that's not a guilty pleasure, that's a band that had artistic potential finding the crossover between their niche and widespread accessibility. most shit bands don't start out that way if they ever get widely famous

feeling guilty about liking something is childish

these, also from under the cork tree is better

Folie à Duex is best.

no, take this to your grave is the best

I sometimes listen to the compilation they released when they "broke up"

>implying 20 Doller Nosebleed isn't the best thing they've ever done

Alpha Dog was a great bonus track

youtu.be/U8OLpgUeLMw

They knew how to make simple but catchy af pop rock tracks, goddamn.

their first 4 albums are great, no need to feel guilty about liking them.

now pic related is a real guilty pleasure.

>BUT THEY R NOT OBSCURE THERE4 GUILTY PLEASURE

>Implying their duet with Elton John wasn't the best thing they made

youtube.com/watch?v=N5aVkVdFfLs

>the music video where Elton John was literally God

Which is pretty accurate. It IS Elton John we're talking about.

This album is legitimately great. I've been lucky enough to see them live in their prime, as well as recently.

I gotta say, they lost their touch when they reformed. I don't know what even happened. The production on their albums have been terrible since Folie A Deux too. That'd hands down be their best for me if it wasn't so brickwalled.

>GIVE ME A PEN

"I'm every cliche, but I simply do it best"

CALL ME MR. BENZEDRINE

...

I fucking hate pop music but this bitch's voice melts my pants

...

i feel like i shouldn't like it

>this is almost ten years old

Why? What's wrong with Janelle Monae? She's great and pretty widely respected so nobody is gonna try and make you feel bad about enjoying her work.

pop music

>Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! at the Disco are all over a decade old

where did the time go

If you didn't whine about your parents and post on tumblr so much you could have spent that time better

...

are you implying tumblr was a thing in the early to mid 2000s?

>tumblr
Underage detected.

Masturbating to pornography.

...

i made my tumblr in dec of 07, so yes

that was not the time when the tumblerinas existed.

that started around 2010+

...

Gary Glitter. He made some great tunes, but I would never, ever admit to liking a nonce's music to anyone in real life.

Shreck was a mistake

This is true. People always wonder "why these bands are even famous" but FOB blend GOAT pop hooks with pop punk. Listening to other bands in this style it's extremely easy to see how FOB are still relevant

>Good singer
>Catchy hooks and songs
>"Had the look" when emo was popular

...

Wentz always wrote songs that gave me a chuckle, especially with his song titles.

>I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me
>Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?
>I've Got All This Ringing In My Ears And None On My Fingers

absolute madman.

...

sorry

for what?

My man. Bums me out we'll never get a true follow up to this album

Everything, I'm even going to their concert next year

>Makes me feel young again

>ywn caress Patrick's supple manlet body

Revolution Radio was a solid Green Day record so have fun.

youtube.com/watch?v=lP077RitNAc

It gets worse

>MCR - Welcome to the Black Parade
>Fallout Boy From Under the Cork Tree era
>Pop rock in general
>That era of music

...

...

oh hell yes

I don't really have conventional guilty pleasures. For instance, I love Mae. Who would give me shit for it? Like "oh, you listen to Mae, lol."

Damn right I do. Saw them a year ago at the Firebird, too. They were doing the Everglow.

The shit I'm actually ashamed of is shit like The Black Keys and Royal Blood--you know, shit that thinks it's cool but isn't. If it's obviously played or unhip, that's really just as good. It's edgy in a way.

The worst stuff is the stuff that's tired but still popular. I unapologetically like MCR, but I turn off my scrobbler to listen to Jack White.

I don't have any because I don't feel guilty liking music that I like. Sure there's music that when I listen to it I know how goofy it is but that doesn't mean I think I should feel bad for liking it.

Thanks now I have to play Tony Hawk 4

hey, it was fun

just look at this era:

twitter.com/liv_lutz/status/803476680656482305

>tfw everyone knows it because of OceaN Man

>positive fall out boy thread

Finally. They're my favorite band.

The past two albums..I view them as "fall out boy 2" and I can't blame them really. They wanted to be done but their connects in the industry kept pushing.

Aside from my liking them I believe they're objectively one of the best rock bands of the 2000s so far and potentially beyond.

When alternative was popular they were popular. Rap is popular and they've found their niche within that by releasing a remix album of their entire latest album that has popular rapper features. It's a genius move industry wise.

