what do you value in music. because none of this strikes me as very emotional, but also not particularly complex or innovative or unique. also not catchy or anything like that...

can't shit-talk anyone who loves Private Parts, sorry
I'll have to betray your expectations

I need to delve more into Tangerine Dream

>Boces contrarians
Fuck off you piece of shit, Yerself is Steam is superior in every way

...

wow whats wrong with you

I do admit that Frittering is their best song though.

not that guy but something for joey is their best song

that's it, not going to discuss mercury rev with Sup Forums any further than that. it's infuriating.

I understand your feelings (even though that's not the best song on the album, it's Snorry Mouth).

only 2 5's?

while I do think all those are very good, each one is landmark of my..
uh
music experience I guess
and life too... like, pete namlook is not a mind blowing musician but discovering his music was a landmark in my life and made me more interesting in
life
but yeah I do like those as much as my 4.5s
no

i don't think you do because everything they did was good up to and including All is Dream

I don't remember uploading that image.....

>Only 2 5s?

Yes, but that's out of 79 ratings.

My 5s have to be very special.

what do you mean? I love All is Dream.

what do you think of See You On the Other Side. Sometimes I think I might like it a bit more than YIS overall. Empire State and Sudden Ray of Hope are so good.

>landmark of my..
>uh
>music experience I guess
>and life too...
>discovering his music was a landmark in my life and made me more interesting in
>life
how so? first exposure to genre or something? i just want to understand, no hate

ah okay that makes way more sense. that's about the same ratio of my 5's to ratings

You sure listen to a lot of Crazy Frog

Yerself is Steam is one of the greatest albums of all time, Boces at its best is trying to recapture that sound, and at its worst, is just uninteresting music more in line with their new direction

lol I just had a day where I decided it might be fun to listen to the top worst albums on the rym charts... It was a terrible idea in retrospect

i'm just talking about how there are so many posturing dipshits on this board who present a false dilemma when it comes to mercury rev. they think that if you like Deserter's Songs and All is Dream you're a faggot pleb who doesn't like their earlier, better releases. it's absurd. they think it's one or the other. or at least those people used to exist here. this is my first time back in a few years.

See You On The Other Side is good but I would probably rank it 4th in total. Empire State is one of their best tracks though

>Boces at its best is trying to recapture that sound,
no. it's not. it's an escape from that sound, pretty clearly. thanks for playing though. i guess.

I have to disagree. They aren't trying to recapture their old sound at all. YIS is hazy, paranoid, and chilling. Boces is much more intimate and emotional on a (relatively) more understandable level. They trade the schizophrenia for an embracing of the human experiences more idyllic moments.

I said at its best, the first tracks on the album as just derivative of their first album, and then everything else is new direction but not a good one

By Deserter's Songs they had at least figured themselves out but they never were nearly as good as YIS

for example 76:14 was one of the first full albums I listened to
I remember loving to fly helicopters during a rainy night in GTA listening to The Journey radio, and 5:23 would play there
and then I looked up online to discover the name of the songs in the radio, which led me to GC... and then later I'd discover the therm "ambient music" which made me really happy knowing that there were other people who liked calm music and artists who would make calm music
because before any of that, until I was about 16 or 17, I listened to no music... I also had pretty much no interests other than internet games
another one is like, the dizzy record, which I would listen to a lot during around august this year, which was a terrible ass month
but that would always make me happy because it has such a nice atmosphere, dizzy cracks some jokes, they play doodlin which is one of the few standarts I can recognize...
so yeah it's usually like... memories you know
memories is pretty much all we have

shit I'm writing too much I have stuff to do oman

plenty of the songs on boces could be included on YIS

plenty of the songs on YIS could be included on boces

i'm confused as to what is being argued here. they're not radically different from one another. one is just more concise.

I will, thanks for the rec

acre but why
