe plain-chant a goode enough example to prove that there still yieldes something to be accomplished in the mono-phonic system abound?

Why hath the world discarded it?

what's the best database for classical recordings? rym is pretty shitty i.e. poorly organized.

my ass

>Because it's shit and boring. It's been a thing for centuries, let that shit die.

We've seen it for centuries applied to like 5 styles. Nowadays the only tonal music that is considered good is baroque, classical, romantic and jazz. Just 4 styles, wich follow strict conventions.

Why aren't they just creating new comples ut still accesible styles? Why are they leaving that job to uneducated guitarists?

sent ;)

newer atonal music is accessible so your point is moot

Bach
youtube.com/watch?v=t4uZvhjQNi0

Is Zelenka the GOAT baroque composer?

>strict conventions
>baroque, classical, romantic. jazz
>any of these as homogeneous "styles"

youtube.com/watch?v=B0lIB7jFSGA&list=LLV1FMcdmOEPVhOybhgcgIIQ&index=6

Just thought I might post some Milton Babbitt.

Is Boccherini the GOAT classical composer?

who is your fave?

Les Noce

mozzart

bog is best

satantrips

Jazz is pretty atonal.

Why does nobody talk about Dussek?

bog

youtube.com/watch?v=NZPzGl-b51c

Who won?

which composer is/was physically the strongest

Brahms was both massive and 6''0 in the 19th century.
He could have probably beat the shit out of any pre-1900 composer.

Probably Rachmaninoff. Was huge (6'6). Worked out a lot. Had giant hands with which to grab you with.

he also composed effeminate sissy garbage

>Worked out a lot

Any source on this? He looks extremely skinny in all his pictures.

Petzold

One of them. why are the Czechs so good?

Dvořák, Janáček, the list goes on...

5 pieces for orchestra, verklärte nacht, a survivor from warsaw.

based as fuck

>Why is tonal academic music dead?
its not. academics write tonal music all the time. Many combine tonal with more academic tone-clock and clusters / atonality.
These for example, tonal and academic (based on the tone clock theory)
youtube.com/watch?v=wvh4Vho6h5w
youtube.com/watch?v=x904NaSQ06Y

>based on the tone clock theory
What the hell is that, some system to choose tones like the discs of an Enigma machine or some crazy shit like that?

Enjoy learning:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tone_Clock#Jenny_McLeod_and_Tone-Clock_Theory

Interesting. I have a fairly decent understanding of "normal" music theory - will this help or hinder me learning about this?

mahler was ripped
can't find the shirtless pic tho

Actually it is scientifically impossible for jews to be ripped.

*off

haha... yes...

In what other works can I find something similar to the Benedictus movement in this:

youtu.be/icNHpzt2JzA?t=19m46s

oh I mean the sanctus movement, the two first minutes of it, sorry

up my ass

you'll find a lot more shit there

i like Debussy, Shostakovich, Satie and Ravel
is my taste a meme

not really, just bad

Yeah.

meme != bad

except for shostakovich

Can any user identify the music in this video?

I can't stop listening.

youtube.com/watch?v=qjnSwZ5XWSE

that's literally what I said you dolt

they're memes
but they're not bad

Get some renaissance vocal music.

>glorifying the Russian revolution. Essentially everyone was hungry and they said "whatever" to whoever could feed them. Also the Tsar made himself commander in chief which was incredibly stupid. Its not really a glorious time in Russia. The trains just bogged down and combined with inflation everyone starved.
Sounds like a custom written-for-tv tune. Not really a /classical/ area of expertise

Tannhäuser: Overture is GOAT tier, don't care what any of you memers say

Post Gesualdo

>Wagner

please stop linking troglodytes to one of the best boards on the site.

If you could go back in time and show a composer a piece written after they died, who would it be and what piece would you show them?

have you noticed most people who dont like wagner insist on posting pictures of roastie whores with their non argument against his work
really makes you think

That's a man.

>most people who dont like wagner

most sane people don't like Wagner
