Can anybody suggest some movies where the physical heat of the setting (e.g humid summer) adds to the atmosphere of the film?

The only examples I can think of are Labour Day and maybe Boyz n The Hood.

City of God looks swarthy as helll

Definitely Do The Right Thing. That's the classic example really.

Napoleon Dynamite.

Falling Down.

Passion in the Desert.

Really made the goosebumps on Denise Richard's stand out in that one scene

Bodyheat.

Body Heat makes a point to show how hot it is and how the heat is affecting the characters.

Beat me to it.

The Sandlot

Cool Hand Luke. Sweatiest movie ever made.

stray dog

Predator 2

Barton Fink
Do The Right Thing

Apocalypse Now. So humid people were getting pissed off on the set.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre does this better than any movie I've seen (probably because cast and crew members were actually regularly passing out).

Well. SHEEEEEEIIIIIIIT

Everyone was just generally pissed off by everything during that shoot. But I'm sure the humidity amplified it all.

it's totally a movie user.

predator 2

danny glover was fucking GLISTENING the whole

angel heart

I suppose any Vietnam or pacific WWII movie would fit into this thread

The thin red line comes to mind, especially with Malick's selections of nature. You can just about feel the relief of the ocean breezes

they were all sweeting, yes, but it was because of cocaine

The Rock is glistening in several of the Fast movies even when no one else is sweating at all

I meant depictions, not selections

12 Angry Men
The Long Hot Summer

A time to kill

a lot of sweats were switten

wake in fright

>sweaty Judd jugs
Lawd almighty

Titanic went from hot engine room to cold icebergs

Gladiator

Sunshine

Die Hard with a Vengeance
Falling Down
The Wackness

...

Special mentions to the Twilight Episode The Midnight Sun. Absolute unbearable heat.

Falling Down

Humid weather is literally what starts the movie and Michael Douglas quest.

Oh fuck. THIS is what I've been trying to remember.

It's TV, but the Netflix show bloodline. Florida Keys heat and humidity every episode.

Falling Down since it looks like nobody is going to say it.

Heaven's Prisoners
any other Louisiana movie

Straw Dogs
any other movie in the Deep South

>Norman Jewison

Lolita (have only seen the 1997 version)

Holes

This

Literally the hottest looking film ever made

Has anyone mentioned Falling Down yet?

Oh shit that's like the epitome of humidity.

>no mention of A Streetcar Named Desire yet

You plebs.

Kids.

summer of sam

My nigga.

I guess pretty much every western movie ever?

TREMORS

The Grey and Alive.

Both have the cold as a central problem and element. The former is okayish/good, Alive is a classic imo.

...

Falling Down

That's a hell of a picture

ILL CALL NOW

Dog Day Afternoon. I'm surprised no one mentioned this gem

Ha great rec, instantly thought of this too @op

...

Good call, reminds me of pic related.

>The Grey is okayish/good, Alive is a classic
Literally what the fuck

>you'll never be the chick in this pic

Wake in Fright

Because it was mentioned, fucking idiot

Holes

cant believe NO ONE has mentioned Falling Down yet

Literally all of do the right thing is people becoming violent racists because it is hot out.

same with summer of sam and some other Spike Lee joint mentioned here. What's his fucking problem?

Yes?
Heat makes people do weird things. And before AC became really widespread people used to hang out and interact way more than they do now because they wanted to get out of their hot houses/apartments

Falling down

All the mainline Predator movies make a plot point of the heat, since predators live in that type of weather.

And by mainline I mean predator ONLY movies, none of that vs. Alien shit.

this, falling down is the best heat movie

i'd say indiana jones 1-3 are pretty sweaty it's been a few years but i remember them being sweaty and deserts and stuff

i always thought of die hard 3 was a really hot and steamy movie

Black hawk Down?

Medicine man

Palmetto with Shue.

came here to post this

I wouldn't say it adds to the atmosphere of the film but in Triple 9 all of our main characters are constantly drenched in sweat.

Not sure if it would fit what you're asking for but The Proposition does an amazing job of portraying the heat/dryness/alien environment of the outback

How can you watch that fucking movie? Niggers did the wrong thing at every turn and we are supposed to think he did the right thing?

...

...

Thank God for the internet, now people can be violently racist anonymously.

Would be funny to see a spike Lee joint about a guy angrily logging into Sup Forums.
