>dude whites are the devil lmao
>dude drumpf lmao
>dude blacks are perfect lmao
Seriously what happened in this album
>dude whites are the devil lmao
>dude drumpf lmao
>dude blacks are perfect lmao
Seriously what happened in this album
...
What in the literal fuck did you expect from a fucking tribe called quest album? For them to praise trump and rap about white supremacy? You went in with warped expectations, buddy.
>dude gibs me dat
>dude copyright infringement
I'd be shocked if they paid for the Willy Wonka samples among others. At least on Wikipedia, very little if anything is credited.
It's this kind of shit
>Any discussion that doesn't fit the blacks are perfect narrative is le pol tier
I've been listening to Tribe longer than you've been alive and the lyrics have never been as bad as one some of the songs on this one
the only reason you consider them worse is because their political standpoint pisses you off more now than it did back then
they always had a couple corny bars here and there, this album is definitely in line with the quality of their other albums
It is for the most part quite excellent, but my main issue is how not clever the lines are. My biggest issue is with We the People, which is literally >dude drumpf will deport everyone lmao
which is just dumb
>doesn't want a song about how evil white people are and how they're responsible for all problems black people have
>must be white supremacist trump supporter
Neet
As I recall, we the people is actually about gentrification aka gibs me dat.
But it's still >dude white people are the devil lmao
that's a very surface level interpretation
>gentrification aka gibs me dat
Do you mean improving an area? That's what gentrification is
Right but I'm just making the distinction particularly about the lines you must go etc. Although I'm sure it's implied getting them out of the country word be desired as well but specifically it's about them out of the neighborhood.
sigh
Then explain O great one what the song means if it isn't >dude white people are evil lmao
Well I meant from their perspective so yeah anti-gentrification aka gibs me dat
SHUT UP WHITE DEVIL
I HATE WHITE PEOPLE BUT NOT QUITE ENOUGH TO GO SOMEWHERE THAT HAS A HIGH DENSITY OF BROWN PEOPLE BECAUSE THE QUALITY OF LIFE THEY HAVE CREATED OUTWEIGHS MY HATRED FOR THEM
>improving an area is bad
ok kiddo
*le sigh*
Doesn't it just displace lower income peoples? Where does the gibsmedat come into play?
How did you miss the point of the album so hard? The idea isn't that black people are perfect, it's a reminder that they are a valuable people and culture even when they feel as oppressed as they currently do.
It's the exact same message as Black Star
it's about how homophobia, racism, and Islamophobia have permeated society and how they're all linked to uphold the idea that upper class white people's lives are of inherently more value, or that these people are more capable contributing to society and less likely to commit crime (and pls do not cite some fbi statistics that is warped by the fact that black people get way higher arrest and conviction rates than white people for the same exact crimes)
but when areas are improved the poorer people can't afford to live in them anymore. and the fact that you're equating removing poor people from an area with inherent improvement is a symptom of our society's class system.
What's wrong with islamophobia?
Islamophobia generates homophobia and racism more than any other religion.
if this were true you'd know the last song was about phife you chuckle fuck
not to mention there are literal people who do want everyone who isn't a straight white person to leave america. it's also about those people.
...
>homphobia and sexism
Fixed.
t. fucking retards
>implying I meant the whole album
Christianity has generated a LOT of homophobia, sexism, and racism as well so it's tough to say that Islam has generated more. Christianity spread white supremacist ideals to the entire world.
>ha I just called them retards and won that argument so easy
>Literally apologising for Islam
>Denial of statistics
of course when you ask me for an argument i'm just a fucking retard but the only argument you've put up is "the song is literally white people are the devil lmao" when it is literally not that.
i mean 'islamophobia' quicky turns to denunction of anyone resembling a middle eastern citizen. plus a ton of folks can't distinguish fundamentalism from ppl practicing their faith in peace. it's gonna be bad.
again Christianity spread racism and sexism to the entire world. Rapes occurring in Islamic countries echo the rapes that occur in frat houses & clubs in general in the United States.
lol if you can't handle tribe making cracks about white people, why are you listening to rap ever. what do you do when nas says "faggot"? post about it on Sup Forums?
So? I never mentioned Christianity but you assumed I was one
>Missing the point this hard
Fuck neo-Sup Forums
>sexism
>racism
'no'
I can understand you saying that Christianism generated tons of homophobia, but not the other two.
The Bible says nothing about sexism and racism.
By being anti-gentrification
They claim a right to a certain price usually property tax despite inflation etc.
let me know when you get a real point that isn't "waaaah I'm offended these rappers said a bad thing"
>implying
You have to be over 18 to post here
Ah yeah that is working the system, thanks for clearing it up
Removing poor people can be an effect but it's not the cause of improving an area and that actually makes zero sense. The area was improved while these poor people still lived there and now the value of their property has gone up which means they have to pay higher property taxes.
...
Wow sure got me buddy
all you are is a fragile white boy. very sensitive
And specifically the system of identity politics
They feel they have no recourse economically so they work this other system.
>This kind of response
>I-if you criticise blacks then y-you're sensitive
No wonder mu is a shit hole
this nigga based as fuck
Serious question: why can't the alt right communicate in anything but their autistic memespeak
>He questioned the absolute authority of the black man, must be an alt right memespeaker xD
You're proving my point with the reddit xD meme
Your world perception is derived entirely from memes
Faggot
>reddit xD meme
>faggot
underages leave
>everyone I disagree with is alt-right
Not a single poster here or any A Tribe Called Quest member has ever said anything about "the absolute authority of the black man", let alone to tell people not to question it. You're inventing problems that don't exist.
