Yeah no you dont

Give yourself 16gb ram and you have a decent rig mate

Price Limit?

this is not for video editing mate, im a pretty big scrub when it comes to computer knowledge but to my information you don't need more than 8 for games the vive alone is just 4

Youre really wrong

the whole rig costs 1277$, i can spare another 128 if needed, maybe more, just give me the stuff, ill ignore the price for now

well lets ignore the ram for now mate, i can always upgrade it later on

I'd go for >=16 gigs of ram.
I wouldn't skimp so much on the Motherboard and PSU.
Would suffice though I guess. It's just a really levelheaded build.

That assumption is out of date. There are gamins arriving that can make use of more than 8gb ram. Ram is so cheap these days there really isnt any reason to only get 8gb

wtf is someone who isnt doing video production/editing or HEAVY programming gonna do with an i7?
this, Im a power user but not a video editor and i fill 8gbs crazy quickly. if youre hosting an MC server off your comp while playing/have a lot of tabs and programs&games open at the same time youll regret not getting more. Trust me

Youre really wrong
CS Go, been out for however many years needed 8 gb of ram to run

Another point is actual ram isnt the same as practical ram. Your computers not going to dedicate all 8Gb of your ram to your games

this

and if some extra money, go for i7

>samefag
Also, do pay attention you got enough case cooling for dem games.

>minecraft
>csgo
>garrys mod
>gta 5

what are you, 14 years old?

What are you talking. Runs easily on 32 bit systems with 100+ fps on full.

i am not hosting a server, also i can limit its ram usage, either way the vive said its a minimum i5, so i wanted to be extra sure it will all run smooth and get a 7, either way its faster performance

so an i7 and 16 ram and im set?, nothing to change or something, will the heat be okay?

dont judge me based on the games i play, i just like to spend time on them, its not like i am playing farmville

I have a better build
---------------------------------------------------------------------
*swap processor to Intel Xeon E5-2699 V3
*motherboard to Asus X99-E WS SSI CEB LGA2011-3
*gpu to PNY Quadro M6000
*ram to Corsair Dominator Platinum 128GB
*storage to Intel DC P3608 4TB PCI-E Solid State Drive
---------------------------------------------------------------------
rest you can keep
***sponsored by intel***
---------------------------------------------------------------------

so far ive only seen recommendations to add 16 gigs of ram and an i7, anything else i want to change/upgrade bros?

As I said PSU and Motherboard are low budget. No good starting point for a long-lasting PC (and you really don't want to replace MoBo and/or PSU, more like the GPU.).
For cooling you need at least 2 case coolers, dunno what your case offers. They are about dunno $20 a piece if you buy good ones.

Realistically get an i7 if you can afford to fork it up. Same with the ram. Rams cheap and easy to install yourself so dont threat about it

Otherwise seems like a pretty decent build, assuming your case isnt some micro tower shouldnt over heat unless youre a dumb ass and try to over clock your processor

>128 Gb ram

I'm sorry.
Fucking what?

you aren't overclocking,
so yes, abolutely

well, i don't really know these brands since im a big noob when it comes to building pcs, i rather stay safe and go for all intel, i can't really keep buying new gaming pcs, this list is already expensive as it is, thanks for the suggestion though

I honestly dont know that much about VR, but I do know that its HEAVILY gpu intensive not cpu. An i5 is more than enough for anything a gamer can throw at it, ive got an i5-4690k with TONS of stuff open at all times and never really go above 40% usage.
also ignore my cpu temps its like fucking 90f here atm

thanks fams, people are saying i should change the mobo and psu, got any reccomendations on what to if so?, or just keep em like that

He was trolling you. Those parts would double your build cost at least without even searching the prices.

i guess i can always upgrade it later on if it gets intensive, although i really don't wanna get hyped about the vr and realize its all really choppy and such, thanks mate

i see, thanks for the headsup

OP that faggot is bait dont take it seriously
>intel xeon
>128 gigs
he's basically asking you to help out nasa

you "could" change psu and mobo,
but as i said, you aren't overclocking
so there is no reason for that

i am pretty surprised guys, i thought this thread would be people suggesting crappy stuff on purpose, you have all been very helpful

go for a 6600 or something in that range, you want skylake cause future proofing is a good idea, that way one day you can upgrade to an i7 if you need to

i am gonna just upgrade my ram and my core then, anything about the case guys?, you think its good?

ill go with an i7, it wont hurt anything except my wallet, thanks anyway bro

im looking around for cases, do you have an asthetic youre looking for or do you not really give a shit? heres a newegg search link for reference, lets see if it gets me b&
newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007583 600545969&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=RATING&PageSize=30

>>im looking around for cases, do you have
i just want a case that will work good against heat, less about aesthetics, either way ill stick with the case unless its really bad

there are several i7 cores to choose from, should i pick the latest one or something?
going with Intel i7-6700 3.4Ghz(4.0Ghz Turbo) Skylake LGA1151 Tray

