He lives in a bilingual country

>he lives in a bilingual country

How does that even work on day to day life? It fascinates me.

It doesn't. Not a country.

Canada is not a country?

all countries except Anglodumbs are bilingual to some degree
Most anglos lack the mental power to learn a second language

You'll soon find out in a country bordering you.

It doesn't really make a difference in countries where different languages are contained in different regions, other than road signs and official documents having both languages on them.

It's probably a different story in Luxembourg,

Everything who comes from the federal gov't is bilingual.
We have two public medias; one in French and the other is English

we used to bilingual until the XVIII century but we were cucked by Portugal :(

We actually have a lot of regional languages. And we ignore them entirely. Although some of them are spoken by a million people.

>we used to bilingual until the XVIII century
What do you mean?

French is mostly concentrated only in Quebec and parts of New-Brunswick. The rest of the country has tiny pockets of French speakers but they're insignificant.

You are supposed to know both languages to be a federal employee but tbqh that's not enforced at all.

Quebec has its own movies, music, tv shows, etc. They are usually much more successful than their Canadian counterparts because Canadians tend to consume American medias over their own, that's why Quebec usually dominates Canadian awards for movies and such.

Nothing significant really, it's not really a factor in everyday life.

Bilingualism in Canada seems pretty cool. It's interesting to see politicians go back and forth between English and French.

However, I wouldn't want that in the USA with English/Spanish.

>whats Walmart

most of the people just mixes both languages. especially with guarani being quite poor on vocabulary because of obvious reasons (some jungle tribe won't have words for "paper" or "computer" so why invent them?)

our main language was Tupi and portuguese was only used when talking with the Royal Crown. Because most portuguese that immigrated here miscigented with the natives, also because the jesuits promoted the natives culture, to spread further catholicism. But after gold was discovered in Minas Gerais in 1730s, massive portuguese+african immigration (literally 5-7 million people) plus Marquis of Pombal banishing the jesuits and forbidding Tupi as an official language, literally sealed Tupi's fate. Now it's only spoken by some Amazon Tribes and taught at universities. Despite we having extensive documentation, grammar books and dicitionaries about it. Tons of loan words from Tupi are everywhere in Brazil

I live in Québec and you really need to know both languages. If you can't speak french, you need to at least be able to understand it. Most frenchies understand english. Some refuse to speak it but they definitely understand it. If you don't speak french at all, you can still manage. Some of the lawd protecting the french language are pretty dumb but most are alright. I'm glad I went to school in french and know both tho.

Québec is alot more americanised then you would think.

may he burn in Hell

canadians wouldn't know

What?

>If you don't speak french at all, you can still manage
Just plain wrong... the only way you can get away with this is if you live in the west island of montreal

M8 no one here is bilingual unless you count Catalan

Fuck Canada, 2 languages should be entry level at this point. We could have asked freaking Belgium or Luxembourg if that was the case.
Bring Switzerland here and ask how they manage it.

>Bring Switzerland here and ask how they manage it.
they don't lol

It's complete hell and we are on the verge of civil war

actually no one gives a shit

>Update

This. And the memes about French and English canadians hating one another are mostly false, except for a few idiots we are totally friendly towards one another.