>Tripfag being retarded
Gee didn't see that coming
Listen to the album next time
>poor people
>their property
more like their landlord's property who then raises the rent
I have. Show me the lyrics that mean "do not question the absolute authority of the black man".
Not the lyrics but the people who instantly spouted ">>pol" and shit as soon as I made a thread criticising the black man
We're saying that you don't have a good basis to criticize black people based on this album and you haven't done anything to back up your claim. If you back it up with something concrete, we can talk about it, but all you've done is assert your opinion and then insulted anyone who's questioned it.
>Back it up with something concrete
>Posters who say "don't quote statistics"
Also I do have a good basis, yet you can't say anything negative otherwise you're a le racist white supremacist
Then tell us what the basis is. You started the thread with
>dude whites are the devil lmao
>dude drumpf lmao
>dude blacks are perfect lmao
and haven't posted anything to support that. What do you expect people to do when you post that and nothing else? There's no substance to talk about, and you haven't linked the album to any of those things in the entire thread.
Well the property in general. Lots of homeowners don't wanna have to move even though they could possibly make a return on their investment because the property value has increased. Usually it's because the most practical location to go will be at least the same price as their increased value so they'll just see they're profit disappear.
The basis is reality
This is what blacks think and have shown in their actions
But people like you want to deny reality because it doesn't fit the narrative
>you haven't linked the album to any of those things in the entire thread
and you still haven't
not that guy but lol did you get beat up blackies as a kid? or did tyrone fuck your gf?
don't you see he has clearly identified them as being black
that's more than enough to trigger a Sup Forumstard
>This childish line of thinking
>No way can you actually criticise the black man no it must be something wrong with you
>getting this triggered by my post that you don't reply to the guy you were talking to
lmao which one was it.
>hiding behind greentext
dude ebin XD
still waiting for you to link absolutely anything in this album to "you can't question the black man's authority"
...
Everyone and their mother has sampled Willy Wonka at this point. I doubt there's a problem.
>not being able to read greentext and infer meaning
>>>>>>>>>>tripfags
>I'll talk to you until I don't have an answer then I'll vaguely insult you and pretend I won this
haha which one was it?
Like I keep saying look at the fucking news, that's the basis
They do this to themselves but if you say "hey this isn't the white mans fault" you get this thread and all kinds of babies angry for not following the narrative
BUT HOW DOES THAT RELATE TO THE ALBUM. TELL ME HOW IT RELATES TO THE ALBUM. YOU KEEP CONNECTING THE TWO BUT THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN SEE THE CONNECTION IS YOU, SO WOULD YOU PLEASE ENLIGHTEN US HOW THEY ARE CONNECTED
Not the whole album, just some songs
>running away from how your personal experience informed your delusional world view
lmao which one was it buddy
then quote the lyrics from those songs. that's all I've been asking you to do this entire time and you keep referring to the news instead
The first two songs retard
Good example of getting angry at denying the narrative
No it couldn't possibly be the black mans fault, you're just delusional
...
>Christianity spread white supremacist ideals to the entire world.
Man can we switch realities, yours sounds awesome
>getting angry at denying the narrative
your narrative which was informed by you getting beat up / cucked?
i'll deny that thanks LMAO.
Again "it's not the blacks fault, they're perfect. It must be you who had a horrible experience"
The Space Program is a song about feeling marginalized, and the hook of We The People... is the only thing that's vaguely political in the entire song, and it's a response to the recent rise of white nationalism.
There is literally nothing about "don't question the black man" in either of them
I liked the album. I thought Phife calling out SNL months prior to the election made the whole thing particularly effective. Production's fun, everyone's on point, ESPECIALLY Busta, who rocks shit.
I miss pre-election Sup Forums. I never saw a lick of Sup Forums on here until Trump won.
>blacks are perfect
where did i say that?
there are people of all races who are pieces of shit, you focusing in on one just shows how you must gotten fucked hard by one of them lmao.
>Feeling marginalized
Ok kiddo
>Response to white nationalism
>implying thinking all white people want everyone else to leave isn't racist
>I never saw a lick of Sup Forums on here until Trump won
there def were Sup Forums folk here before that. anything ye related esp
Not even that, I just meant if you knew anything about their politics in the past you should have expected this type of topic matter. I'll admit my example was a bit OTT though, I could've worded it better.
Dude where have you been? They've been only slightly more present now than they were then.
>implying he isn't a newfag
so let me get this straight: you're opposed to people feeling marginalized and also think that being against white nationalism means that you hate white people instead of hating the idea of white nationalism.
If I'm not missing anything, then both arguments are ridiculous. First, it doesn't matter whether black people are marginalized or not, because Q-Tip, Jarobi, and Phife Dawg did when they made this song, and factuality of their situation or another doesn't have any impact on the quality of the art they've made for good or bad. They felt oppressed and made the track, so the track reflects that mindset. If you want to tie this in to your original argument, the best this can be is an example of black people feeling persecuted when, according to you, they aren't.
Second, you don't see Tribe or any of the featured artists kicking white people out of their concerts or tweeting about how much they hate all white people. You can easily be against a subset of people without hating the superset.
>Feeling marginalized
>literally given free shit for existing with a different skin colour
I agree, you can be against a subset without hating the superset but they didn't make that come across in their songs and so it sounded like "all whites are evil"
what the fuck happened in this thread.
>viewing all rap music through a post-elections lens
lol you're sad m8
Like I said, it doesn't matter if they are or not because the feeling of marginalization is in the song. The question is if the feeling of marginalization is portrayed well or not.
For the second point, I'm white and didn't feel a single bit of animosity against me the three times I've been through it so far.
>How dare he think about his music, silly white man
Even before the election I would've said the same idiot
