/F1/ - Formula 1 General - Waiting for Hungary Edition

Rosberg 168
Hamilton 167

Hungaroring in two weeks, then Hockenheim a week later.

amx amd

Poor Ham, all he wants is go fast, man.

>10 sec pen for something that saved you the whole race

thats why they probably did it he could've ended up fourth or even worse if the team didn't tell him

Not true, to be honest. If they had told him that they couldn't explain what "not using 7th gear" means he would have figured out on his own that he had to short shift. Hell, he even said it himself, but was just asking for extra confirmation. The onus of this is all on his engineer telling him without hesitation.

>likely DNF or stuck in 1 gear and finishing out of the points

vs.

>grey area rule breaking that you can argue with the stewards for hours and end up only losing like 4 points

he did pretty well

can't wait for another gearbox penalty for hungary though lmao

here's to hoping Newey/RBR can make a competitive car next season so Max can challenge Hamilton for the championship

that would be ebin

They absolutely will. Maybe not full Merc-tier but the Renault engine should be up to par next season, token system is getting scrapped, and the new cars are downforce demons and Red Bull just happen to employ le downforce god as their main designer.

Unless Newey has gone senile or Renault really drops the ball (which is unlikely now that it's directly affecting their own team as well), there is no reason to think Red Bull won't be even better next year.

Ferrari on the other hand are just choking, all those updates on the engine and all those new parts etc have seemingly not made the car better at all. Merc have barely done anything to their car and they're still destroying.

Amx vs Vetlel vs Choco would be ebin like Kimi vs Juan vs Michael in 2003

Your 2017 World Driver's Champion.

I'd be OK with it, even if it'd mean having to see Dennis's smuggest face.

Isn't Vijay Mallya a full #yolo billionaire?

Why doesn't he just drop a few hundred million just for the team to focus on one year (e.g. 2017) with hugely expanded resources? Or just get a cheeky loan from an Indian bank, doesn't seem that hard.

What's the point of running a midfield team that has no real chance of ever winning without major luck? Better to have 1 year of championship contending/race winning car than 10 years in the midfield.

the penalty was for telling him to shift through the gears which he would have done anyway. not for telling him about the gearbox setting, that wasn't under investigation.

He doesn't have a lot of money now to invest. He closed his airline because it went bankrupt. He owes the Reserve Bank of India plenty of money but he can't be persecuted because of various reasons and loopholes

and now he can't leave the UK or he'll be deported to India and tried for his crimes

Indian government have already seized as many of his assets as they can manage lel

Just checked. He owes $1.3 billion to the reserve bank. He fled the country. Lives in London now.
Fuck that faggot. People like him are the reason lots of people can't >POO IN LOO

Love this self-mockery

just imagine how many loos you could buy with $1.3 billion

i'd bet 1.3 billion

who needs loos when you can spend that $1.3 billion on building more streets to poo on

What self mockery? Nobody likes that faggot here. Lots of bastards like him that don't pay taxes and steal from the people. It doesn't matter to developed nations because they have a higher per capita income and basic infrastructure is in place. We have a huge poor population who need help from the government and the wealthy.

Top kek

Atleat GP2 is exciting this year.

I like him. His mullet is tops, and he doesn't give a fuck. Top bloke I reckon.

Force India is so broke that they had to 3D print their fucking steering wheel just to save costs.

GP2 is like triple A ball. It's not really for the competition.

A what ball?

How many kilos is one triple A ball?

In the USA the minor leagues of baseball are A, AA, and AAA, then the majors.

The minor leagues are to bring along players, but no one cares if the teams actually win.

GP3/2 are the same way. People argue about "this driver had a better record than that driver" and shit but it doesn't matter. It's about learning to race with other cars, maybe some setup/DRS deployment, fuel savings, etc. If you're good you graduate, the actual winning percentage doesn't matter as much.

I get wath you are saying but it's still a lot more exciting than F1 these last few races.

Fair enough. There are people that love watching minor league baseball, too. It can be exciting.

I prefer to watch sports where everyone involved only cares about winning, so I only watch the highest level of each discipline.

Are you watching the Indycar race later, Finnfriend?

Do we really deserve that the ones who are dealing for the WDC are a beta and a tryhard american nigga? The 2005-2010 period was comfy as fuck, and literally nothing happened since then.

Nope but might give it a try

Cool. It has Montoya and Max Chilton and it's a small oval. A lap takes 17 seconds. Chilton qualified very high (4th I believe) which is amazing.

In this discipline qualifying means very little in terms of final standings but it's p. cool.

There will be a thread. I think it starts in 1h 10 mins.

I wonder if any Finns have raced in Indycar? Something makes me want to say Mika Salo gave it a whirl.

I missed the race, should I torrent and watch it anyway or was it the usual MWL borefest?

MADMAXMADMAMXMAMDMAMXMAMDMAMXMAMDMAMXMAMDMAMXMAMDMAMXMAMDMAXMAMDMAMDMAMAMAMAMAM

FUCK CHOCO

MAX WINS

The beginning was pretty cool aside from the SC start.

LOTS of cars went off due to the tricky wet/drying conditions.

It had interesting bits, but since you already know the final result a well-put-together highlight reel would just save you the boring parts.

I could only find some dude called Tero Palmroth. Isn't Montoya an old man already.