My specs:
PROS: Intel Extreme I7-3960X
GRAPH: SLI MSI GTX 970 Clocked at 1337 (for fun)
RAM: 64GB Ram Corsair Dominator 8x8192MB 1866MHz Running 2200 I think.
PSU: 750W PSU Corsair platinum modular something HX750I Or CM750 gold 80+
COOLR: H80i V2 Custom parts installed.
MOTHB: Asus Rampage IV EXTREME!!
SCRN: 144hz Asus Something i dont fucking
remember. It's good tho. Second screen crappy 200$ 60hz Acer piece of shit.
CASE: Phanteks Enthoo pro
A fucking shit ton of fans, can post more pics if intrested. Several casemods.
MS&KB: Razer Naga Epic the old one, (lasted 6 years no faults yet)
Corsair K70 RGB (best keyboard I've ever owned.

my googlefu is returning nothing on the one you mentioned in OP, as long as you have like 3-4 fans (2intake, 2exhaust) and dont stuff wires in front of any fans youll be fine

yeah that'll be fine

>Xeon
>Quadro

Are you trying to build a computer with over top parts that'll run shittier then a laptop or are you trying to build a workstation for rendering CGI?

now, i am buying a prebuilt pc. i know its shitty and i can build it for much cheaper, but i rather get all the pc parts quickly and have a 100% guarrantee nothing will get messed up
what about a power supply?

the skylake platform and 1070 are very power efficient and you can more than likely stick with a 600w PSU and never have to worry about it, if youre feeling iffy a 700w will give you more than enough legroom

Another Pic of mine.

so Antec 650W Modular 80+ Bronze NE650M
will do for it?

Here it the case, fuck CD-roms. Looks is obviously very fucking important for me. Payed 45 dollars for small parts for the cooler that change ccolors on it. Because the silver standard ones did not match. Worth it by a long shot.

awesome rig

here is some good advice. go to tomshardware . com. they will set you right real quick

yup thats good

Beautiful build. Props on going with the GTX 1070. Oh, and you definitely don't need an i7. However, you might consider upgrading from 8 GB of RAM to 16 some time in the near future.

>Arctic Cooling Alpine 11 Rev. 2
remove this shit and stick with the stick cooler you won't be overclocking enyway
>ram Kingston DDR4 8GB 2133Mhz CL 15
Switch out your ram use any 2x4gb dimms
or go 2x8gb dimms if you have extra $20

>>Beautiful build. Props on going with the GTX 1070. Oh, and you definitely don't need an i7. However, you might consi
thanks friend, i will upgrade to 16, man all these changes really made the price go up but whatever

you sure my pc wont go hot?, i even plan on adding more cooling to it, for the ram i am making it 16 instead

Op check out my PC :) Enthusiast builds are always fun.
Shamless self promotion.

using this much ram
kek

unfortunately prebuilders ramp up prices for customization... and yeah if they have an option to go with stock cooler do that, it is more than enough.

Go for the 6600k i5 then its solid, anything less will likely bottle neck your 1070 that thing is pretty beast.
Otherwise solid build

Well, I wanted to play all the big titles at once so I could ALT+ TAB between the games.

already did friend, it looks amazing, you planning on using oculus or vive?

Thanks man! I've worked hard to save up for it. And I just noticed all my posts have dubs wtf hahaha.

I doubt his OS can even use that much RAM to begin with.

Corsair dominator platinum? Congrats, you payed 300$ for some shitty ram heat sinks.

Trust me they won't be giving you that stock cooler if it is going to be hot. Besides it saves you from buying thermal compound. besides you won't be overclocking on that board anyway, If you have a budget post it might get a better idea on what build to give you.

the thing is by buying it prebuilt i get to split the pay over 12 months or more, that way it leaves me spare cash for accessories and games

Well, Me being a retard and horrible with cash, I usually just use it on my PC so I don't waste it anywhere else (yes im autistic) But I'm gonna wait before trying my hand at VR, I want it to be further developed and cheaper. Just like the first mobile phone, look at the fucking Iphone 6s. I'm waiting :) For marriage that is. But I'm sure I will get into it one day. I have every joystick you can imagine, and Car racing / drifting in VR is the dream. I also dont have much room. So sitting still in a car fits me well.

>e fucking Iphone 6s. I'm waiting :) For marriage that is. But I'm sure I will get into it one day. I have every joystick you can imagine, and Car racing / drifting in VR is the dream. I also dont have much room. So sitting still in a car
haha i see mate, well goodluck with that, for some reason i developed a fear from heat, i had a computer a year ago that really would overheat really easily, i burnt parts a few times, you think a stock cooler would do fine or will it hurt to add a few extra protective measures?

hes selecting from a prebuilt site so his options are limited to whatevers in the dropdowns they provide. he also wont have to worry about applying thermal compound or anything since it is prebuilt.
what id do is when they send it to you is just check the case and make sure they did just leave you with like 2 fans or some shit. also doing some research on youtube about building custom computers will never hurt, one channel id highly suggest is Jayztwocents

Woops, I'm Foreign and retarded. Let me find the name of the RAM is Dominator® GT with DHX Pro Connector — 1.5V 32GB Dual/Quad Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMT32GX3M4X1866C9) And It's 559$ Now for 32GB and I bought it back in 2013 i think or 14. But then it was 650$.