Patrick Stump has an incredibly versatile voice ranging from punk to gospel (check his solo album), Pete wentz is a quality bassist, Andy and joe are good at what they do as well, no complaints there.

They've also never changed their lineup which is always impressive in my opinion.

MCR was sacrificed for fall out boy to remain relevant. I wouldn't have been okay with this if danger days wasn't as "just okay" as it was but oh well.

I liked a few tracks off save rock and roll but American beauty is completely irredeemable.

Ew
Yay

I might just be a pleb, but the last 2 albums were just harmless pop music to me. I rarely listen to pop but with them I was more willing to just let myself enjoy most of it. They seem to be really enjoying themselves.

it is making them buckets of cash, but hopefully they do tone it down on their 7th album.

What tracks did you find irredeemable on AB/AP?

Deaftheaven - Sunbather

what is this trend on mu saying pop punk is good, jesus christ this might as well be reddit

...

that's just how opinions work dude

there's also a bunch of thread that praise hip-hop music unironically despite being a garbage genre for retards, does that not bother you?

pop punk isn't even popular on Reddit.

OH SHIT MAN

PATD

Ocean Man is pretty much a meme to my friends so i have to hide the fact that a song that genuinely love

the only good song they made post-reunion is The Phoenix

Holy shit forgot these guys even existed. I remember everyone and their mother loved them for a couple years.

PRAY FOR YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS

Rat a Tat exists

i-im sorry...

youtube.com/watch?v=1-8trgpLHJE

and what is gilt?

This is hands down the most fun song to play on drums ever. The 6/8 groove is so fucking tight and then you just get to go nuts during those drum breaks after the chorus

*12/8, I'm an idiot and also drunk

>I'm an idiot

Those trips say otherwise, user.

You're saying I shouldn't feel guilty about wanting to Sandy Hook my uni?

ok maybe a little is ok

...

how could one feel guilty about liking blink-182, back when I was in school it was actually uncool to not like them.

and their music hasn't aged a goddamn day.

Honestly, I don't quite understand why anyone would ever admit to having a "guilty pleasure" when it comes to music.
When someone calls something a "guilty pleasure," they're saying much more than just "I like it but it's bad". In reality, they are putting themselves into one of two camps; neither of which are desirable to be in.

>1. The "ironic rockist" - this camp purports to be appreciating music on an intellectual or "deep" level, but shows enjoyment for something does doesn't live up to their poorly contrived notions of artistic evauluation.
>in order to justify this behavior and quell their cognitive dissonance, the rockist will choose to label the piece a "guilty pleasure" and avoid amending their evaluation process to better reflect their actual tastes.

>2. The "real" [insert genre] fan- this camp purports to be appreciating music on a "genuine" or "personal" level, but will prove otherwise through their actions. Much like the ironic rockist, they will achieve a state of cognitive dissonance when they find that they enjoy something not fitting in with the image they desire to project. They settle the dissonance through the justification of it being a "guilty pleasure" while assessing "well everyone has some."
>Oftentimes called such things as "hipsters" or "poseurs," these people are frequently concerned more with the image they gain in the eyes of others rather than the pleasure they derive from the music itself- that is to say, their enjoyment of the art stems almost purely from something outside themself, the art itself, and their sphere of control.

now, maximum the hormone ain't nothing to feel guilty about but I sure do feel like a 14 year old weeb listening to it

eat shit

just admit it Sup Forums you listen to this everyday and you love it

adding the word ironic to an argument doesn't make something more true or precise

System of a down for japs and weebs

Not necessarily guilty, but since we're talking about albums seen as mediocre or unliked. I love this album

While we're on the subject of scene kid-core.

I wish I were lying. I'm sorry.

lol look at this massive faggot

>I'M A STITCH AWAY

no you don't have to, what the fuck

imo MCR are fucking great

I definitely have you all beat.

One of you faggots literally every thread. No one actually feels guilty about liking it. It's a concise way to say "Shit you like that you understand why it's not liked"

of fuck off there's one of you in every thread like this, nobody honestly feels guilty about liking whatever it's just a bit of fun

Funny op I always say FOB is my guilty pleasure too. Them and early Killers.

CHVRCHES. Their music is catchy as fuck. I don't really understand the hate for their music here.
Fuck them as people though.

MCR isn't a guilty pleasure. They are legitimately good on several levels.

Yeah MCR gets pretty unfairly lumped in with a bunch of the terrible bands of that time period.

why u gotta ruin everyones fun?

I really like shadow and breath on me.