Montoya is like 38 but he won the Indy 500 and tied for the championship last season so he's competitive there.

>letting old farts that doesn't understand computers in charge of rules

HAMROSVE_

this desu

Here's the Indycar Thread.

>Be me
>Be Alonso
>Join team with basically independent engine supplier and nearly half a billion in budget
>Get my ass handed to me by some team with a fifth of our budget

heil satan

what do you mean by that satan

who's better, barichello or rosberg?

Checked

I mean Alonso is getting raped every night by Vijay Malaya

checked dubs for >le downforce god
Newey is the king of autists tho.

hoping for this tbqh

Juho Annala drove in the 2008 Long Beach Champ Car race that counted towards that year's Indycar series.

How common is the name Juho? Isn't there a strongman with that name?

brace your shelves lads

/tsu/ airraid incoming

What did you do now, England?

Watkins Glen in F1 when? Charlie was there 2 months ago, so it's basically just a question of the right amount of money entering Bernie's pockets, richtig?

talking about the yuros

poortugal funposting will push /f1/ out of the catalog if we're not careful

i hope not. it's a shit rack. although we could use a northern US grand prix, and one on the western coast as well.

>be Alonso in alternate universe
>stay at Ferrari
>finish 2nd or 3rd in the championship every year until you retire whilst team tries to convince you this year you will have the best car
>retire with 2 WDC and 10 2nd places
>kill self

What's so bad about the Glen?

you can only see one turn and and a short straight from the grandstands. the rest of the track is completely obscured. also Watkins Glen is a shithole. i lived there for three years.

but that's just me. i'm a dirt track fan

it killed cevert

tsuuuu

>richtig?
Unwahrscheinlich. There are many European countries full of oil money that could line up Bernie's pockets much better than some outdated US track.
And if we're going to be silly, Road Atlanta would be much more fun anyway.
Oh, that shit's still going on? Everyone's stopped talking about it long ago.

>be Alonso
>be so delusional that you get buttmad if you don't get a realistic chance at the WDC every year
>because of this you are 'mad' at driving for fucking Ferrari
>go into an obvious shithole team

Should have overtaken Petrov in Abu Dhabi, Oviedo's missile :')

>that shit's still going on?
well not anymore

I wonder how much teams lie to drivers about expected car improvements next season to either keep them in the team or to steal them from another team

Oh, I see.

I dont get why shows the poortugal thing as well. No mention of f1 in the title, first post or even the rest of the bread

FIlename.

Right. Behind the (...). Thanks. This is the type of thing that keeps me from sleeping.

...

wew

>Be Nico Rosberg
>Lose 3 championship points because race engineer told you to shift gears in your formula 1 race car that requires the driver to shift gears
>Lose the 2016 world championship to Lewis Hamilton by 2 championship points

wew lads

its as much his own fault for asking how not to use 7th gear

>BBC news at 11 after Euro final
>loads of headlines over Wimbledon, Tour de France, Euro 2016
>literally no mention of British GP

Haha, don't worry. I'm sure in 2019 when F1 goes entirely off free-to-watch in the UK in all forms that F1 will become more relevant again.

He was asking if it was safe to shift through 7th or if he just couldn't shift past 6th at all.

It was a reliability issue, not team coaching. The FIA is digging their own grave with this bullshit.

I want them to lessen the radio strictness
V8 supercars have some pretty good coms talk and I agree with the sky sports commentators that it does give more insight to what's going on. The talk between the drivers and tire choice and track conditions last race was great imo

>F1, nigger wins
>CS Cologne Major, aimlocking BRs win
>Euros, good guys win
Day was saved at last. TSUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Seriously if rosberg botches this 43 point lead he needs to consider retirement

>Be Nico Rosberg
>Lose championship

calling it now

>tfw no matter what happens you will always believe in Nico

He will win

why do people still watch this complete joke? gambling?

I wish he would win but I've lost hope. Cheering for him is pointless.

as long as it doesn't rain anymore he has a decent shot.

is that mana's bedroom

>Japanese girl
>Der Gluckssieger

Does she ship them from Germany specially?

i guess you could say he's a... fair weather fan

Looks like the articles are from a Swiss newspaper.

Mercedes is now appealing the Rosberg penalty and #TeamLH is chalking this up as further evidence of the anti-Hamilton conspiracy.

Hamilton fans need to find their way into the nearest oven.

I saw Sebastian Vettel at the paddock in Silverstone today. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and waving his finger in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen World Championships in his hands without paying.

Bernie at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Seb, you need to let me rig those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear him, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When he took one of the championships and started rigging it multiple times, he stopped him and told him to rig them each individually “to prevent any teammate infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After he scanned each championship and put them in a bag and started to say greetings to Maurizio and Sergio, he kept interrupting him by going YABADABADOO really loudly.

so they sell championships to the highest bidder... wow... really makes ya think

Demotedberg

He could totally rock that mustache

Friendly reminder that we are living in the worst timeline

>the feeling of being cucked by a mexican mclaren reject week after week

> getting docked points literally because F1 wants a black driver to dominate

The mexican is at least a mclaren reject, hulk is a nothing reject, just sidestepping all the time.
I feel sorry for him, but he just hasn't delivered or had luck.

Hulk has already achieved far more than perez ever will in racing, it's just that he can't seem to shine like he should in f1