16 is already plenty its not like you are rendering videos while playing games, while live streaming while opening 20 tabs of my littlepony porn

Overkill

>ptions are limited to whatevers in the dropdowns they provide. he also wont have to worry about applying thermal compound or anything since it is prebuilt.
>(You)
awesome, thanks

> Shame he could've saved more by just building his own

My PC reaches on the GPU about 60C extremely high load at like ARMA 3 100% usage of Graph cards or however you say it. CPU reaches 50C so my PC is cold, but my ambient temp is like 18C around the year. and good airflow is key.

building my own pc too. just ordered the parts, its coming at 11.07.

>i7 6700k 4000mhz
>Evga GTX 1080 SC
>MSi Z170 Pro carbon motherboard
>Dark rock 3 cpu cooler
>16 gb 3200 mhz cl15 gskill trident z
>500 gb samsung 850 ssd
>western digital 1 tb harddisk
>fractal designe R5 tower (with side window)
>enermax platimax 750 watt psu

I got the RAM from work. A pc there burned out and my boss said to throw it away. But Ram did not seem to damaged. So i took them home and found that 6 out of 8 worked. And bought 2 on Ebay.

>Jayztwocents
kek. that guy is baised asfug
> You can see him sucking on nvidia shills on live stream

bandwagoning is for fucking cucks
watch his latest livestream ALL the way through and see if that changes your mind.
sure he jokes around about the recent power problem, but its like making fun of a sibling

>FSP HYPER 600W

I'd give it 3 months before it goes bang and takes out the rest of the components too. DO NOT SKIMP OUT ON THE PSU. Evga supernova g2, corsair rmi/rmx and pretty much anything Seasonic are pretty great for the price.

Damn your boss is dumb as fuck, and it's good that you got the 2 extra sticks on ebay. usually the dominatror series are for quad channel and is sold by 4's

>combining ram with fps
so how long are you waiting till the map loaded buddy?

>2016
>Not having enough RAM to keep your OS on it.
Are you serious?

well, i am using a prebuilt system, i have no choice for that one, also i have a warrenty for 3 years i believe, so any booms would be their fault i believe

Intel Core i7 Processor (Skylake)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 Graphics
16GB 2133MHz Memory
250GB Samsung SSD
2TB Hard Drive
Windows 10
Kinda new to PC and curious if these specs will let me run stuff over next few yrs on high settings planning to buy prebuilt then upgrade myself later down the line to save money. Not building my first rig tho.

Tell me about it...

I'm the owner of the 64GB system, I did not even bother to reply to his comments. Hahha wtf.

Well if it's under warranty, fair enough. But if you ever build one. Always buy a quality psu.

Why don't you want to build your own rig in the first place?

You have so many options to get the help you need. You have sites that let you see if everything fits together and is compatible.

You need to start somewhere if you want do upgrades yourself too. There are dozens of youtube channels dedicated to helping you with the building, you can learn everything and there are places like Sup Forums / linustechtips /tomshardware / etc... forums that will help you with everything you may ask for.

Also remember for Skylake you want to get DDR4 memory.

will do buddy

yup, you should be able to run basically everything for the next 3-4 years on mid-high as long as you stay at 1080p
im an fps whore so i'll gladly go down to a lower setting for a buttery 60fps, but you more than likely wont go below 35-45fps for the next 3-4 years

remove your gtx 970 replace it with an Rx 480 reference card or wait for the aftermarket cards will save you $160.00
> what board do you plan to use? H110, H170, B150, or Z170?
> is your i7 the k series?

the prebuilt ones come hassle free, i really wanted to be 100% safe when making the system, it isn't cheap where i live, so messing it up was definitely not an option, lots of things i need to learn and make sure are correct instead, and also by buying it prebuilt i can divide it to a few payments instead, which leaves me money for other stuff too

me neither, i can go to low or medium, graphics is not the most important part, its the gameplay

One thing nobody seems to have mentioned.

The Display port on the 1070 does not work with the HTC Vive. Not a deal breaker but annoying.

display port?
it connects to the hdmi slot, shouldnt do any problems should it?, also the card i am buying states its vr ready, so they probably dealt with that problem aswell

hexus.net/tech/news/graphics/94243-nvidia-gtx-1080-1070-display-ports-work-htc-vive/

or google it

Thought of it for awhile and just didn't want to my friends said same things. I might check some more tutorials and shiz on youtube.

Thinking of Ironside PC plus long time part replacement incase any mishaps. Current budget is relatively 16-$1700 that's including monitor keyboard and headset so my PC will have about $1450 in it

>locked processor
>aftermarket cooler
kek
